  1. One of the few Asian vehicles where I love the styling and wouldn't change a thing.
  2. Yet PA with self pump has higher prices than NJ with full service
  3. "The Beast" just rolled through downtown Pittsburgh right below my office window.
  4. I was going to suggest that Chevy or GMC do a commercial version of the Lambda.... but at the rate they are selling, they are probably pretty close to max capacity on that plant.
  5. The city express is a Nissan NV with a chevy grille.
  6. Some back end server upgrades today to prep us for the upcoming software updates. Your C&G experience may flicker a bit for the next couple hours.
  7. I think all of the mainstream brands could be under one dealership with the super premium having their own dealerships. It was a mistake to make Chrysler into a true mainstream brand, they should have moved up to a premium American brand that straddles Buick and Cadillac. The lower priced 200 should have been the Avenger and a properly restyled 200 with features and appointments befitting a $27,995 price point should have been the Chrysler brand's base sedan. The 200 is an excellent car, but it is trying to be too many things to too many people with a price range of $21,000 to $38,000.
  8. ah, so the programming is already there
  9. The Miata's gone this long doing what it does. The FR-S can do the same.
  10. Audi was actually one of the first to do the "stepped CVT" feel. It was a simple programming update that came out mid-production when they first introduced CVTs in the A4 FWD models. If you bought one of the earliest A4 CVTs, it drove just like any other CVT. If you bought a later one, it would have artificial stepping programming in there to make it feel like a 6-speed automatic. If you wanted, you could go back to Audi to have that new programming removed. A CVT without stepping is the most fuel efficient type of transmission possible as long as it is programmed to take advantage of the engine's power properly. Introducing artificial stepping only diminishes that efficiency... and I would imagine also slows acceleration slightly.
  11. better reliability will do that. Still doing my best to keep the average age up.
  12. I wonder if I could go to Subaru and have the transmission reprogrammed to NOT act like an automatic. It would probably improve performance and fuel efficiency.
  13. and I bet that isn't even what the engine is fully capable of if GM unleashed more.
  14. Good. I'm no hybrid hater, but this probably would have been a bad idea.
  15. This should say something, the next C-class even has my attention as a potential next vehicle .
  16. Does it handle better than a CTS V-sport or 535i? And how would a 420 hp SRX handle or ride compared to a SRT Cherokee or X5 or M-class. And what if they need 500 hp since that is what BMW and Mercedes offer? You can't go against those vehicles with a front wheel drive Chevy chassis. Let's get realistic about the target market for this vehicle please. The SRT Cherokee is dead-man walking... they are canceling it. Not exactly a market that Cadillac should be chasing. Also, the XTS V-Sport and CTS V-Sport are so close in handling ability on the track (and I've driven them both on an actual race track, back to back) that the performance difference is less than any driver errors that can happen. The XTS actually feels more confident because it has AWD, but you can "hoon" the CTS if you really want. The XTS has a weight disadvantage and the CTS a power advantage.... but all in all the differences are so minor that your objection to the powertrain layout is purely academic . BTW, the XTS V-Sport can send the majority of torque to the rear wheels when and if needed. In sport mode, it runs with most of the torque to the rear constantly. It also has Hi-Per strut to take away any torque steer. As approximately ZERO X5 or M-Class drivers take their vehicle to Track Day to compete, the difference in handling is going to be pretty low on the list of buyer's needs... right around "aggressive tire tread pattern" in terms of importance. But I'm sure the middle aged real estate agents of Palm Beach County Florida will be right there with you complaining about handling when the time comes.
  17. One of the few times I strongly agree with SMK. I think the new C-Class is going to be a smash success and that the 3-series is in trouble. The people who buy the 3-series only for the handling will stick with it... but for the 90% of buyers in this market who just want a luxury car of that class, the C-class is the better option. It feels like a baby S-class inside. The 3-series doesn't feel like a baby 7-series... and it wouldn't matter anyway because the 7-series feels 20 years out of date.
  18. It's 5-series handling (possibly better than that even these days) in a blue collar badge. It really should have been a Buick instead. It would have sold better at the same price.
  19. The Passat in base form is the new Wbody impala
  20. I sleep very lightly.... tossing and turning most of the night... often in pain and stiffness. Work has really stressed me out with unusually high demands this year. By the end of this coming week, I will have completed my 60th flight and my 75th night in a hotel in just 2014. I do sleep a bit better, less pain, in hotel beds, but the work stress keeps me alert... and then there's the missing Albert part.
