  1. It is indeed a 5MT 2.5 Golf. Little thing is damn fun in its own right, too!

  2. Went and saw the movie 'Bullitt' at my local theatre, it is having a 50th anniversary theatrical re-release. I've seen the movie at least a dozen times and own a DVD of it, but was fun to see on the big screen. Before the movie, instead of the usual movie trailers, was a Ford promotional video for the new '19 Mustang Bullitt.

  3. Walking Dead was fantastic last night. Maybe I'm sentimental but I really liked Judith's drawing in the background of her and Carl Second... Man I wish Cadillac would realize its wealth of heritage and truly go after the Germans... covering all bases necessary. Friend of mine has a Mercedes AMG GTR. Its almost as quick as my Manual Z06, but not as fast as the Automatics.. but shit.. who cares? Its a segment that if I wanted to buy a Cadillac in.. I couldn't.. and it SUCKS that GM won't make it a priority while they will have a FE Corvette and a ME Corvette being sold. The additional investment to make a Cadillac Corvette would be nominal.. and even tho there would be probably be only about 30% of the sales the Vette gets monthly.. IF DONE RIGHT.. it would be more of a image vehicle for Cadillac than this is for Benz. And when I say DONE RIGHT I simply mean styling and interior. Initially I wouldn't even venture to tell them to switch to the BlackWing engine.. just stick with the LT4 and LT5 for V-Sport and VSeries notions. YES!!! The 400HP+ LGW 3.0LTT V6 would be my base.

  5. Well... things have gotten simpler. There are only 4 diesels left in GM's portfolio for new vehicles (for the US market anyway). These can be loosely split into the Turin Two* and the Detriot Two. The Turin Two (GM Medium Diesel and GM Large Diesel) GMMD 1.6L Inline-4 DOHC 16-valve (LH7) 137hp @ 3,500 rpm / 240 lb-ft @ 2,000 rpm GMLD 2.0L Inline-4 DOHC 16-valve (LUZ) 170 hp @ 3,750 / 295 lb-ft @ 1,750 rpmDuramax The Detriot Two (Duramax) Duramax 3.0L Inline-6 DOHC 24-valve (LM2) Performance 260 hp @ 3,500 rpm / 445 lb-ft @ 2,000 rpm (est.) Duramax 6.6L V-8 Pushrod 32-valve (L5P) 445 hp @ 2,800 rpm / 910 lb-ft @ 1,600 rpm * After the sale of Opel to the Peugeot-Citroen Group, GM retained its Diesel R&D facility in Turin, Italy. This produced two 4-cylidner diesel made in Hungary and (at least for now) supplied to Opel among others. Apparently, 2.0L is "Large" by European Global Warming Coolaid standards.

  8. The reality is finally catching up with the Japanese makers.. They just are not as bullet-proof as mofos would have had people believe for the last 20 years. As more HP and efficiency is needed.. more innovations and streamlining is required. They can't get away with 100hp engines that have been running on the same basic engineering for decades to see them thru anymore. It would be like GM still offering a Gen I "Small Block" Chevy engines in everything.. but only essentially changing the cast from iron to aluminum and carburetors to fuel injection

  9. My 16 GTI lease is up in just a few months. I had always planned to buy something cheap to kick around in once it went back. Something dailyable, but still kinda fun. This just came along so I jumped on it. The thing is actually quite enjoyable. You don't realize how much you miss having a manual until you get another manual. I'm loving it!

  10. I parenthetically referred to this car in car spotting, but this would be "random." Monte Carlo refresh with the best alloy wheel design This is a HUGE improvement in terms of an upgrade compared to the downsized 1978. The chassis on this was the same. The sheet metal was different. Love those wheels. You didn't see them often.
