  1. look at the brakes on that thing we might be looking at the ATS-V Edit: on second inspection it has big caliper, but not big rotors wierd...
  2. Dwight are there steps in the difficulty of designing transmissions like say: is a seven more difficult to design/expensive than a six? compared to say the difference between 7-8 I don't really see the need in more than six gears unless you have an 80 pound foot three cylinder engine
  3. When are cars going to have the same number of gears as do semi trucks? or bicycles?
  4. with 600 pound feet of torque there is no reason a car should have to shift nine times. -Lexus eight speed starts in second and double shifts when possible afaik six is he most a car needs unless it is incredibly under powered and needs oo gears to keep in the power band ie a CVT
  5. i think some of them will go into a stolen vehicle mode type thing, and only go a low after so many miles empty
  6. if there was no reason to use FWD there would be no such thing
  7. Good for you, but haha i read it as "two liter turbo"
  8. :scratchchin: color me surprised
  9. i always thought it looked to much like a 300 estate with a dodge grill back when it was still in production, but now i realize there are quite a few small differences, overall i liked the car, but how bad did it sell that it was discontinued?
  10. Should have badged it as a RX35 no one would have been the wiser
  11. Had Co-op at a ford dealership for the past while, saw plenty of focus' fiestas an SRX a old gen CTS a Raptor, and plenty other new fords
  12. now just imagine if the companies worked on compatible battiries and you just stopped and switched out batteries, kinda like propane here, you bring in an empty one, they take it fill it and they give you a different full one.
  13. Hahaha EDIT: the Canadian LaCrosse was the Allure for a couple years i thought it was a pun on that at first.
  14. ATS and Camaro could share, but that means the Camaro isn't the muscle car it is today. The Camaro then becomes more like the 3-series in size and driving dynamics (which is not a bad thing), and more like a Hyundai Genesis Coupe or Nissan 370Z kind of small sports car. But also note how much the Mustang and Camaro outsell the Genesis Coupe and 370Z. And do customers want a Camaro the size of a Cruze with 4 and 6 cylinder power only. But I think when you want to put a bigger car like the CTS on that platform, then a soft riding Buick, somewhere along the line you are trying to put square pegs in round holes. The alpha should be able to handle v-8's, i think a smaller Camaro would be nice, but if the CTS is on this platform i think the Camaro will be somewhere in between. not exactly the size of the ATS, and just because it's based on the ATS doesn't mean it will drive exactly like one, since characteristics can be tuned in through the suspension
  15. what if they started with the ATS chassis and designed everything out from it, what kind of compromises come from platform sharing?
  16. and wasn't there supposed to be a convertible besides the ATS olds?
  17. old gen handle on the dash, door panel arm rests steering wheel spokes (Lots of cutlines) New gen: arm rest, door panel (none on the dash its self)(alot smoother)
  18. I know ride and handling are different, but both increase with RWD. Put any suspension you want on any front driver, it ain't gonna ride like an S-class or a Rolls-Royce Phantom. Plus most front drivers carry 60% of their weight (or more) over the front axle. Lambda is perfectly suitable for Chevy or Buick, but not Cadillac. Cadillac should have RWD. And I would be in favor of a crossover Escalade because they could get weight down which puts V6 engines (gas and diesel) in play and gets gas mileage up. Now by he way i am not encouraging a Lambda cadillac, i find it similar to the XTS. But i find the XTS and SRX in needed markets, to me they are just waiting for platforms(i know this is not the best explination), i do not think Cadillac needs a 205 inch suv other than the escalade. -Cadillac needs to compete head to head with the European makes, especially in sedans such as the C and A TS, i also think they should make a crossover type vehicle off the alpha to compete with the X3, and try to make the SRX lighter unless there is a platform they could use Last we heard is the CTS on alpha? or is it to big
  19. on the other hand maybe they aren't doing an exact copy but just seeing what they are up against and trying to step it up a notch. and if the new three is going the way of BMW lately it will be heavier and less sporty
  20. I don't understand why front wheel drive is automatically crappy and half hearted, do you really think that a giant three row crossover is going towards the performance crowd? no in a luxury car the interior is more important than the drive wheels platform sharing does not make a platform inferior engine sharing does not make an engine inferior
  21. Lamda is doing well for what it is, but the reason GM keeps trying to make more variants off of it is that it was originally intended to also underpin at least two if not three sedans as well. There was the stillborn Chi platform that was going to be the basis of the Cadillac DT7, NG Buick Lucerne, and Chevrolet Caprice/Impala. GM is trying to make the platform more viable by adding a Cadillac Lambda (as well as fill a hole in the Caddy lineup). Chi was the sedan version of Lambda. wouldn't a lambda sedan be extremely heavy?
  22. i'd just put IRS on it for the next Gen, and make the SRX smaller and put something in between it, or make the SRX larger and make a _RX below it. the Escalade is big, it's brash, its own vehicle it wouldn't be an Escalade other wise. it doesn't need to be smaller, but more fuel efficiency is always a plus, maybe larger two mode electric motors for more assist? making the Escalade into some crossover would not be good for the Escalade, making a crossover to fit underneath the Escalade would be a good idea
