  1. you know what they say... everyone rides in a cadilllac at least once...
  2. I think small cars suck and love big luxury yachts... while I prefer to drive a couch on wheels there's certainly a market for small well handling cars... I enjoy one from time to time.
  3. DeSoto pedal car anyone?
  4. I love the Edsel, "chrome pu$$y" and all! Not one of the coolest cars of the late '50s but still cooler than any modern Ford. 1960 is my favorite year.
  5. This one's not GM but one that is close to my heart: (the only FoMoCo product I ever owned for purposes other than a demolition derby) ----- Other day at the junkyard I saw a '92-ish Caprice with a Monte Carlo (crest & knight) emblem glued on the C-pillar over a cheesy canvas top & there was also a few other of these "Monte-Carlprices" around back in the day... musta been some local dealership that came up with this convoluted idea.
  6. Agreed the alphanumerics MUST stop asap. G6: lame name, "eh" product G5: lame name, well suited for a half-assed rebadge attempt G8: lame name, kickass product CTS: lame name, AWESOME product XLR: lame name, cool product EXT: well... you get the point.
  7. I would sell a kidney to have this car. Seriously. Any buyers? A healthy kidney for $24K. http://www.timmismotor.com/scrapbook.php?viewcar=337
  8. LOL. I waited too long, the car is long gone... oh well.
  9. Haven't seen the third yet but I saw the first one in the theaters THREE times. Only movie I've ever seen that many times in a theater... The second movie was what it was... a typical sequel. Seeing a LeMans blue '69 Yenko in motion on the big screen is worth enduring even that amount of bad acting, cheesy rice & half-assed plot-elementness.
  10. Awesome stuff. If that Reliance "Cab Over Truck" was made today it would not be chain drive. The Japanese at least would install a RUBBER belt in its place.
  11. It just has to be a joke. I mean Pontiac is by FAR the coolest of the satellite divisions that still exist. Plymouth is gone, saddly... Oldsmobile is gone, but not forgoten, Mercury is so irrelevant at this point I wonder how the hell Ford can even justify throwing on waterfall grilles & Mercury emblems on what are otherwise 100 percent, blatant, exact clones of Fords/Lincolns. Sad day for sure this is, but Pontiac is actually on the right path... more so than Mercury or Buick or even Lincoln they HAVE a niche and are working to keep it, if they played their cards right a RWD/RB-AWD lineup would make them more relevant than.... possibly ever. Let's remember Pontiac was in dire straights in the 1950s and 1960s, the GTO was born to bring life to a stale lineup. (if only the 2008 lineup was as cool as the "boring" 1963 MY) And lets also not forget that Pontiac was at one point the THIRD best selling car in the USA (and world) behind only Chevy & Ford.
  12. FoG: Well, as with cars our taste in music seems to parallel pretty closely. Justice for All is good stuff but I can't help but feel like Clif would have kicked it up a notch.
  13. I'm 100% with you They hehmorage money with no end in sight, but I will say for the first time since their lanuch almost two decades ago their lineup is relevant. Although it could just as easily be absorbed into BPG & renamed after another GM division of days past with ties to a rocket. (supposedly Saturn was named after the Saturn rocket not the planet?...)
  14. Please do tell:
  15. Get rid of Saab & Hummer. Which should STAY: CCBPGOVH... with recent product even Saturn is relevant.
  16. You know why the French won the French Revolution? Cause their opponent was FRENCH. (yes I do consider that insightful input in this thread)
  17. Agreed! PCS should put this in his pipe & smoke it!
  18. I have not waxed a car since 2002, the week in August when I bought my '68 Camaro. These days I drive cars with patina. Patina doesn't NEED wax. If I ever spend $3000 for a gorgeous paint job (unlikely!) on a '61 Sedan deVille hardtop or a '59 Invicta station wagon then, maybe then I'll make cosmetics a priority. I much rather prefer a 1930s whip that has more patina on it than the hull of an old battleship. You can always buy paint & clearcoat... but patina is EARNED!
  19. Best album from them was Master of Puppets. Many of my peers (just post gen.X) thought that Metallica "sold out" with the Black Album. While I love the Black Album and it was what got me interested in the band once I owned the entire set of albums I can not even think of an album thats as good as M.o.P. S&M was cool, still listen to it at times, Ride the Lightning was great too. Back in high school I thought "King Nothing" was one of the best songs of that current era. (mid 1990s) but Saint Anger left me cold. I think Saint Anger is their WORST album by far.
  20. I'd much rather have a '69 elCamino with a Pontiac front clip & 455 under the hood.
  21. Yup, this was my fourth $50 day and it was the 2nd most successful of the four. Back in fall of 2005 I did stellar, I think total I carried out twice the average person did that day, maybe not in terms of shear weight but volume definitely. I got about two dozen GM owner's manuals (eBay) an aftermarket Parthenon style grille for a FWD ''80s deVille, rear taillight assembly for a last gen. Riviera, about 40lbs. of stainless steel goodies & interior bits for the Banana Boat, some misc. hardware I've been after for the Banana & Roadmaster, Driver's door panel & glovebox for the Roadmaster, a hundred or so emblems (mostly GM) and a whole bunch of crap I'm sure I forgot. Next time with a little more advanced planning & a LOT LESS rain we'll really put the teamwork to good use. XP & SP both bailed due to having to work. It was fun, I love me a good bargain & junkyards are always an adventure.
  22. Pop Quiz: How many times did that first guy type JDM in his ad: a.)13 b.)17 c.)18 d.)26
  23. Wow... Thanks for sharing Camino. That is some awesome personal family history right there! more here ------> http://www.tennesseelawman.com/3-cars
  24. Holy dagmars Batman, I think my rear 1/4 is sporting a woodie! Here's a four door hardtop for Knightfan!
  25. No, I meant 1987.... instead of investing billions into trash like the W-body. The mid-80s were spent pouring good money after bad into a dozen FWD platforms, just to water down product and give American cars a bad name.
