I drove a 5-door BMW 120d (177hp diesel) for 3 days while the Mini was in the shop for service and.... wow, what a great car! Sustaining speeds of 125mph on the motorway for an hour or so felt completely effortless! I believe I got the 1-Series bug...

Pay off is a huge overstatement, swap is more like it. If GM turns around maybe some dividends (as well as some capital gains if they sell the shares at a gain) will end up on current bondholders' pockets.

Different from the 5-door Astra with a Buick grille caught testing in China? Or is the sedan to bring back a nameplate such as the Ascona? I'd like to see a full range too. If the sweepspear(sp?) was atrademark of old Buicks, mybe this can be a styling cue for the new-Buick.

Yes, same platform. The issue here is that Fiat and Opel are direct competitors. Too much overlap, so the brand that is acquired is the weakest link if things go sour.

I'd see something like the Solstice being sold as the Pontiac if and when GM gets its act together. But at this point that's just dreaming...

The Kuga costs some 40K EUR here in Portugal: it's so overpriced that it's automatically out of consideration. The 500 Abarth's body kit is not to my liking, I prefer looks of the non-Abarth versions. Fiesta and Focus are very nice cars for their segments and I want to see the new Focus almost as much as I want to see the new Astra. Not that I'm planning to trade my car, but it all points to staying with MINI.
