Fascinating Wyoming junkyard pics
Yeah, Wyo definitely has harsher winters than the Front Range. We get huge snows up in the mountains and on the Western Slope and out east towards Nebraska and Kansas, but the I-25 corridor usually escapes the big ones...

09 models
Not surprising, though, considering how many new or redesigned models came out in MY '07 and '08. The Traverse is one new model for '09, though. So for MY '10, there will/may be the Camaro, CTS coupe, Epsy Dos LaCrosse, anything else likely? BRX? Sostice Targa?

Nice 79 Bonnevile
Neat PonBon...I had a buddy in college that drove a silver '79 4dr with a red interior similar to that one. Nice big cruiser.

Caprice Wagon
I usually get mine online, though my local hobby shop sometimes has some.. I usually pre-order JL sets through Milezone (www.milezone.com) or 1 Stop (www.1stopdiecast.com) or from various ebay vendors.

Corn dogs: Classiest food ever?
I've never had a corn dog, IIRC. But I do love the pigs-in-a-blanket on a stick (i.e. a pancake-wrapped sausage on a stick). Speaking of corn dogs, they were referenced in 'Semi-Pro', I saw it last night..a bit uneven, not Will Farrell's best, but it had some funny moments. The '70s clothes and music was great.

Solstice Targa at the New York Show?
Hmmm...there's only one of those red/pink areas I'd seriously consider living in.

Montreal Autoshow: Pontiac Wave5

"I said MARCH, young man!"

They build them there..

GM @ NYIAS '08: Pontiac G8 GXP
It's only the RWD models from Holden that are interesting..the rest are FWD GM generics.
-
GM @ NYIAS '08: Pontiac G8 GXP
They should have done at least 425hp to be comparable with the Charger SRT8, though.
-
GM @ NYIAS '08: Pontiac G8 GXP
Looks good...looks like they didn't let the G6 GXP stylists near it (no big F&F style wing or oversized grilles).

New York '08 Preview: 2010 Pontiac sports truck
I submitted my idea for the name at the Pontiac site..neat.

GM @ NYIAS '08: Pontiac G8 Sport Truck
It's a neat vehicle...very distinctive, and the only thing like it on the market. V8, 2 seat RWD car w/ a bed... unique.

GM to kill the H2 after 2014
That's all taken out of a recent ad. The reality is Hummers are driven around the suburbs...just silly overblinged toys...their natural domain is the Starbucks drive thru and shopping mall parking lots..they are too big and heavy for serious off-roading.

Caprice Wagon
They have a '50 Chevy pickup also...

Automotive Death Watch
The problem is the manufacturing of many categories of consumer goods is by and large dead in US...I can't see all that has gone away (TVs, clothes, home electronics, etc, etc) coming back.. I just don't see how what has happened over the last 40 years or so can be undone.

Yes, lame but profitable.

Taking 3 months off...
I took 8 months off in '01-02... traveled quite a bit, hung out, got bored. I'm taking a month off this year (April)...in a few years, I want to take 6 months off, and go on a extended vacation in Australia and NZ. A consultant friend of mine takes off 3 months every summer to spend the summer w/ his family when his kids are out of school.

I'm tired and a bit grumpy so,
I have long wondered if things would be better in the US and Canada if we formed a North American Union (i.e. a structure like the EU).

Toyota cuts truck, SUV production at TX and IN
What is funny, though, is that Toyota has been doing compact trucks well for decades..the Tacoma has certainly been a better truck overall than the Ranger or S10 and Colorado. I wonder why it was so difficult for them to build a decent full size?

I'm tired and a bit grumpy so,
IIRC, Phoenix's new light rail system that's under construction is going to be using European-built cars.

I'm tired and a bit grumpy so,
Would be nice to have more train service... the big hinderance to wide spread rail is how large and spread out the US is (compared to Europe, which is compact and more densely populated). Denver had done a good job so far and is continuing to expand it's light rail around the metro area. I see the potential benefit of commuter rail up and the down the Front Range here--such as Denver to Ft Collins, Denver to Colorado Springs, along I-70 into the mountains, etc...but it's been talked about for years with nothing happening so far. But as far as heavy rail, the nearest major cities are all 500 miles away or more, so flying is quicker to get to them.

Eight-Brand Pileup Dents GM's Turnaround Efforts - WSJ
I am a RWD fan, but I'll say that I still prefer the styling of the Intrepid, 300M, and Concorde over the Charger and 300...the 2nd gen LHs still look modern and slick, compared to the blocky LXes.
