How to pronounce "Ecotec"
But how many people ecology or economy as EEkology, and EEKonomy. I'd think most people would say ek-ology, ek-onomy, and thus ek-o-tek.

Outlook Horsepower/Torque Question
This is GM remember, they would have said 265 hp for both. These are still preliminary though, and could change once they get certified numbers. Note that Ford is following GM's lead and getting new engines certified, with more power from the new 3.5 L AJ-V6.The slight difference in power between the single and dual-exhaust setups shows that the dual-system is mostly cosmetic, as most systems are, especially with transverse engine applications.

How do you say it?
Merriam has several different pronunciation variations: en-claive (en as in pen, ai- as in day[i is modified to y at the end of words for clarity]) aun-claive or aunclauve (au- as in bother) auŋ-clauve (ŋ=ing/eng, in sing, saŋk) I go for aunclaive. The -clave is from clavus=key, and refers to a gated community, specifically of foreign origin.

Audi can do whatever they like because no-one can come near them in sports prototype racing.

New York: 2007 Suzuki XL7
If GM has any sense they'll pitch the large GMC theta as a replacement for the Rendezvous, matched against the Highlander and Murano at the higher price-after all it will be about the right size and could easily offer 7 seats. But that is probably too much to hope for. GM NA routinely tried to compete with a stripped-down larger model priced against (or below) smaller, well-equipped competitors. They should know by now it doesn't work.

New York: 2007 Suzuki XL7
I will repeat—GM is pitching the Equinox and Torrent as competitors for the Escape and Tribute etc.. The Suzuki XL-7 is pitched against the Highlander and Murano etc. Higher segment=higher price=more content. If the Equinox and Torrent had been designed and marketed against the Highlander etc., you'd probably get better equipment, and GM might have better margins. The much smaller Vue is a better match to the new-generation Outlander, Santa Fe and RAV4.

New York: 2007 Suzuki SX4
It is a partial replacement. The Aerio is also known as the Liana, sold mostly as a wagon outside NA and Japan. This is the Liana SX-4. The sedan is possibly more important in some markets such as NA, so there may be a separate model replacing the Aerio sedan, but maybe not.

New York: 2007 Suzuki SX4
Guess that's what makes it a crossover. It's a direct replacement for the Aerio SX wagon. In some markets it's sold in both fwd wagon and butch awd crossover forms.

New York: 2007 Suzuki XL7
Easy—Suzuki sells theirs as a midsize SUV, GM sells theirs as much cheaper compacts.

New York: 2007 Suzuki XL7
Longer overhangs than the Equinox and Torrent, same wheelbase.

07 Maxima
So why do all those boast more power. FYI under the new SAE standard power drops from 265-255 hp, an torque from 255-152 lb-ft. Avalon? 268 hp, Azera 263 hp. The 500 and Lucerne, OK, one is a cheap family car, not a premium sedan, and the other is a much bigger grösser limousine.

2007 Nissan Altima
That was my point — the "new" D-platform is the Teana's shorter version of the FF-L platform. Although NNA has made greater changes than I first thought, under the skin it remains the same platform as the Teana, SM5 and SM7. Much wider wheel-arches and a new body do not create a new platform. The W-body has recieved much greater updates over the years.

2007 Nissan Altima
And now we see what all the Teana/SM5s were all about—this is an SM5 with a cosmetic update to the front and rear fascias, not a new platform at all.

Lexus LS600h 5.0L V8
"The all-wheel-drive LS600h will be launched in Australia in the first half of 2007. It will be the world’s first vehicle of any class or category to feature a full hybrid V8 powertrain." They'll be cutting it fine then. Durango and Tahoe V8 full hybrids arrive in 2007 as well.

AT My Dads Plant
The buyouts are limited in cases where plants would not have enough staff remaining. If too many people from one plant apply my guess is they'll approach some to stay a few more years. Of course a lot of people may come from Delphi.

It's not 150 hp, it's 150 PS, or 148 hp. VW forgot they need to convert the units, something they regularly, but not always, forget to do.

Should GM's CEO get the boot?
"GM (GM, news, msgs) recently discovered that it underreported its 2005 losses by $2 billion." Either this guy's an opinionated moron (quite possible) or straight liar. GM did not "discover" it lost more money, it set aside a bigger charge as the minimum cost for the Delphi restructure escalated.

VOLKSWAGEN RABBIT SPRINGS INTO NEW YORK
Golf fits with Polo, Rabbit with Fox (there is a Fox, a neat B/C-segment hatch that they should be selling in the US).

Yeah, press photos are routinely run through Photoshop, especially to change backgrounds, but also to tweak the image in other ways. The G6 GXP even had an auto interior tweaked with new trim and a manual transmission (but no clutch) all done "officially" in something like Photoshop.
