Yes..there are sealed '08 Corvette brochures on ebaY w/ BIN prices of $16.95-29.99...
  2. Saw a very unusual car in my office parking lot today... a black mid '80s Buick hearse...it was a stretched (in the rear doors) LeSabre wagon with a padded raised roof...no casket in back, but had chrome flames at the bottom of the grill.. very strange. Unusual ride to set at what seems like a very button-downed, straight laced company (aerospace software company).
  3. case
  4. I dropped out of models when I was in my teens, picked up the hobby again about 10 years ago... it's a nice relaxing hobby, gets me away the stress and tedium of corporate America... I've got about 1500 unbuilt kits and 250 old ones to restore in my stash. Speaking of the b-pillar, I'm not aware of any models of a '59 LeSabre 2dr sedan, but there is a resin caster out there that makes a sweet 1:25th '59 Olds 88 2dr sedan kit..
  5. I suspect it's a brush paint job...the auction said it had a few issues..glue spots on the decklid, holes from antennas and spotlights, a crack in the left c-pillar. I figure I'll restore it eventually and paint it an appropriate vintage color. I have a bunch of old AMT kits to restore and build eventually..
  6. Haven't they already done that with the current Pontiac-Buick-GMC division?
  7. Yes, but are there heated, chilled, lighted power cup holders.... I need those..
  8. Unfortunately, when I grow my winter hair out, it's partially gray in the sideburns... looking forward to spring to shave my head again..
  9. V4s

Robert Hall replied to Drew Dowdell's topic in The Lounge
True...I wonder if there would be applications in ultra-small models.. though the Smart has a rear mounted inline 3, I think?
  10. V4s

Robert Hall replied to Drew Dowdell's topic in The Lounge
I'm surprised we haven't seen V4s in recent years for packaging reasons (I would think a V4 would take up less space than inline 4).... for A- and B- class subcompacts..

I'm sure that other than the going from B&W to color, that mentality still exists in the Bible Belt today w/ the social conservatives..
  12. Also, GMC is becoming more differentiated from Chevy, with the Acadia and upcoming Torrent replacement. And there is the dealer structure also... I can't see BPG dealers letting GMC go...but poor Pontiac?
  13. BMW's drive a specific way that mass market models don't...they handle better, accelerate better, stop better,..the whole package is all about the pure joy of driving.. It's something that has to be experienced, can't easily be explained with statistics....
  14. Reg is full of it...may as well ignore his blatherings..
  15. You know what I mean...BMW's are serious driver's cars..not point A to point B appliances...
  16. Woo hoo!! I scored an original, built, complete, restorable AMT '59 Buick on ebay tonite... I have the AMT/SMP '59 Chevy Impala ht & conv '59 Pontiac Bonneville ht & conv kits and the Johan '59 Olds 4dr ht, but no Buicks.
  17. Well, BMW is RWD and driver focused...that alone gives it premium status. GM has too many overlapping FWD models.
  18. The article and thread were about the US market...so what if BMW sells cars outside the US w/o A/C? Irrelevant..
  19. That has to be a PFA...in the US I would expect BMWs to be 100% with A/C.... I'm amazed there are still any cars sold in the US w/o A/C...
  20. Yeah, it would seem very strange to see the Saleen or Roush brand on a Chevy, since they are historically Ford tuners... it would be neat to see a revival of the vintage Chevy tuner names like Yenko or Baldwin-Motion..
  21. Or the bronze '71 that a neighbor had when I was a kid in Ohio...I love the sculptured bodywork of that style.
  22. Nothing wrong with looking at things like that..with work, I set my expectations extremely low, so if something meaningful really happens, them I'm pleasantly surprised..
  23. This was an inevitable choice...if they had not picked Toyota, imagine the uproar amongst their readers..
  24. I try and convince my peers (30 something professionals) that GM makes lust worthy cars, but when a buddy asked if the CTS comes with an AARP card, I felt like giving up.. Pretty much everyone I know in my demographic group drives Japanese or German, with a few American SUV owners (mostly Jeep) mixed in.... The youngin's I know (<30) drive Eclipses, Golfs/Jettas, Civics, and Corollas...
  25. Saw the battered '64 Buick Special 2dr sedan again this morning... gold w/ white roof, dents, rust, classic car plate. Someone commutes to my office in it, I see it a couple times a week.
