  1. ZL1, no question..... and I've never even driven it. I have driven the Hellcat.
  2. 1. 1991 Oldsmobile Cutlass Calais 442 5-speed manual (190hp in a 2,600 lbs car) 2.3 liters 2. Saturn Sky Red-Line 6-speed (2.0T) 3. 2012 Saab 9-5 2.8T Sport Combi AWD (one of the 27 made) 4. 2016 Volvo S90 T6 AWD (2.0 turbo AND super) 5. 2016 Volvo XC90 T6 AWD Inscription (same engine as above)
  3. I think it's a mistake to just not swap out the Scion badge and leave the rest as is... FR-S has some equity already... just call it the Toyota FR-S.
  4. Without the front drive cars, Mercedes sales for 2015 would have been down nearly 12%
  5. Luckily, there is a website that tracks auto manufacturer sales numbers each month. The best selling Benzes are the small front drive cars and the E-Class. The GLK/GLC has never been a big seller with the SRX beating it in sales regularly. The front drivers make up the bulk of MB sales growth with nearly everything except the C-Class being in the red for 2015. The best selling Lexuses are, in fact, the badge jobs. The ES was a luxury Camry, now it is a luxury Avalon. The RX started off as a JDM Toyota Harrier which itself is just a tall Camry wagon. The LX is a Toyota Land Cruiser. The GS, up until this most recent version sold so few copies each month that even the old STS handily beat it in sales, but it wasn't a badge job.
  6. sNOSsage! Welcome back! It's like we're getting the band back together!
  7. The 93+ Fleetwood with the towing package has an equal to higher towing capacity than some full size trucks depending on their configuration.... and all mid-size trucks except the GM Canyonado with the diesel. True. i think max or the Caprice/Roadmaster with towing was 5000 and the Fleetwood with the towing package was 6000 or 7000! Yup, fleetwood was 7,000. There hasn't been a sedan since that was rated that high. The best currently is the Panamera with about a 5,000 lbs rating and nothing else comes close.
  8. Your friend's was probably a 91 or 92 with the non-LT1 350. The 93 - 96 got the LT1 and the difference is night and day. 94-96 got the LT1. But yes, would say a pre 94. may have have been even worse, a TBI 305, yuck! woops, I was off a year for the switch.

  11. The best selling luxury crossover is a tall Camry wagon with NO performance halo version.
  12. Naturally, because it's a Benz, it's more complicated than that. The C200d with the manual is a 1.6 liter. The C200d with an automatic is a 2.0 liter. The AMG on that wagon is AMG appearance package, but none of the hardware. The 1.6 diesel is only available on the sedan and wagon, and not the coupe or convertible.
  13. Never own a German car unless someone else is picking up the repair bill.....
  14. The CR-V has hardly grown in all of its years on the market... and the new ones actually feel smaller and less useful inside compared to our '04. I'm sure that Honda is eyeing the sales of the Rogue with it's 3rd row. No... just no. Cargo volume is very deceptive, especially when measured in cubic feet. For example, the CR-V lists cargo volume with the rear seat down at 70.9.... and that may be true if you're filling it with sand, but that doesn't mean the cargo room is usable. I know from experience that the Grand Cherokee can haul more with the seats down than a CR-V even though it is listed with a smaller cargo volume. I really don't understand what your agenda against the new Acadia is... GM still offers two vehicles the same size as the outgoing Acadia and they will remain that size in the next generation. Go buy a Traverse or Enclave if the size matters that much to you. The Acadia is exactly class competitive in the new class it resides in.
  15. 1. Alfa 124 2. 2016 Jeep Renegade 25th Ann Edition 4x4 - 1.4T and 6-Speed manual (actually the superior powertrain choice over the 2.4 + 9-speed) 3. Eagle Talon DL with the 1.8 liter and 5-speed manual 4. 2016 MB C200d - 1.6 liter diesel with 6-speed manual transmission... and I even have a place in Germany to park it. 5. Buick Encore (Done!)
