G80 Limited Slip Rear Differential

Recommended Posts

I'm curious as to what benefit(s) the G80 Limited Slip Rear Differential would provide me on my Saturn SKY. The SKY will be a 3rd vehicle in my household and will only be used on nice sunny days (no rain unless I get caught in an unexpected storm and definitely NO snow). Should I include it when I option my image when at the dealership, or should I save myself some $$$? (anyone know the cost, presumably on the Solstice?)

EDIT: $195 (Solstice), per GMBuyPower.com (is it worth the $195)??? Edited by GMTruckGuy74

Bullshit, avro.  I got Eaton Locker in the Colorado.  Only thing that's gay is, with the new tires, it won't spin a wheel on dry pavement anymore. <_<

your (obviously politely) trying to tell me that the Solstice has an Eaton Locker??
Every car I have with posi left two blackstripes.

Plus if you want to light 'em up off the line you'll leve two black streaks and not a single one which looks gay :P

My grand am left 2 black strips, that car took off hard for a 4 cyl, I beat an early 2000s 3 series up to 50mph, but he was quickly passed me after that.
Did any 97 grand ams SEs come with LSD from the factory?

no they didn't.

I am not an expert by any means but I have heard that a non LSD will sometimes spin both tires in a straight line. But thats still not the same as LSD. Probably not when cornering though.

FWIW, G85 is the GM code for the FWD LSD in the Cobalt SS supercharged. Not sure if they offer it in the Ion RL or not.
