Pioneering scientists turn fresh air into petrol
The neat thing about the Volt is that it is version 1.0. It doesn't care how you spin the generator. Want to use butterfly farts as fuel for a diesel wankle engine? The Volt doesn't care. Run turbines, run sterling engines, run wankles, run diesel... it doesn't matter. The Volt will drive exactly the same no matter what. No concerns on "throttle responsiveness" no concerns on acceleration.... the gasoline engine becomes a non-issue.

Help me buy a SMRT FONE
Palm Treo, Windows Mobile, Windows Mobile (again), HTC Hero, Samsung Galaxy II Simultaniously Blackberries of every generation going back to 2003. I've had to carry two cell phones since then.

GoDaddy is a different kind of host. C&G is too big and bulky to run on that style of server. That said, we're going to have to move. We've had 4 major outages in 45 days, none of which were our fault.

My Toronado can make it through fairly deep snow just fine thanks.

2013 Honda Accord Sport automatic CVT sedan
Go from a Buick Verano Turbo to an Acura ILX Turbo and you'll reach for your ear plugs. Excessive road and engine noise is something that really jumps out at me when present in a car. The new Altima is another recent offender in this regard.

Help me buy a SMRT FONE
I'm very happy with my Samsung Galaxy SII, and I look forward to having the Galaxy S3.... but not with Sprint. It is an awesome phone hampered by a sub-par network. As for tweeting, you'll want Tweetdeck anyway if you are going to be doing anything like power tweeting. If you are just going to post "My cat is cute, tee hee" on twitter, then yes, the iPhone app is fine. The camera in the Galaxy is quite good for a phone. Mine is 8mp and does camera duty for many of the pics you see in my reviews.

Sandy
Wind, yes, we'll escape that. Flooding, no. We have a lot of problems with flooding, and it rained for 3 days straight before Sandy got here.

I drove home from Allentown PA yesterday (in the ZL1) and there were just rows and rows of bucket trucks, trailers with generators, RVs and Campers all headed east on I-78. Here in Pittsburgh, if it weren't for the TV blaring about the Frankenstorm, it'd be just a typical rainy fall day here.

Chevrolet News:Chevrolet Sonic Falls Into Dusk
i'm not too worried about the power. while it would be nice to have a bigger power option (Hello 1.6T with 200 ft/lbs @1500rpm!) the truth is the 1.4T is plenty for 95% of buyers of this car.

GM News: GM and PSA Announce Four New Co-Developed Platforms
Probably because the platforms aren't done yet. Though I wonder what GM has up their sleeve. I am curious if there is either A) another larger FWD platform hanging around out there we don't know about yet or B) much larger use of alpha than we currently expect or C) much larger use of Omega than we currently expect. I really can't see GM using a Euro sized mid-size platform shared with Citroen to move the Lacrosse up in status or replace Epsydos under the Impala.

Sad news, but also sadly predicable.

Chevrolet News:Meet The New LT1 V8 For The C7
I use Albert as my "consumer focus group - subgroup: people dumb about cars".... in the nicest way possible of course. Anyone who drives a Honda or Toyota has been conditioned into thinking that when the "Service Required Soon" light starts flashing, then it is time to get an oil change. It could be 3,000 miles or 15,000 miles... they ignore the sticker as long as that light isn't on.

That is about as nice a compact as you'll be able to buy without going to a premium brand.

Chevrolet News:Meet The New LT1 V8 For The C7
Dexos is just an oil rating. There are many many different Dexos rated oils. They are all basically the 5w-30 version of a brand's full synthetic product. It's actually better than recommending Mobile 1 because it is now not brand specific. Ask yourself this, why would GM want to be stamping Mobile1's brand on the engine cover of all of their products? But there is very little debate over whether synthetic oil is more healthy for an engine or not. It is... and it is within GM's rights to require its use for the car to be under warranty.