  16. Yet this beats the S-Class from Mercedes Benze as according to MT, the 1999 S Class has a 228hp v6 and 232 torque. http://www.motortrend.com/cars/mercedes-benz/s-class/1999/specifications/ Yes at this time Cadillac still had V8's and the S-Class was only available in a V6. Where is MB prized V8, V12 engines then? They had the other engines too. You're only looking at the S320... Change the trim line on the drop down at the top of the page to see the other engines.
  17. People like SMK like to point out that the Fleetwood only had 260hp, but neglect to mention they also have 340 lb ft of torque at like 2000 rpm. At 65, they can cruise in utter silence with the engine barely turning 1750. These only have 4 speed automatics yet get mid 20s fuel economy. If someone would put a modern 8 speed in one, theyd have even more hustle and fuel economy.
  18. Yes. The D-Body line continued on in Arlington built on the same line as the B-Body. So now, the million dollar question for me that needs to be answered...for my own personal knowledge...Two Questions: Is that '90s Fleetwood Brougham D-Body related to the '90s Chevrolet Caprice B-Body in any way? And if so, what differs a '90s D-Body from a '90s B-Body? A D-Body is largely a longer wheelbase B-Body, as such, they share little in body structure but a lot in mechanicals. Many Caprice 9C1 parts (cop spec) are in the Cadillac by default.
  19. Yes. The D-Body line continued on in Arlington built on the same line as the B-Body.
  20. Probably just a C450 AMG loaded to the gills, comes to $61,730 I can't get an XTS V-Sport or CLS400 the way I want within the criteria.
  21. Who the hell needs to compete with niche vehicles like the C63 and X5 M? Seriously? Why worry about the 0.5% volume? I love how you have to continually try to compare anything Cadillac does to the most expensive examples from the German competition, when that is just a fallacy argument. So why is there an ATS-V or CTS-V, those are .5% volume cars. Seeing as crossovers have over taken sedans in sales, there is not more volume in the crossover market than there is in the sedan market. Since BMW built their image on the M3 and M5, while Cadillac sold front wheel drive boats, one brand soared and the other sank. Same thing will happen with crossovers. The luxury crossovers with the prestige will draw appeal, people will buy the better performing vehicle as well. You have a serious issue confusing correlation and causation. People will buy the better performing vehicle when there is no cost differential, but any luxury CUV that can get to 60 in under 8 seconds will be fine. 8 seconds is about the time it takes a 1996 Roadmaster Sedan to get to 60 and that is beyond plenty for the typical buyer. Faster than that and most buyers become unwilling to pay more to go faster. Yes there is a subset like you who will, but get inside of that 8 second range and people start to become more concerned with MPG than with acceleration. Cadillac's problems in the 80's had virtually nothing to do with how sporty or not their cars were and everything to do with engine reliability issues. They were selling that 4100 boat anchor that ate intake gaskets, the 350 diesels, and the 8-6-4, but their sales volume was huge so they pissed off a lot more people who went and tried those expensive yet cheap feeling BMWs for the first time. Had GM not made those powertrain flubs, BMW might still be an obscure Euro brand like Volvo these days. Even for as bad as those Cadillac engines were, and the general slowness of the other GM cars, I still see far more of them from that era rolling around today than Germans of the same age. Those old BMWs, Benzes, and Audis were terrible terrible back then. They'd handle well (at least the BMW did), but their build quality was extremely sub-par. There is absolutely nothing "luxury" about a BMW 635 aside from its original price tag. Take away the handling and the badge and it might as well be an Accord coupe on the inside. Even the lowly Toronado had a better built dash with nicer materials and more advancements than the 6-series.... Digital dash, automatic temperature control, automatic head lamps, leather wrapped steering wheel with aluminum spokes, no exposed screw heads on the dash, no matte black plastic anywhere....
  22. It might be a good thing that Benzes are engineered like any other... I had to call the fleet rep to deal with an issue with the power windows not sealing.
