Shoot, I always thought the Phantom was earlier than '77, like '71 or '72. I will guess '72 Pontiac Phantom.

Hmmm, in that this was a 'pusher' concept, I assume TED you are referring to stylistically when you say 'very advanced'.

To me, it's rather retro there. Even the colored wheel wells evoke the circa '66 GTO & 442 fender liners, or the '53-54 Skylark before that.

I first heard of it through my Pontiac group reading, so it will always be a Pontiac to me... especially with its obviously Pontiac styling. It was a few years ago, via the net that I heard it called the Buick or GM Phantom... and at that time I realized, its not really badged as anything but a Phantom. Every photo online I can find online appears to have a red arrowhead, but its too blurry to be sure it not something else. If anyone has a link to a clear image of the badging, I'd like to see it.

That's why I posted it. I've seen it called A GM, a Pontiac, a 1973, a 1977, etc.

Yeah, the GM Heritage website says it is from 1977. It's got an arrowhead on the front end, and it was based on a GP chassis.

One source I have does label it a '73, but as it's well-known that this was Mitchell's 'parting shot', so that's obviously incorrect.

Yes, I did mean stylistically. Although it is retro in its grand sweeping style, details like the headlights and tailights, flush glass, and clean surfaces are very modern.

I confused it with another concept actually...this is indeed a 1977 Pontiac Phantom.

I had no idea what it was actually named, but one glance & I thought it should be a Riviera. Beautiful.
