  1. Now? No.... wait for the company valuation to come back closer to reality first. I don't think any company would buy them right now with a $28B stock market valuation.... that is a guarantee to lose money.
  2. I'm no Hyundai fan, but I'd have to agree.
  3. No... he'll sell to one of the big-guys first. I could see one of the Germans trying to pick up Tesla or possibly even GM. GM sees them as enough of a threat and has the "if you can't beat'em, buy'em" mentality that Google and Microsoft have.
  4. Well, it does have tiny 16 inch wheels, compared to 20 or more of '14 era SUVs. Michelins on the DTS were around $800 last year IIRC. 15s on the CR-V would have been $560 out the door I think for Michelins had I not had a good treadwear warranty.
  5. You can always wait a couple years and pick up a CPO one... Since modern trucks hold their value so well, new almost makes sense to buy new. QFT.... I regularly see Avalanches, 2010 and older, with 60k+ miles that are still commanding $35k The latest thing I've seen is the Jeep Grand Cherokees. A 2013 with 45k miles (how does someone even do that?!?) for basically the same price as a new one.... what's the point? Even our Encore is holding its value very nicely... we'll probably end up buying it out at the end of the lease because it will be worth more than we owe on it. I saw an Encore on the road the other day. I am not a crossover/fourdoor kind of a guy, but that thing tempted me. VERY nice vehicle. Same with the Grand Cherokee you are talking about. I cannot think of ANY european or asian SUV at ANY price that I would rather have. American car makers are really, really bringing their A game and it shows. It was out of place in our driveway over the weekend while I was working on the other car.... I was admiring it from another perspective as I was sitting on the ground. It really is a perky, spunky little bulldog of a car, yet with luxury appointments. I'm very happy with it. At the end of June we'll have had it 10 months... it has 8000 miles on it now... probably won't see 8500 before July 1 (at which point we go away for a few weeks). The buyout on the lease in 14 months is $21.8k and KBB values it at $29k now on a vehicle we leased for $32.5k. I think I won this bet.
  6. Well... they're not. The Dodge brand is converting to a sporting brand. The T&C will carry on. One less badge engineered vehicle at the Chrysler company now. I think it has more to do with the fact that the direct competition in that price class is predominantly 2-row crossovers. Except for the stupid niche vehicles, Cadillac wants to have an option, model for model, for everything you might buy at the BMW dealership up the street.
  7. Eh.. I think the new Sonata will do well... it is rather conservative and the new Camry turned into this weird looking Corolla/Avalon mongrel.

  9. Like the Graham
  10. but the car isn't actually down?
  11. Interesting.... I wonder if the SRX will go down in exterior size while staying the same in interior size. (It's X3 sized inside while almost X5 sized outside) Then this new crossover could be an X5/M-Class direct competitor. My concern would be about body-mass. Unless the new platform sheds a lot of mass, building a 2-row crossover on a 3-row platform could lead to an overly heavy SUV.
  12. Never fear Z, his new computer is C&G certified..... I saw to that personally.
  13. Stock price has nothing to do with Tesla's cash situation. As long as they have cash... they can build cars. Elon Musk is worth $11.6 billion alone.... as long as he is willing to put cash into the company, Tesla will survive. Tesla is a personal source of pride for Elon, so I don't think he'll walk away that easily.
  14. They are good trucks, but not $45K good.. for that price I can get an extremely nice V8 Ram 1500
  15. Yay!
  16. the coupe needs a different model name..... name it Tiburon even
  17. but is this on D2XX or a refresh of the current car?
  18. The public's attention span can't go much longer than 4 years for most vehicles, though there seem to be some extreme exceptions to that rule....
  19. Who wants to put all that work into an engine just to get good power and reliability out of it? It should come from the factory that way.
  20. but that's just it.... the reason it was done that way was due to complaints about daytime closures.
  21. Eh... in my interactions with Hyundai reps... they specifically mention S-Class.
  22. The problem is that no one ever wants to pay for anything and they never want to be inconvenienced. There is one project going on near me where they are only allowed to do work after 10pm and before 6am, so they end up paying a bunch extra to have overnight workers.
  23. The strange fall-out from this is that now all car makers are going to be rushing out with big recalls. My bet is that we'll see a bunch of big recalls announce over the next few months and the GM recalls will kind of be drowned out in the noise.
  24. Hyundai desperately wants this to compete with the S-Class... and it simply doesn't. Besides... if that's the case, then what is the Equus for?
