I tried running my truck in neutral while coasting downhill, it actually burns more fuel according to the DIC. While coasting in gear the AFM runs in 4 cylinder while in neutral the engine runs in 8. Remember the best way to conserve fuel is to drive like you are 90: stay at the speed limit and accelerate lightly.

The truth is that oil is non-renewable and we may be running on empty soon enough. The good news is US oil shale will have to be exploited soon enough, bringing the US more control over itself.

I totally Agree, although most of us lust for the yesteryears of huge rwd sedans, those days are gone. I think the EPII cars from GM will be large enough to satisify most peoples needs. Sadly they will not satisify most C&G forumers wants!

Sold my corolla today, I am going to be driving my 4x4 Vortec max everywhere. Hell with gas prices, in a few years these prices will seem cheap. I just hope that high prices discourage people in developing countries from buying too many cars.

I would not agree with moving its HQ outside Detriot, it has a huge automotive history. The HQ location means nothing, just the decisions being made inside the HQ.

There are 2 new 500,000 barrel/day refineries getting built in the Atlantic Provinces to sell directly to the US. Not to Mention there are 9 Upgraders getting built in Alberta. They will Upgrade Heavy oil into Gas oil, Kerosene and Napatha. Diesel is basically Kerosene so I may negate my earlier comments if these all come to fruition. Even though diesel is thought to be simpler to produce it really is a supply and demmand thing. Refineries in North America are designed differently than the ones in europe and only produce 15 percent diesel, 50% gasoline whereas in europe they are at 25% gasoline and 50% diesel(the remainder is jet fuel and gas oils). This is by process and not by operations. Most refineries here use catalytic cracking while in europe they employ hydro cracking. So because there are more diesel trucks on the road than ever there is a very tight suppy / demmand curve. Economics dictate that diesel costs more. We have to get used to it, diesel and gas are going to cost A LOT more very soon!

Its been a rather cold and snowy winter here, right now it's 0c or 32F. Lets forget about climate change and focus on immediate environment damage. We all know about smog but how many know about the footprint that "new" oil finds are leaving. I work at the Suncor Oil Sands in Fort McMurray and Its surreal (It is the plant featured the the documentary).
