North Cascade Highway (HWY 20) Washington State

This is considered one of the top 10 drives in the US. It closes when snow starts coming down late fall due to avalanches and reopens at various times in the spring depending on the winter snow fall. An amazing loop from Seattle north on I5 to Burlington, then east on Hwy 20 to Lake Diablo, then continue east to the Town of Winthrop Washington going over the Liberty Bell Pass. From Winthrop you drive through the little town of Twisp, Carlton down to HWY 97 South to Starr. Continue south till you hit the sign that says Lake Chelan HWY 150. This takes you to the town and the lake. Lots of Wineries. You can then take the Alternative 97 on the south side of the lake to Winesap and then south to Entiat down to Wenatchee. From here you take HWY 2 to Sunnyslope, Cashmere and into Leavenworth and then back up over the mountain pass and back to Seattle.

Happy Fourth of July, friends! I'm back in the U.S. for a while. Greetings from New England, where I'm visiting a friend. Still some unanswered questions regarding geography, but, with each vehicle that I was considering ceasing production one by one, this looks like the most likely contender if I were to remain stateside. It's what I currently have keys to and checks most of my boxes.

Agree, I have very mixed feeling about the Xs for daytime running lights as it implies to me it is dead. I am very happy with the small kidney's that are back compared to the huge nostril kidney's they had which was just as cartoonish IMHO. Size wise, I am surprised it is only a 5 passenger, but they could have surprises since it still has more details to be released.

That brings up another good point. This may seem obvious, but the calculus for an EV works better the worse the mileage of the equivalent gas vehicle is. I remember a while ago people trying to compare the Hummer EVs to a Corolla and saying it didn't make financial sense for the Hummer. But the real comparison is probably something more like an Escalade. A Hummer EV may not be a great savings compared to a Corolla, but it blows away an Escalade.

I honestly thought about writing an opinion piece on the stupid house measure passed about autos that are perceived to be connected to China. So, with it we have the death of Polestar, but Volvo gets a pass and yet both are Chinese owned and connected to China. For me in comparison to the SS I replaced with the EV9. Insurance was a wash on my policy, no real difference. The difference was clearly in Home Charging versus the Premium fuel and low MPG that the SS got. The monthly fuel cost for the SS covers the EV9 payment and charging and I still have no maintenance in comparison to the SS. Big win for me in a state that has some of the cheapest electrical rates and highest gas prices. Washington state does have a flat $250 fee added to your yearly license to make up for the lost gas tax which here is 56.5 cents per gallon plus the federal gas tax so a total of 74.9 cents per gallon tax. Filled up the Escalade today, $146 for the fill-up.
