Genesis G90 WINGBACK Concept Previews Magma Performance Wagon at LA Auto Show

Genesis reveals the G90 WINGBACK Concept at the LA Auto Show — a Magma performance wagon with 22-inch wheels, dual spoilers, and deep metallic green paint.

In ten short years, Genesis has accomplished much in what has taken legacy brands decades, introducing diverse forms of the Genesis Magma performance line gives us the striking presence of the G90 WINGBACK Concept.G90 WINGBACK side profile

The G90 WINGBACK Concept is built on an unmodified G90 platform with its 126-inch wheelbase and 201-inch length, the Wingback Concept draws out new potential within a familiar platform. Signature Genesis design cues like the Crest Grille, Parabolic Line and the distinctive Two-Line headlamps are intensified, giving the concept an aggressive stance while maintaining an aristocratic demeanor.

According to Chief Creative Officer Luc Donckerwolke who drove the WINGBACK out for the reveal, he stated the following:

“At the moment there is, let’s say, a multiplication of SUVs. And this fast growth will create a saturation; this is when other typologies of cars are going to become attractive again. This is why I strongly believe in not having a typology monoculture.”

Donckerwolke went on to say the following about the G90 WINGBACK, the G90 WINGBACK features the Magma insignia on the front bumper, which is the start of a dynamic, wider body style with large lower air intakes and fender flares that house custom 22-inch wheels running low profile tires.

This continues as the WINGBACK carries the parabolic line front to back along the longer wheelbase, the G90 trunk replaced with a roofline that has been stretched to achieve a sleek grand tourer wagon silhouette. The rear tailgate hatch has dual spoilers which help with downward force on the rear wheels enhancing the performance-inspired functional look.

The G90 WINGBACK Concept is finished in a deep metallic green color, showing that Magma has gone outside of the Magma Orange color.

Donckerwolke stated: “Magma is much more than a color; it’s about showing what is possible when Korean innovation meets global ambition. It represents a distinct Korean vision of care, respect and balance. Magma does not shout; it invites, where most chase aggression and extremes, we seek balance. Magma is designed to be rewarding, not challenging; to complement the driver, not to intimidate them.”

G90 WINGBACK Driver Steering wheelThe WINGBACK interior highlights the luxury with Magma DNA. A striking, green-colored Magma stitching and details throughout from seats to door trim all have complimenting touches reminding one of a luxury high performance auto. Power waiting to be unleashed as they stated much like Magma bubbling beneath the earths surface.

The duality of power and control wrapped in an elegant package is what the G90 WINGBACK shows in a concept auto. This concept embodies a decade's worth of innovation, acceleration for Genesis into the next chapter of their journey.

No further information has been given in regard to what type of engine is under the hood, some have speculated a tuned version of the existing twin turbo V6 engine. Others have stated that there appears to be enough room under the hood for a naturally aspirated or turbocharged V8.

The WINGBACK will travel the globe helping Genesis get customer input about the style and direction of the Magma lineup.

Nice, but the Genesis has more Style and a serious performance look that trumps both the Cadillac and the Audi wagons imho.

I like the fact that the G90 Wingback has a loooooong ass wheelbase.

And this is why it has that loooooong ass wheelbase:

Which is fantastic.  But Im not ready to be chauffeured just yet. Maybe when I hit my 60s.  But...looooooong ass wheelbase cars do ride much smoother though. And I like that too.  But my heart belongs to the German...for now.

Call me old fashioned, but as much as I like two-tone exteriors, I don't like all those colors and stripes.  Looks like a basketball shoe.

Yeah...it has funky designs on it.

I like the designs on it because I like muscle cars. Classic or modern muscle cars have got all kinds of boy racer features on them.  Racing stripes.  Decals in forms of hockey sticks or stripes going alongside the sides of the car.  Fender flares. Wings and/or spoilers and 'aerodynamic' extended body panels...

An Audi A6 is kinda like a muscle car.   This particular one plays the part with the  V8 engine under the hood of its mid-sized body.  And...its a homologation trimmed car. With the aforementioned spoilers and wings and its homologation racing stripes and colours schemes on its lower body panel 'aerodynamic' bits.

