Some of the numbers are pretty fascinating. Guess I discounted Huckabee a little early, sorry Mike, you seem like a nice guy, I just really dont want you to be president. Obama did really well in Idaho, like 80%, that one surprised me, mostly because I figured there were only about 8 democrats in Idaho. Proportional delegate distribution is stupid and makes the process a pain to sort through, someone please forward this info to the DNC. Mike Gravel got no love, even in Alaska. He raised 10% of what Kucinich got, I just had to root for him. Didn't vote for him, but had to root for him. More surprising was the lack of Ron Paul votes.

I really think he will, and I really think it will be a good thing for the country. He has raised a ton of money, but hasn't been able to turn that into votes. Everyone (it seems) knows who he is and what he's about, but Republican primary voters are passing over him. I really expected him to win New Hampshire. On Meet the Press several weeks ago, he refused to rule out running as a third party, like I said, if he does its good for the country. If people finally take him seriously, he could win, especially if Romney (maybe too conservative) and Clinton (very divisive figure) are the two major party candidates. Otherwise he's either going to be Perot (exit polls showed his voters would have split almost evenly between Bush and Clinton, so he didn't have a big outcome on the result) or Nader (cost Gore the election in 2000).

An ungodly number of states(22 maybe?) are holding primaries/caucuses today. Go vote. Yes, its just a primary, and yes all the candidates have flaws, but if you dont vote now you're not allowed to bitch about the candidates on the ballot in November. My (rather safe) predictions: Republicans: Romney has a strong showing in MA and UT, McCain squeaks by him in the rest of the states. Ron Paul comes in a pretty respectable third, drops out of the Republican race, waits a bit, then announces he is running as a third party candidate (he ran as a Libertarian in '88) and becomes the first semi-viable third party candidate since Perot in '92. Democrats: More of the same, votes will be split between Clinton and Obama (Mike Gravel may get a sympathy vote), this will drag for what seems like forever. The important thing: GO VOTE!

Love the gauges, otherwise dark and bland and square. Really, did they think surroundeing the gauges with silver and doing the steering wheel spokes the same way would liven it up? Not as atrocious as many Chrysler interiors, but not something that will seal the deal. Lucky for Chrysler no Challenger buyers are going to need an A++ interior to seal the deal.

The Giants d-line played exceptionally well. Games are still won and lost in the trenches. Funny story, I was on the phone with someone in Foxborough tonight (the Bass Pro there is apparently quite near Gilette Stadium) and while making small talk I asked if they had watched the game, failing to remember that I was talking to a New Englander. Needless to say, I was subjected to a combination of tears and vulgarities.

Another one of those old-skool Dakota convertibles. God those things look goofy.

They couldn't pimp the Escort because it was too unsafe to be driven being that it was at least two Escorts Frankensteined together, so they got the guy a Scion. I'm not sure that it would be really safe to drive the Shadow even with patchwork, the pics posted dont instill confidence. In the long run, you would probably be better off whoring yourself out to a few fat chicks then taking $500 and buying an '87 Delta 88.
-
The guy ended up with a new Scion, is that how you want to wind up?
-
You ever see the episode of Pimp My Ride with the guy who had an Escort that was two Escorts welded together?
-
Do you remember who you're talking about? Anyways, that was a very good game. Good to see the Pats lose after everyone anointed them.

Electrics tend to be harder on the skin and not get as close as regular razors.

I just want a Mini or Fiat 500 or classic Beetle.

Since all the old b-pillar whining died down, there has been a new batch of whining, Zeta whining, and both sides are getting pretty annoying.

I have a Mach 3 and a Quattro, but both need new heads.

Ok, so I'm not so much growing one as I am afraid to shave because I've been busy the last few days and haven't been shaving and now I have the beginnings of a beard and shaving it off will hurt like a bitch because of the crappy disposable BIC I have been using for like 6 weeks now.

Worst. Transmission. EVAR! The clutch is retarded, and some jackass thought it would be a great idea to gear it so at 70mph on the highway, the engine is turning at 3300rpm. Plus, it doesn't like going into reverse when its below freezing out, still have no clue what thats all about. I'd buy another Fusion, just not a stick unless they made some changes.
-
Touchless is for pussies. I love my local auto-wash with the big things that beat the $h! out of my every time I drive through. It does things to the Fusion that I only wish I could do, like spend 5 minutes hitting it.

How many new oil deposits can be found for $11.7 billion? How many refineries can be built for that money? A large portion of any companies profit is going back into the company, the thing with oil is that it takes years for increased production to positively effect consumers. That is, if the supply increases at a faster rate than demand, if demand increases at a faster rate, then production increases just catch supply up with demand. Its not entirely big oil's fault that gas prices are so high (thats what all the bitching boils down to) you can blame a good portion of it on local governments. Different areas require different fuel blends be sold, sometimes its county-by-county or even city-by-city, the additives and whatnot aren't consistent because of regulations. That means the gas has to be produced separately and shipped separately, thats costly. Yes, their execs do make a f@#k-ton of money, but they also have a lot of $h! to deal with, and if the company flourishes under their leadership, why are they not entitled to a portion of that?

I wouldn't put it past my father to do that. I'd love to drop a diesel (maybe VW's own TDI?) into an old Bug.

Didn't make it over there, but just so everyone knows, this isn't an actual Chevy dealership, its a specialty car dealership, dealing in high end Mercedes and the like.

I'd drive the 77. It sounds like the floorboards are solid, but the trunk has some rust, I need to take a close look, the area under the spare is problematic. '77s seem to be pretty unloved amongst collectors, so I wont feel bad if I put a bunch of miles on it and maybe leave a dent or two in the roof.

In the 60's and 70's my parents collected Beetles like they were going out of style. My dad and a friend of his could yank an engine, tear it down, reassemble and throw it back in the car in no time. Eventually having kids caught up and my dad hasn't owned one in years. Cut to 2007. I spent insane amounts of time looking for a "kayak car" that I would be cheap, reliable and I could use for a handful of mile per year at least, ideally it would be reliable enough to let me unload my Fusion. After having a few things fall through (still pissed about the '87 Caprice wagon" I put my search off until spring 2008. Cut to yesterday. During a casual conversation, I learn of a guy selling two VW Beetles. One complete running 1977, not in the greatest shape, but its solid. The other is a '63 thats in boxes, ready to restore. $2000 for the set. My dad would then pay me $1000 for the '63. I am so totally tempted, but the guy isn't in a big hurry to sell, so I'm going to mull it over a bit.

Wow...Z Auto Group, never heard of 'em, not an obvious location. If I get a chance, I'll swing by usually when I'm in that part of town, I'm running late. Uggg...it has those stupid Hybrid graphics.
