  1. "The car you can't ignore" needs to be chucked completely in favor of "We're tired of being a foreign car in our own country."
  2. I've been laid off 3 times in my relatively short working life. I have no sympathy for these people. Especially knowing they're about to get some ridiculous signing bonus. There are so many people who would love to have their jobs with their wages.
  3. I'd rather it have GM's corporate radio than that confusing mess it has right now. Other than that I love the Astra.
  4. GM can find the money for 2 versions of the BLS but they can't find the money to give Chevy's Lambda all original sheetmetal? 1 step forward, 2 steps back.
  5. Likes uncomfortably similar to the Ford Taurus.

I love the FX but don't like this. It looks like a Hyundai.
  7. The doors look like the ones from the Acadialook. The top of the roof slopes down towards the back like the Enclave. I was really hoping this would look like the Sequel but I don't think it will.
  8. I think the wood grain only looks good with the 2 tone grey and beige interiors. It look out of place smake dab in the middle of all that grey.
  9. Noticeably absent from the article was talk of any 4 cylinder disel or small displacement 4 cylinder with direct injection.
  10. We have to wait until 2011 for a redesigned Cobalt? It's like GM doesn't even care about the small car market.
  11. Cobalt is 39.7% fleet. Ouch. Sometimes I think GM should have kept the Cavalier name. At least people knew it.
  12. GM should have taken the design of the new Commodore and transfered it as much as possible to the new Malibu. I'm really not feeling this design.
  13. Get back to me when one of the Lambda's outsells the Edge.
  14. The Edge has the better design. It stands out more. The Edge will continue to outsell the Lambda twins for the forseeable future. Blame Lutz for not being "edge"y enough.
  15. Does anyone here know for sure whether or not the Chevy Lambda will look like the Acadia/Outlook?
  16. If they wanted to, couldn't GM and Ford hire non-union people across the board once the UAW's contract is over?
  17. http://www.detnews.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20070317/AUTO01/703170369/1148 "And, in Atlanta, a major Chevrolet dealer is airing a radio ad stating, "Toyota contributes more to our staggering national trade deficit than any manufacturer." I'm the last person to import bash, but if this is true, then from pure PR standpoint, this is gold for GM and Ford.
  18. Now I have 2 times the hate for the BLS! Seriously, the BLS is ugly in sedan form and now in wagon form. GM should have waited for the new CTS before it started pushing the Cadillac brand in Europe. The BLS looks like a rush job.
  19. I don't see the point of this poll. It's completely meaningless. The only "poll" that will matter is the one that shows GM posting month-to-month retail sales increase without the use of heavy incentives or 0% financing promotions.
  20. I don't like it at all. GM can do much better.
  21. I think GM would only buy Chrysler with the intention of selling it in the not too distant future. Because Chrysler needs and is about to undergo a restructuring, GM could get a fairly good deal. It's not as profitable as it could be and DCX wants to get rid of it. A few years down the road after the restructuring is complete GM could sell Chrysler at a profit. That's assuming the restructuring goes well and Chrysler sales don't nosedive. In the meantime GM could use it's bigger clout to negotiate supplier price cuts for both GM and Chrysler, probably even throwing some current Chrysler supplier work to a post-bankruptcy Delphi of which GM will most likely own a small portion. If Chrysler Financial is part of the sale, GM would fold that into GMAC. GM would take ownership of things it wants from Chrysler, like engines and transmissions. GM could even steal some Chrysler designs in the pipline for it's own brands. Once all that is done, GM sells Chrysler. The new owner would pay GM a license fee for the right to use the engines and transmissions if it needs them. GM sets up joint purchasing agreements for parts with the new company and gets a guarantee of some supply work for Delphi. And depending on whether or not GM buys Chrysler Financial GM could guarantee that Chrysler continues to use GMAC for auto loans. That's the only way any of this would make sense to me.
  22. You can only talk about driving characteristics of a car only after driving one. However, you can absolutely form an opinion on a car's design after seeing pictures. Design is all about lines, form and shape which is what is captured in a photograph.
  23. The new issue of Motor Trend has a really great rendering of the next Impala. I actually think the design they have would make a much better G8. The front end would need a redo but the rest of the body looks much more fitting for a Pontiac than a Chevy. I'd make the new Caprice the next Impala.
  24. Does anyone know if GM has an overall plan for Pontiac? The G8 is great but it does seem somewhat stopgappish. The fact that every GM division except Pontiac is getting product new from the ground up specifically made for America is strange to me.
  25. I still say the design is not aggressive enough for a Pontiac. That design, maybe not necessarily the architecture, should have been the new Malibu. having said that I still think it's fantastic and can't believe we're getting a car this great. Way to go GM.