Its childish and immature and I LOVE it!!!

Its kinda spiritual torch bearer to these:

Obviously the Audi is a wagon... but you get the idea.

It's too garish visually, IMO.  The RS6 in a solid blue looks much better to me..

The wing is just dumb.  The hood scoops are functional. Ram air.

Yes. The normal RS6 is a better choice. I sometimes prefer the more 'look at me' versions when it comes to muscle cars.

The Volvo you posted is another great looker!!!  If there was an optional visual enhancing package/trim on it, Id probably prefer that.

They may be functional, but they still look silly. The ones on the one @G. David Felt posted look better.

    Sure.

if I remember correctly with the story of those  scoops is that when the Hurst/Oldsmobile collaboration was made and the decision to utilise the 455 for the Hurst editions (the regular 1969 442 had a 400 c.u.), Hurst wanted to change it up and use Ram Air ducts from on top and was a quick job to those scoops.  The 1969 442 ram air set up  draws air from the bottom.

    Pick of the Day: 1969 Oldsmobile 4-4-2 W30 | ClassicCars.com Journal

When 1970 came around, Oldsmobile wanted to use that 455 outright and not weasel it through Hurst collabs and also had the time to finesse elegant hood scoops.

3 Oldsmobiles from the brand's youthful, exuberant heyday - Hagerty Media

The 1969 hood scoops are fibreglass if I remember correctly but the entirety of the 1970 hood is fibreglass.

But yeah...goofy looking.  I dont mind them either way.

And becomes a bigger part of the muscle car appeal for me.

Good grief. Being that the CTS wagon was last made in 2014, this Genesis had better trump it lol. "Style" is a relative term anyway.

That aside, I want it. I still want the CTS-V Wagon as well.

