  1. Ahh, more electical nannies to protect ourselves from ourselves....
  2. I agree with that article 100% That guy should definitely win an award for something as straightforward and honest as that. It made a lot of sense without drowning the reader in techno-babble or numbers (not that I wouldn't mind a few more figures here and there).
  3. I'll be honest, I don't pay attention to the crash stuff, that may make me a bad person, or a bad dad, but I really don't look at that stuff. I look at the mechanicals, the ability for me to get under the hood and work on it (since I have the equipment to do so), I look at the styling, the performance, and the price. I'm not too huge on knowing how badly my legs are going to be broken when the vehicle folds up onto them. Hell if I get into an accident, I'll find out then.
  4. Well you don't need the lugs to loosen if the wheel bearing lets go and the whole smashes goes leaving the vehicle, wheel, lugs, nuts, and all.
  5. I can't really do much but the line from the song "Convoy" is "We're Gonna Roll This Trucking Convoy Across the USA"
  6. It'd be all in how you drive it.
  7. By the way guys if you see the orbs in the dedication pictures, not to get all supernatural on you, but I've had them checked out by a couple of photo labs and they can't explain what they are, so I'm going to just call them Angels and let it be that.
  8. Here's some of me and the family! From Heather's Dedication: Me, Heather, Heather Amy, Heather, me and Amy: And finally, my brother in law Alex (The big, bad, just got back from Iraq, United States Marine!): Him looks a little scared to hold a baby, guess him thinks he'll break it.
  9. All right, I know venting isn't something I do regularly on here, but this time I have to. Today was "lets order everything from CarQuest at once" day. I've never filled so many big freaking orders in my life. First call of the day: Its one of our bigger shops with 12 service bays total, 8 indoor, 2 outdoor, and 2 alignment racks. Well guess what... THEY"RE ALL FULL, and he needs parts for every single one of 'em. Normally vehicles are split into different tickets with different PO's from this customer, but this time he didn't even have time to give me different PO's, he just said to put it all on one ticket and use SHOP as the PO, so away I went: Bay 1: 2002 Chevy K1500, Front axles, hubs, rotors, loaded calipers, brake hoses Bay 2: 1998 Honda Accord 2.2L, Timing belt, Timing tensioner/idlers, Water pump, Thermostat, Radiator hoses, Cam seals, Crank seal, the other drive belts Bay 3: 1985 Caddy DeVille, Spark plugs, wires, cap, rotor, pcv valve, oil filter, air filter, fuel filter, transmission filter Bay 4: 1997 Toyota Camry, Front pads, front rotors Bay 5: 2001 Mercury Mountaineer 5.0L, Spark plugs, wires, pcv valve, air filter, fuel filter Bay 6: 1998 Ford Crown Vic, Front pads and rotors Bay 7: 1998 Acura 3.2TL, thermostat, radiator hoses Bay 8: 2001 Chevy C1500 U-joints Bay 9 (alignment rack): 1997 Chevy K3500, Pitman arm, Idler arm, Centerlink, Steering stabilizer, inner & outer tie rod ends, and adjustment sleeves Bay 10 (alignment rack) 2003 Ford Excursion, Tie rod ends, front shocks Bay 11 (outdoor): 1997 Chevy Lumina struts all the way around Bay 12 (outdoor): 1992 Chevy C1500, rear shoes, drums, wheel cylinders, hardware and rear brake hose So after rounding all the stuff up, the next shop that calls us is one of our ambulance shops, they've got three ambulances down for service. 2003 Ford E350 6.0L Dsl A/C compressor, Accumulator, Orifice Tube, drive belt 2002 GMC G3500 6.0L, Air filter, Fuel filter, plugs, wires 1998 Ford E350 7.3L Dsl, Belt, Alternator, Power steering pump, and P/S pressure hose And the third order before I decided that I needed a fifteen minute break to go and rest: One of our H/D Fleet service shops calls: 2000 Chevy C5500, Wheel bearings and seals 1977 Ford F700, belts, alternator, water pump, front brakes 1994 GMC TopKick, front and rear loaded calipers 1995 GMC Safari, plugs, wires, air filter, fuel filter, front pads, front rotors, front wheel bearings and seals, oil pan gasket, valve cover gaskets, blower motor (apparently this thing had multiple problems) headlight switch, and power brake booster. Anyway it goes, y'all think I had a busy Saturday?
  10. Umm....uhhh.....ouch!
  11. That is true, but I'm used to seeing LOTS of stuff used as police cruisers around here. There's even a Caddilac DeVille cop car here.
  12. oh my god! I really needed that one! :rotflmao:
  13. That's similar to the Impalas, Chargers, Tahoes, and unmarked Crown Vics we have here.
  14. Terminator
  15. Internally they're essentially the same transmission. the only difference is that the 65e is a fully electronic model, just like you said.
  16. Hey guys, at least you weren't down about 80 miles south of here a couple of days ago....
  17. LOL, I needed that! :rotflmao:
  18. I can't really say anymore than what has already been said. What I'd do is look at the overall height of your current wheel/tire combo. Then the overall height of the one you're going to. If they're within about a 1/2" of each other you're fine. Also, just because the van you have also offered a 16" wheel/tire combo doesn't mean it'll be a direct swap sometimes. The wheel hub assembly could be different from one to another.
  19. Yeah, normally the Coolant Temp Sensor signal below regulating temperature means that the CTS has gone haywire. More times than not, its located next to the Thermostat housing, so if you really wanted to, you could always slap a new thermostat into place whilst your at it.
  20. I'd do the transmission, then the power steering then the coolant leak, since it didn't look like too big a leak.
  21. I didn't get a chance to watch the race, but I did get to listen to it on the radio all day. I wasn't too terribly happy that Dale Jr. didn't do that great, but I am glad that Harvick took the win. I just wish that the car would have been black, the number would have been 3, and the driver would have been Dale Earnhardt, Sr. He was a great driver that is still missed sorely to this day.
  22. that's cool. There's a place up the road from my parent's house and land that no one lives on, but its got a '63 Pontiac Grand Prix sitting in the back yard just collecting dust.....
  23. You know, the driveway at our house had some ice on it a week or so back and all I did was get a little bit of a running start with my Impala, kick the traction system off and poured on the power. It climbed the hill, tires spinning the whole way, but the point is, it climbed the hill.
  24. Yeah, I really wish that I had a rich uncle somewhere that would go and have a barn full of classic cars.
