Just saw the 'Broken Fence' ad whilst watching the NASCAR race...a man, a broken fence, saving a sheep (calf?) in the rain...it looks and sounds like a Viagra ad.

The one Viagra ad where the guy hitches his horse to his stuck truck always strikes me; the ad states 'this is the age of knowing how to get things done', yet the opposite is true in these scenarios. The vast majority of people simple dial AAA when stuck- they don't do anything by themselves.

The last bastion of 'knowing how to get things done' is probably truck guys, tho, or at least a higher concentration there than any other demo. Yea Moltar; that was a calf, not a sheep.

The Silverado ad is not bad, just a bit on the 'smooshy' side.

True enough...years ago before I had AAA, I changed flat tires myself more than once.

Noticed this morning my Silverado has a flat. Even worse, I am certain I ran over something on my own property, so that makes it my fault. So's I get to R&R my tire, AND plug the puncture.

I can change my own tire. I have AAA so I don't have to.

I prefer to do it on my schedule, for free. Not having AAA for as long as I've owned my truck will pay for the exhaust/tuner.

Now, if I could give my 20"ers to AAA and have them demount them, that would be worthy of consideration. The last one I did took me probably 1.5 hrs. They don't work on my tire machine.

I like AAA for the stuck on the side of the freeway w/ a shredded tire in nasty weather scenario....when that happened, AAA was there quickly and got the spare on quickly. As far as replacing the shredded tire, that's what tire shops do... (or patching a flat). Or for getting tows..which is an unfortunate occasional occurrence when driving a 13 yr old vehicle w/ over 100k miles (towed 3 times in the last 4 years)...AAA is great for that.

I can change a tire, I can't tow my own vehicle. That makes AAA nice to have.

Washington State made it illegal for one to change a tire on the side of the road with out safety lights and markers. You are supposed to call Washington State Patrol if you do not have a service like AAA or Costco's Ameriprise Auto insurance that covers things like a tire change, tow etc.

Sadly, I have seen many WSP show up and stick their nose out so you are safe, but sit in their car watching while you change your tire.

Personally, I have no problem changing a tire and calling to get my own tow. I made both of my kids change tires when learning to drive and my 30 year old daughter is proud that she could if needed change her tire, but so far has not had to deal with that. Dad, makes sure proper inflation and when I wash the auto's I check for things like nails/screws.

Everyone should know how to change a tire. I guess the ad is just saying if you want to be a man you better be a macho man. I was taught how to change a tire by my father. I taught neices and nephews how to change a tire as well. The Silverado ad is still a little too much though. Sometimes you just can't tow your own car. That ius why aaa is a great alternative.
