  1. Of course; Rivian isn’t remotely a mid-priced brand. Has any brand reported much success with these subscription programs? Sounds like it certainly would have some takers, but I haven’t heard any results.

  2. All three are Lhasa Apso. Very stubborn, but loyal dogs. ? They also have more human like hair, which doesn't make me sneeze like crazy like around most other dogs.. I'll have to find a picture of them...

  3. Imagine the power grid is a series of really big buckets with pipes (power transmission lines) between them. Electricity gets dumped into the bucket and consumers and businesses sip out of the bucket. The electricity that gets dumped into the buckets comes from all sorts of source; wind, solar, coal, nat gas, nuclear, etc. Electricity can also be transferred from bucked to bucket. Is the electricity Honda is actually using coming from nat gas, coal, wind, or solar? Hard to tell which electrons are actually being used, but Honda is buying the same amount of energy from renewable sources to dump into those buckets, so that counts for them as buying sustainable energy. Due to where they are buying, then yes, the people who benefit most from GHG reduction are the people closest to these renewable plants.

  4. Diesel sales are still a significant portion of overall sales over there these days. As long as the new diesels are actually cleaner as they say they are, then I see no problem with still offering them. In the US, I think the VW diesel days are over.

  5. Rivian showed off along with their R1T silver truck a new Blue R1t with a darker interior. One of the reservation holders in Seattle video taped the event and the truck and posted to You Tube. I have to say I really like what I see, just need to get damn access to test fitting myself in the auto before I plunk down a deposit. Have to say I really have more respect from a business stand point for RJ over Musk. More info was also posted here in the story at Electek web site. https://electrek.co/2019/09/30/rivian-blue-r1t-electric-pickup-truck-prototype/

  6. Yeah, but I'm still unsure of if they mean Subscription as in a really fancy lease that you can opt out of at any time.... or car sharing like Car2Go. They're two different beasts.

  7. I don't hate Ford...(not sure where you got that) Not sure how my name is Tim either... ? And while my revolation is a bit on the dark side I admit (Hey, I don't like it either) I want to know where they are going to go? I chose Ford only as an example- the only thing holding their head above water right now is the F-150. The Explorer is nearly a failed launch- and I'm not so sure about the Escape. And as much as I don't like the girly looking Escape- I don't want it to fail. This is putting some serious pressure on the Bronco to be a major success... Come on, don't hate the player, hate the game..... ?

  8. Yes, Toyota and Hyundai/KIA do copy others in terms of CARS and markets. They did not copy the bad ideas, such as slavish worship of the bottom line and really antagonistic unions (SK aside). Arguably, Toyota may have the best of both worlds these days from a financial standpoint. If originality made the kind of cash flow that is heavily desired, Toyota would be in serious trouble. Then again, Toyota has big market share and a lot of loyal customers since 1978 who will NEVER buy a GM or Ford vehicle again. Toyota now is what Chevrolet was in 1970: the default choice of (nowadays) FWD appliances. Especially in this era of leasing dominating the marketplace and 72 month financing, Toyota is in an enviable position and it will probably stay that way for a long time to come. As for China, China could still buy out a lot of weak automakers when the next recession hits and still clean house since that government has huge ambitions and nearly unlimited resources to do just that.
