Welcome back! It is tough with sales/manager hours in the auto business to do much of anything after (back to back 9-9 days get to you, ha). Glad to see you doing well...and jealous of CA.

Shucks again. I'm close now, but work Friday & Saturday. Looks like nice weather, now heating up again for the weekend.

Glad I don't work in the auto service industry...
caddycruiser replied to A Horse With No Name's topic in The Lounge
The condition people get their cars into is astounding daily...since being in sales for over a year now, the "I don't wanna touch it" trade in test is common. Smells, seats and steering wheels so disgusting you want a full body suit and try not to touch...even when they're only a few years old. -
It is still in the 50's outside. October it is. That was a quick turn. Now to the holidays...hopefully come slowly. Not ready for year end.

Last night. Merging onto the Jersey Turnpike south from the Garden State Parkway, in a BMW 3-series wagon trade myself, I saw white and then flames ahead...passed to see a few year old white BMW M3 coupe spewing flames from underhood and from underneath. Looked like it had just started. What a sight in the dark rainy night.

Cruising to Plymouth Meeting early yesterday morning, a new dark gray 2012 Camry LE/base pulled out behind me...noticed something new, but really as it seems, just the same Camry it's been for years with a body crease added and a less cheap, more detailed looking front silver grille. Cue the hubcaps. Older lady driving. Passed a Toyota dealer later last night and saw a few more on display. Yawn. Chevy dealer next door to work just added a '04-06 Victory Red Silverado SS with color matched hard tonneau cover to their used/Certified. Looks immaculate. Haven't seen an SS in a while, especially not in Philly. Red Dodge Intrepid R/T...been so long since I've seen a non base model, blue smoking Intrepid...but sadly jumped a curb in the middle of an intersection, front wheels cocked and plastic fascia cracked up.

Immaculate and all stock candy red with tan newest of the last gen Acura Legend LS coupe in our service department, hanging around a few days for an extended service of some sort. Legend says it all, and for Philadelphia, amazing to see a stock and immaculate example as so.

Silver '12 Chevy Sonic hatch ready to come off the truck carrier next door.

Sorry for your loss, Roger. This is one of the hardest things to deal with, as pets can be more of a family member than anyone sometimes. Rest in peace. I can't remember if I met both of your dogs when I was up in fall of 2009, but I remember at least one by the garage door.

And again...oh well. Try again Going to be tough to find more of these with such attractive equipment levels but also better condition. With the age, it's tough to find any in better shape from what I can see of the pictures you've posted, except for down south US versions still floating around. Onward. Any others spotted lately?

And I used to be shocked and impressed with the '07 Malibu 2.2L rental I had for a month that always got 37-39 on the highway and was very peppy... Something about a very efficient and spunky 4-cyl sedan that speaks to me. Give me the same but in a wagon version, and I'd like even more.

It has been bizarre. Neighbor is essentially pretending to not be home, and when approached the first time after, accused my mother & little dog of biting hers. You know, the only reason he got attacked on walk...was because they were walking on a leash. It's a strange rule of laws & things. I thought calling the police first was best, as calling the ASPCA netted nothing other than again no blame. She did call the police a couple of days after and was told she did the right thing by calling ASPCA for a report. Huge vet bill, the poor dog has drains in his neck now and no hair, and for several days was petrified to move while also puking, etc. He's old so it just made things tougher. My mother has a friend at the county court and got in touch with someone, starting a civil suit filing on Tuesday. I'm not sure of the outcome, but when there is no acknowledgement of even any wrongdoing, it seems to be the only method to proceed.

It continues. Never did I expect to have so much "water" going on, moving to Philly. Kelly Drive still flooded & closed. Overnight and this morning 76 closed with flooding and mudslides. Mudslides? Completely bizarre. Good thing Thursday is my day off. I'd be trapped if I tried to leave.

Somehow I missed the memo today that the hurricane was back for part 2. I knew it was raining, but not this much. Turned on Fox Philly over breakfast to see Kelly Drive was again completely gone, covered in rushing water at the intersection below where I live. Up to the same level as with Irene. Getting old. Especially when a total surprise. Made a mess for my commute. Had to detour around & around, head north to get south, and so on. So much water...

This is so awesome. I wish the Cruze fit my wants better, as it's so very impressive in many ways. Then again, for the price...hmm. The 6-spd 1.4T Cruze again seems to remain the full tilt sweetheart of the mix.

