VW @ Chicago 2008: 2009 VW Routan

Recommended Posts

I like the looks of it, but whats up with no VW drivetrains, and no VW specific interior? This needs to be ironed out toot sweet. And what the hell is Routan? Like Susan Ruttan?

Or like Burt Rutan or Dick Rutan :) I think it doesn't mean anything, made up to sound like their other models--Tiguan, Sharan, Touran.

The dash shell's textured plastic yields slightly to the touch (considerably softer than that of the Chryslers), overlaid with a dark gray soft pad.

Mmmm....squishy plastics. One thing I wish more makers would do is not just use soft plastics on the dash top, but on the door panels, center console and lower dash...I hate the rock-hard cheap plastics in those areas in so many vehicles today..

It looks quite handsome in dark colors and the interior is worlds better. I like the soft padded armrests with stitching on them...very upscale.

VW: Building a better Caravan, ya.

Dear Chrysler: take a lesson or 3 from VW in building nice interiors. Apply. Repeat.

those pics look nice. the interior is more desirable. the back end looks nicer. ah, but does it have flash to pass???????

this thing will remain on the radar for me. at 25k though in a VW, i can bet that is way stripped.

the quest was semi fun to drive. if this thing handles better and has more go juice, and is reasonably priced, it may end up in my garage.