    • New York - At the 2026 New York International Auto Show, Kia introduced the 2027 EV3, an entry-level electric SUV that brings the design language and technology of the EV9 into a smaller, more attainable package. The EV3 arrives in five trims — Light, Wind, Land, GT-Line, and GT — with a targeted on-sale date of late 2026. Pricing will be announced closer to launch. Two Batteries, Real Range The EV3 is built on Kia's 400V E-GMP platform with a choice of two battery options. The entry Light trim uses a 58.3 kWh pack with front-wheel drive and up to a Kia-estimated 220 miles of range. The remaining four trims step up to an 81.4 kWh battery with up to a Kia-estimated 320 miles of range in FWD configuration. All-wheel drive is optional on Wind and Land and standard on GT-Line and GT. Output is 261 horsepower on AWD models and 288 horsepower on the GT, which adds a sport-tuned suspension and steering along with neon green brake calipers, seatbelts, and interior accents. The 58.3 kWh battery charges from 10 to 80 percent in approximately 29 minutes on a DC fast charger; the 81.4 kWh battery takes approximately 31 minutes. A native NACS port is standard, and Plug and Charge capability allows charging to begin by simply plugging in after a one-time setup in the Kia Access app. EV9 Design Language The EV3's exterior borrows directly from the EV9, including the star map DRL, hidden rear door handles, and flush-mounted roof rails. Standard wheels are 17-inch alloys; GT-Line and GT step up to 19-inch wheels, with the GT receiving unique 19-inch wheels to match its green caliper accents. A U.S.-exclusive Nightfall appearance package is available on certain trims, adding gloss black wheels, black emblems, bridge-type roof rails, and a dark gray interior. Interior, Cargo, and V2L Inside, the EV3 mirrors the EV9's cockpit with a nearly 30-inch panoramic display: dual 12.3-inch screens plus a 5-inch climate display. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard on all trims, and the ccNC system supports over-the-air updates. Available entertainment includes Netflix and YouTube streaming, along with display themes for Disney, Marvel, the NBA, and FIFA World Cup 2026. Cargo capacity is 26.1 cubic feet behind the second row, expanding to 56.5 cubic feet with the seats folded. The EV3 also includes a 0.9 cubic foot frunk. Rear seat backs recline up to 39 degrees. Available Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) allows the battery to power external devices; available Vehicle-to-Home (V2H) via a Wallbox bidirectional charger can return power to the home during outages. Kia's i-Pedal 3.0 one-pedal driving system is standard and now also functions in reverse. Safety All EV3 models include eight standard airbags including rear side airbags, Forward Collision Avoidance Assist with Junction Turning, Lane Keeping Assist, Lane Departure Warning, and Smart Cruise Control with Stop & Go. Available systems include Highway Driving Assist 2 and Remote Smart Parking Assist. • New York - The second-generation 2027 Kia Seltos made its North American debut at the 2026 New York International Auto Show, arriving longer, wider, and with something no competitor in the compact crossover segment can match: three distinct powertrain options. Three Powertrains The base engine carries over as the 2.0-liter naturally aspirated four-cylinder, paired with Kia's Intelligent Variable Transmission (IVT). Available in LX, S, EX, and X-Line trims, it comes with front-wheel drive or available all-wheel drive. Step up to the X-Line and the 1.6-liter turbocharged four-cylinder develops 190 horsepower, routed through an 8-speed automatic with standard all-wheel drive. Rounding out the lineup is a new hybrid powertrain, pairing a 1.6-liter four-cylinder with a 6-speed dual-clutch transmission. The Seltos HEV also introduces e-AWD, a first for Kia on a hybrid SUV, delivering on-demand rear-axle power without a traditional driveshaft. Kia is reserving HEV performance figures and pricing for a later date. The 2.0-liter and 1.6T are targeted to arrive at dealerships in the second quarter of 2026. The HEV follows in late 2026. Bigger and More Capable The new Seltos grows in every dimension compared to the outgoing model, with the wheelbase increasing by 2.4 inches. That extra footprint translates into more interior space, including an inch of additional rear legroom, along with gains in headroom, shoulder room, and hip room. Cargo capacity behind the second row is an estimated 27.8 cubic feet, expanding to 64.1 cubic feet with the rear seats folded. Ground clearance rises from 7.3 to an available 8.1 inches. X-Line models add a new Multi-terrain AWD mode for light off-road use. Styling borrows cues from Kia's flagship Telluride, including amber DRL framing the front fascia, bold angles, and available auto-flush door handles. New exterior colors include Terrain Brown, Frost Blue, and Snow White Pearl with a contrasting black roof. Standard wheels are 16-inch alloys; the X-Line 2.0L steps up to 18-inch alloys, and the X-Line 1.6T and X-Line HEV with e-AWD receive 19-inch black wheels. Technology Inside, the ccNC infotainment system features a standard 12.3-inch touchscreen. An optional configuration pairs it with a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a 5-inch climate control display, totaling nearly 30 inches of combined screens, matching what Kia offers in larger vehicles. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard on all trims, and the system supports over-the-air updates. Available entertainment features include streaming for Disney+, Netflix, and YouTube, along with customizable display themes for all 30 NBA teams and select Disney brands. The HEV trim uses a stalk-mounted gear selector borrowed from the Telluride and EV9, freeing up the center console for open storage. Advanced Safety Standard on all 2027 Seltos models is Forward Collision Avoidance Assist with Junction Turning, Smart Cruise Control with Stop & Go, Lane Keeping Assist, Lane Departure Warning, and front and rear Parking Distance Warning. Available features include a 360-degree Surround View Monitor and a Blind-Spot View Monitor that displays a live video feed of the corresponding blind spot when the turn signal is activated. • Again, loving owning the Camry Hybrid, I plan on full EV next car.  The world's opinion will not go back, nor should it.  You do motorcycles, I do Bicycles. Riding around, even in deep red areas I am seeing a TON of EV's here in Ohio.  Its like Diesel vs Steam for railroads. At a certain point, even if you are Norfolk and Western and have tons of near free coal, or Pennsylvania with advanced steam locomotives, Diesel just makes infinite sense. Likewise, EV's. ICE is dead man walking.
    • I am loving Hybrid, I can't wait to do full EV when I replace the truck.
