  1. It doesn't matter what they can be priced at. It matters what price they sell at and Cadillac gets higher ATPs across the brand. No, it's not just Escalade propping up the average... CT6 buyers, XT5 buyers, and CTS buyers all tend to go mid to higher optioned cars.
  2. My inspirational quote for the day: "Never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by stupidity"
  3. Requiring EV chargers or just the electric lines run so you could put a charger in. Big difference.
  4. There is one other factor that you're ignoring. We still don't have the charging infrastructure too support that volume of cars and we're not investing in it anywhere near fast enough.
  5. The Renegade's class is arguably and ironically more interesting. If I were shopping in that class, the CX3, Renegade, Encore, HR-V would all be on the decision list.
  6. Elon is aiming for volume this time to keep the lights on and amortize that R&D a bit sooner.
  7. There is absolutely nothing in the class that interests me enough to pull the trigger. The only possible exception would be a Cherokee Trailhawk V6. The CX-5 would be on the list if it had a better torque option.
  8. Just spotted an XTS-L in downtown Pittsburgh. It looks fantastic.. the extra length gives it an imposing look.
  9. 1. 1966 Oldsmobile Toronado 2. 1967 Cadillac Eldorado 3. Cord 812 (cheating as this is an I8 rather than V8) 4. Auburn Boattail Speedster (still cheating ) 5. Newest Escalade Platinum 6. 1985 Cadillac Seville Diesel... oops, the engine blew and an Olds 350 gasser fell in its place. 7. 1985 Cadillac Eldorado Diesel.... shame these engines keep blowing up and coincidence to have Olds 350s jumping out all over the place. 8. 1977 Lincoln Mark V 9. latest CTS-V 10. 1998 Lincoln Mark VIII LSC
  10. We're a 3 car family... I could totally see something like the Volt being added to our fleet someday.... if it were larger. I still need to write up the Bolt EV I drove.... great little scamp of a car.
  11. As of 3:40 pm today... I rolled this out of the garage and addressed the issue.
  12. The RAV4 crash test ratings aren't all that great either.
  13. There is a replacement programming do-it-yourself process out there. I will see if I can find it when I get home from work. BTW, do you realize your signature pictures are broken?
  14. Eh, if he is ever wrong... he can knock on the door of BMW and pull whatever they have for the 5-er or 7-er.
  15. 3rd party supplier most likely. When you see multiple manufacturers come out with the exact same tech at the exact same time, someone like Continental, Bosch, Delphi, or ZF (9-speed FWD autos in Acura, Land Rover, Jeep, and Chrysler anyone?) is behind it.
  16. I'm not sure how that would be... my local Honda dealers are packed with them. It's certainly not a supply issue unless Honda somehow screwed up the product mix in option packages. The new CR-V is competent but nothing special... exactly what has kept it a best seller for so long.
  17. Electrification done right can be better than diesel because you can have all the torque and yet still run in EV only mode part of the time producing no emissions at all. Since Volvo has gone all 4-cylinder, adding electrification can be another boost to power also.
  18. Plenty of space in a Roller for batteries and weight has never been an issue.
  19. Escalade Platinum or CT6 PHEV
  20. From what he was given to work with at the start, he went about it in the most wrong way possible. He started with 3 fairly full brands in the US, inflated that to 4, and then added 3 more to the mix. The problem is that instead of investing in the strong brands, he dumped a ton of money into nearly dead brands with no presence in the U.S.. At the time that Fiat took over Chrysler: Maserati had 2 models (4-port, and GT). Now they have 4. Alfa Romero was down to a couple economy cars, the GM Epsilon based 159, and the 8C. All of which were dead by 2011. From 2011 to 2016, the model lineup was comprised of the MiTo (Ford Fiesta competitor), Giulietta (Focus competitor), and the 4C. In the same timeframe, Chrysler brand went from 6 to 2. Dodge went from 9 to 5 with one of those 5 known to die very soon (Viper) - This is not counting the removal of Ram trucks to their own brand, if you count that, Dodge went from 13 to 5. Jeep has mostly held it's own.
  21. 98% of FCA's problem sits in a big corner office wearing a sweater.
  22. Do not feed the ghosts.
  23. Guys, can we not dig up the Ghost of Christmas past even though we know he still haunts us?
  24. Can you list which ones you think are on the chopping block? I have my own ideas, but I wonder what yours are.