Back I am, sorta + 2011 Road Trip notes/pics
caddycruiser replied to knightfan26917's topic in The Lounge
Amazing trip & photos. This is on my "must do" list, hopefully before very long. US roadtrip. -
Growing up, my parents always had dogs. And in my lifetime, we always had at least 2. Starting around 2003 and through today, their latest clan includes (3) shelties. Commonly confused as "mini collies...small Lassie". Awesome dogs. 1 is pure bred AKC, female, the other 2 are purebred males from rescues. Varied in size. Parents live on the bay in southern DE, in a nice development with a mile long circle loop street around it, and streets in the middle. Mostly all retired, very nice, very quiet people and a mixture of well behaved dogs. Parents have a completely fenced in back yard that connects to a large rear deck, so the dogs can just be outside and safe all over the back yard with someone. Nightly ritual, take all 3 on a walk, usually 2 people. Last night, as usual, my mother had both males on leash and my younger brother was walking the female with her. Halfway around the circle, my brother apparently looked up and a neighbor's dog was loose (not the first time), he yelled "watch out!" and in the second he & mom had to scramble to try to protect the dogs and themselves, covering them with their bodies in the street, the loose dog tore into mom's smallest & oldest (and most friendly) sheltie Taz, grabbed him by his neck and spun him around several times while mom screamed in horror. The dog's owner just came out to see. Still screaming, blood everywhere as they stood in the street, leashes still on and frozen, they finally got the dog off. Lady acted like nothing happened, beyond usual. My father rescued them by car. On their quiet country street. Called the ASPCA after, because my father talked her out of calling the police. Bad choice. ASPCA basically told her no leash law, and to quote, "people here pay a lot of money to train their dogs to behave so they don't need leashes" and left. Baffled. Taz had 2 big neck puncture wounds. Had to go to the vet, because of internal damage. Operated this morning with the ripped damage and with his age, for the first time outside of other ops he's had, he aspirated and had to be revived. Back alive, he is in serious condition and has to have open neck drains. Mom is a wreck, he's drinking profusely, puking, and shaking if anyone comes near him, and the other 2 dogs unharmed are petrified. Went to the lady's/neighbors house tonight, after several attempts, to confront and give her vet bill. Neighbors response was it was her dog ran out because...my mother and brother were walking by in the street. And that mom's dog had "minor marks" but her dog 3 times the size...loose & out of control...had bites from the small sheltie. Not her problem. Completely baffled, pissed, and can't fathom this. I think cops should have been called first, but alas. Other neighbors know, and in the past, I've had the same mix dog come after me twice when walking/jogging, again loose. Now we have an older dog with neck drains, who died on the OR table, and who can barely function now...after just going for a walk. And a terrible neighbor of course claiming no responsibility, except the reverse. Anyone have ideas? My mother is livid and been in touch with a lot of people aside from balling all day, and ready to do whatever possible. You shouldn't be unable to go on a quiet walk with 3 quiet leashed dogs and end up with one near dead, you at risk, and the attacker's owner psychotically trying to blame in reverse. Poor guy. Mom sent these to me after carting him home, still shaking & in shock. He's a rescue, the best dog we've ever had, with the best attitude of any dog. Such a lover. Had 2 homes before, and still been threw so much, and old as he is. Go for a walk...die on the OR table, be revived...and now. I just don't get people. And now what a mess. Livid, and ready to rush down to DE myself as soon as possible. If you don't care and are not going to control your property, it's your fault and then some when it damages others. Sadly, like a Judge Judy case now, it seems.

Next Infiniti G Gets Some Help From Their New German Friends
caddycruiser replied to William Maley's topic in Infiniti
Interesting combo. Mercedes? Really? The 3.5L Turbo will also be intriguing. The current VQ in the G, aside from powerful, is gruff and as everyone who's ever had or driven one can say, a thirsty sucker. Not sure how they'll improve on that much with a 3.5T, but have to wait and see. -
Very nice. Awesome new 2012 color. First time I saw one in the sun, I liked. After a short but thorough intro to the Fiesta, congrats on the Cruze & adjusting back to GM again.
-
Completely true. Hah. Got higher last night, as the sun came out and all cleared. Drove by at 7, was still nuts. Went for a walk this morning, all has vanished and Kelly Drive is back in action.

Too AWESOME. These cars are terrific. When so rarely equipped with all the gear, absolute knock outs. Especially tow pack, lower rear gears, and better handling/riding FE2 suspension. Great colors too. Only demerit for me are the smaller '94 door mirrors, but oh well. Great car, with service records to boot. Still miss my '95. Oh, if only I just put $1500 cash into upgrade/maintenance and kept it around...
-
It's shocking how quick it happened. I went down Saturday night to check it out, pouring but normal water level. Sunday morning, woosh. Neck deep. Now, how to get to work tomorrow, I'll have to watch the news as to my method of getting on 76.
-
All clear in Philly, except for the flooding. My favorite slalom course known as Kelly Drive at the bottom of my hill vanished. I walked down to see. Corner of Kelly & Midvale here in East Falls. On my way down lady walking says "have you seen IT yet?" Hah. Never lost power here. No damage for me. Parents in DE had more. No power from evening until this AM. Tornado hit Lewes, damaged houses and tore up one. Need to find myself a new route to 76, since the on ramps from down here are covered. Not sure how long it will take to go down.
-
Confirmed tornado in Lewes, DE, destroyed a house and damaged others. More warnings. Now seems things are getting closer to me in Philly, and not totally yet full in Delaware, all to be overnight. Warnings here around me in northwest Philly. Pouring crazy. Street is draining well enough, not over sidewalk or anything.
