  1. Well coming to the US and Canada would be a good way to fill capacity.
  2. Erm.. no. This is a Chevy Captiva with buick styling and interior.
  3. This is probably a necessary move for them to try and survive. I think the DS line would do well here, they are attractive and different. I liked the 2 I drove when I was in Germany in July.
  4. most of the Verano drivers and probably all of the Regal drivers are much younger, so I guessing the bulk of the age comes from Lacrosse and Enclave. Also, 2013 was a partial year for Encore, so I bet their overall ABA will continue to drop
  5. I agree on the apprenticeship. As is so often the case, I refer back to Germany where they still do such a thing. I was talking about the age thing because it was brought up that GenXers and GenYers are accused by the older generations of not wanting to work.... well we do.... don't blame us for the lack of opportunities when the older generations are staying in their jobs 10-15 years longer than before.
  6. Like that was the GenXer's or GenYer's decision to move production to China? That's all on the boomers.
  7. Nope... it's just the 2.5 4-cylinder. I feel this these trucks are the most appropriate application of this engine so far.
  8. Wow.... maybe if some of the older folks would shuffle off sooner and get out of the way instead of holding on to jobs into their 70s, the younger generations might have a chance? Maybe if the younger generations weren't sold a bill of goods about how important it is to go into debt to get a good education, only to find that jobs once you got out of college (even good engineering jobs or software jobs) wouldn't pay the debt down. Working through school and finishing in 4 years isn't an option anymore either because cost of living is so high while minimum wage is so low. I have a good job and no school debt and I'm incredibly incredibly lucky for that.... but I still feel the absolute lack of opportunity out there to move up in any meaningful way in a "typical" career path.
  9. Sorry guys, other things have come up. I will get these driving impressions out to you soon. Long story short - don't count out the 4-cylinder truck at all. I was far more impressed with it than I was with the V6.
  10. One year recently, I don't remember which but probably 2013 or 2012, Buick was the only brand to lower it's ABA, everyone else moved up.
  11. I think he left lincoln on life support with no real road to recovery. He let the F-150 and related SUVs grow stale on the vine. He lead the infotainment war by having one of the best early entries into the field only to leave it to rot on the vine with no real updates.... He made sure the small/mid car areas were taken care of with new platforms.... One Ford is a laudable goal. Overall I give him a mix grade
  12. most of this was in place before Mulally left
  13. The Lambas on sale today are barely 2 years old. They were extensively refreshed for MY2013, basically all new inside and out with only the second/third row seating being largely carry over. The engines were tweaked and the transmission innards were completely replaced. The continue to be strong sellers because they are pretty much the biggest in their class without going to a BOF SUV and you don't take a MPG hit. 98% of a Tahoe inside without the cost or fuel economy penalty is a pretty good reason.
  14. Good morning from the Pittsburgh international race complex. I'm visiting with Lingenfelter performance today and will be taking a couple laps in their Camaro with driver Danny Popp.
  15. No.. it's just an abundance of caution. A lot of the recalls could have been TSBs but GM is recalling them anyway. I recall one of the recalls is a "The key is still in the ignition you dummy" chime that doesn't sound if the silverado/sierra is equipped with a certain radio. On my Buick, the recall is to check how tight the bolts that hold the seat to the floor are torqued down..... not exactly life threatening stuff.
  16. With the exception the center stack, the interior on the Trax is substantially better than the Soul. "may have AWD in the future" is a nice idea, but that doesn't sell cars to people who want AWD today.
  17. I think this car should stick with Turbo-4s and not get V6es. It would ruin the balance the car has. It's the same reasoning I prefer the ATS 2.0T to the 3.6.
  18. people, OEMs, everyone is asking insane prices for everything these days. there seems to be a huge inflation in pricing over the last 4 years.
  19. quick on the trigger lately... recalls instead of TSBs.
  20. Would never fit. I've been told that even the 2.0T is too big. The 1.7 diesel is probably near the top displacement they could get in there from the current available engines. Anything more and they'd need to get fancy with cylinder counts (really big 3 cylinder) or go to a V4 arrangement.
  21. Don't your legs ever get tired from all the time you spend moving the goal posts? 3 years ago you were whining that Cadillacs were too big and too heavy, but as soon as Cadillac comes out with a car that is the same size and lighter than the Germans, those traits don't seem to matter anymore. The 3.6 today is not the same 3.6 from 2004. ... just the same as the 2.0T in the Regal today is not the same as the 2.0T from 9 years ago. Just because the displacement number is the same, doesn't make it the same engine.
  22. Yes, they are Sonic related. Clearly I'm a fan... we've been very happy with our Encore. My only wish (for the Buick) is that they could offer a bump in horsepower. The 1.6T from Europe with 200 horsepower would be just about right. Edit, or the 1.7 diesel they offer in the Mokka.
  23. The EPA just told benz to reduce the MPG estimates for the E-class.
  24. Conservative sells though... Chevy has a chance to corner the market on people who don't like the weird looking Juke. There is also a material difference in interior room inside the Trax compared to the Juke. When the front seat is adjusted for me, I can sit in the rear seat of the Trax.... not so with the Juke.
