  3. I drove a 5-door BMW 120d (177hp diesel) for 3 days while the Mini was in the shop for service and.... wow, what a great car! Sustaining speeds of 125mph on the motorway for an hour or so felt completely effortless! I believe I got the 1-Series bug...

  6. Thanks! April 25th is the day a military coup ended a dictatorship, and Santo Antonio is Lisbon's patron saint.
  7. Pay off is a huge overstatement, swap is more like it. If GM turns around maybe some dividends (as well as some capital gains if they sell the shares at a gain) will end up on current bondholders' pockets.
  8. It was the 1st thing that came to mind. Resposne to thread: Bel Air
  9. Feliz Cinco de Mayo.
  10. Gaudi
  11. Different from the 5-door Astra with a Buick grille caught testing in China? Or is the sedan to bring back a nameplate such as the Ascona? I'd like to see a full range too. If the sweepspear(sp?) was atrademark of old Buicks, mybe this can be a styling cue for the new-Buick.
  12. I think the whole concept/idea behind the Genesis is exactly what the Pontiac G6 should have been.
  13. debatable taste
  14. Nope, the real thought behind protectionism is to turn protectionist because domestic players were unable to learn from their mistakes and improve. One can think of it as sweeping dirt under the carpet. :AH-HA_wink:
  15. 6-pack It amazingly associates with beer, gut and situps all in one go!
  16. Yes, same platform. The issue here is that Fiat and Opel are direct competitors. Too much overlap, so the brand that is acquired is the weakest link if things go sour.
  17. friar as in Friar Tuck from Robin Hood
  18. Looking closely at the rear door on those sedan pics, I see the same 'boomerang' (for lack of a better word) as in the 5-door Astra...

  20. I'd see something like the Solstice being sold as the Pontiac if and when GM gets its act together. But at this point that's just dreaming...
  21. The Kuga costs some 40K EUR here in Portugal: it's so overpriced that it's automatically out of consideration. The 500 Abarth's body kit is not to my liking, I prefer looks of the non-Abarth versions. Fiesta and Focus are very nice cars for their segments and I want to see the new Focus almost as much as I want to see the new Astra. Not that I'm planning to trade my car, but it all points to staying with MINI.
  22. On May 2nd 2009: another MINI? An Alfa MiTo? Part of me would like to buy the upcoming MINI SUV, just because it borders on being nonsense to have a MINI SUV that shares nothing in concept to the old MINI Moke...
