  1. 1. Cheers or Jeers?

    • Cheers! He took an otherwise uninteresting old car and turned it into something worth looking at.

    • Jeers! He had an interesting summer driver and ruined it with a tacky paint job and air ride suspension. The money he wasted on the paint and suspension should have put to better use on fixing the floors or those nasty seats.

Cheers or Jeers: 1960 Buick Invicta

This car has a very straight and solid body. Two tone satin matte black and shinny green accented with hand painted pin striping and some airbrushing in scallops really sets this cool classic a part. Shaved door handles give it even sleeker lines. (We have the original door handles).

The air bags lay it down for that cool, low and long look.

Buick Invicta's larger 401 in Nailhead V8 engine, yielding what was referred to as "the banker's hot rod." The name was derived from Latin and signified 'unconquerable, invincible, unbeatable' according to Buick Motor Division sales training materials.

This car is powered by strong original 401 c.i.d Nailhead and Twin Turbine Dynaflow two speed automatic transmission, car runs and drives great!

Please browse through all the 100+ pictures (we have include large high resolution pictures so it may take little time to down load them all, thank you for your patience) and make sure to watch the video of the test drive as well.

Condition:

Car is very straight and solid as you can see from the pictures and video. The body has very little rust, frame is solid, floor boards do have a few old repair patches and the trunk floor has a few tiny holes. Doors, trunk lid, and hood are original and in very good condition. Upholstery will need to be redone as shown in pictures, it has some tears. We also have the original front and rear bench seats (not pictured), those also need to be reupholstered. Dash is in good shape. Glass is good all around and windows go up and down with the exception of the drivers door window that needs to be manually lifted up and down (we do have a replacement mechanism thats included in sale). Driver doors has a electric popper that works most of time but I find it easier to open the door through the window and have not tried to fix the issue (original door handles are included in case you want to switch back to stock look).

The 401 Nailhead runs nice and has great power, together with dual exhaust and Holley carburetor, it's low maintenance and very reliable. The automatic transmission operates smoothly and was rebuilt two years ago. Lights, turn signals, wipers all work. Car has drum brakes and they work good. Speedometer and speed alarm also work.

Car has Air Ride Technologies system and bags, compressor etc work great and gives very comfortable smooth ride and are easy to operate.

The previous owner used this car as his everyday driver and often took it on 300 plus mile trips with no hesitation.

Odometer is working and shows 65,900 miles.
