  2. Yeah, when I drove my sister's Trax from West Palm Beach, Fl to Cleveland, Oh this past January it was fine on a long freeway drive...I would floor it coming down freeway on-ramps and always got to 75-80....cruised fine all day at 65-70..

  4. That being said, The Escape still has the most efficient Hybrid, and a 3500 pound tow rating if you get the 2.0 Turbo. It has some tricks up its sleeves. Good movie, some nice vintage car action, good cinematography, good plot line, well acted, nicely edited and directed. I am a sucker for a green car though... Might I suggest any car you drive is hauling ass by definition.... (Stang ducks wrench thrown from new Jersey....just kidding bro!) The Koreans keep doing better and better. They build tons of stuff I really like, and exactly zero cars I really want to own.

  7. Sadly our whole society is going this way....SC Boeing plant building the 787 Dreamliner has much more issue producing quality p0lanes than their Seattle counterpart, and yet the Seattle plant is the one being closed. I loved how they had the 1962 car leaving a 1962 NYC in a 2018 movie....CGI FTW!

  8. Saw "Green Book" twice and I could see it again. Epic! Given that he picked up the car in front of Carnegie Hall, I KNEW there would be some great cinematography of the car crossing the George Washington Bridge to head westward and out of NYC ... and there was!

  9. I have huge respect for Korea. If I could/had to live in another country, South Korea would rank very, very high as a place to actually live. Besides, I love how pretty Asian women are, and that counts for something. Stinger rocks. Seriously rocks.

  10. The Stinger is RWD/AWD, IIRC it shares a platform with the Genesis G70. Stinger is like a Korean Charger, it is a cool outlier.

  12. You know Irony when I have that same 1.5 hiding in my Equinox. ? Maybe I was a bit mean calling it useless, as it is not bad in the Equinox or the now departed Cruze. But- those are both compacts with the Mali being bigger I feel it shows at times... I’d say 90% my Nox can haul ass too....though sometimes it does have it moments. Part of my distaste of it in the Malibu is that quite often I have driven the Mali right after driving the Equinox.....as you can feel the difference then. It is funny you say that about the Malibu....I kinda feel the same way about the Trax. For only 136 ponies-this little 1.4 can get up to 75 pretty quick when it wants to... I think that is the only think it really do not like about the Equinox is that stop start. Even after owning it for a year and a half, sometimes I have a mini panic when it stops running....Otherwise it has been a great little CUV ? That sucks! I had the same thing happen to my Cobalt at the start of the year! Thankfully they were able to save the tire...

  14. I remember that the Kia Stinger was well received and, now, some reviews of it aren't as favorable as the initial impressions. It looks like it's built on a variation of the Optima platform, but I'm not sure of that. On a different tangent, a random thought that sometimes goes through my mind is that I'd like to take a tour of how the post office system works. They probably don't do that anymore, and certainly not now. When I was in the cub scouts, we got to tour airliners and we got to tour military ships. I would like to see how a first class letter is routed from beginning to end and how, nowadays, they'd deal with bad handwriting for addresses and such. It's part of always wondering how things work.

  16. Now that is a war where I do not want a decisive winner. GO everybody! If the batteries are great, then charging time should be dramatically reduced and efficiencies raised. It may be the next decade where BEVs can truly replace ICE at all new car levels. This race for the best EV batteries is so good, that by 2035, even ocnblu might actually want one as a latecomer.

  19. I've always wondered how the post office system reads really bad handwriting. They must have had a forensic scientist on payroll back before the PC days. Now days it's most likely a really spendy scanner we all pay for. I used to win penmanship awards in grade school, no joke, but now sometimes I wonder if that letter is going to make it to the intended party, just have to make sure the return address is clear enough ? BTW, I've never had one returned for poor handwriting, maybe it's not as bad as I think. ???

  21. Yep. And to that, I have no answer...maybe it is the car. ( to be fair- a few of the Malibus were rentals) Sadly, I have not had the seat time I used to in new vehicles.... ? Glad there were no issues with the tire.........

  22. Damn the luck. Years ago I picked up a freakin' 1/2"x 1 1/2" carriage bolt in the right front as well, not fun. I never get nails or screws either, so guess I had to make up for it ha, but I was only about a mile from home.

  24. While the K5 name is not Optimal, it is a good looking car inside and out. GM, Ford and Chrysler have given up on too many segments, while the Koreans just keep plugging away, winning customers. This is a neat little car, comes with a lot of stuff (including nav) for about $25k, plus that famous long-ass warranty.

  28. EV News of the Day. Tesla has increased the range of the Tesla X. Seems Tesla has done a mid year refresh and started to call the Tesla X 2021 models with a 371 mile range over the 2020 model of 351 miles. Seems Panasonic is delivering their updated denser battery cells that the Tesla S & X use. https://electrek.co/2020/10/13/tesla-model-x-range-increase-2021/ https://teslamotorsclub.com/tmc/threads/2021-model-x-monroney-sticker-range-increase.209560/ Next News is the all New Mercedes-Benz EV SUV. The EQC 4x4 off road EV. According to the press release, the EQC 4x4 rides higher than a standard EQC or the G Wagon. While no info on what the HP or Torque is, MB does state that they will compete with Rivian in a solid off road recreational SUV. https://electrek.co/2020/10/13/mercedes-benz-rugged-eqc-4x4-electric-off-road-suv/ https://www.cnet.com/roadshow/news/mercedes-eqc-4x4-squared-off-road-concept/ https://www.thedrive.com/news/37040/mercedes-benz-eqc-4x4-this-is-what-happens-when-you-give-an-ev-portal-axles Seems some sites talk more with MB than others as the following site states this EV SUV has 402 HP and 561 lb-ft of torque. https://www.autoblog.com/2020/10/13/mercedes-benz-eqc-off-road-portal-axles/ Seems the EQC which is what the 4x4 EV above is based on is set to be released December 13th 2020 as a 2021 model. They do not say if actual EQC EVs will be on the dealer lots or not. So this makes me wonder if an actual purchase will happen or if a reservation will happen starting on Dec 13th 2020. Great details on the EQC EV SUV at the link below. https://www.thecarhp.com/news/2021-mercedes-benz-eqc-preview-expected-prices-release-date-mpg-and-performance#:~:text=Expected Price and Release Date of 2021 Mercedes-Benz,extended up to %2476%2C620 for the advanced trim.

  29. I remember in my neighborhood in Phoenix an older Hyundai XG (predecessor to the Genesis sedan) w/ the license plate KRNBCK (Korean Buick?). Had a 'Korean War Purple Heart' license plate frame. And to throw in another angle, Hyundai has the N-sub brand for performance...--2-3 models in Europe so far, 1-2 in the US... The new Santa Fe looks quite nice inside.

  31. The Ram 700 has been around since 2014 as a restyled, FWD-based unibody Fiat product. This is a new version of it. The Mitsubishi Mighty Max was a RWD-based, body-on-frame pickup built from 1983-1995. Totally unrelated to each other. Of course I love the single cab version of the new Ram 700. I would buy one if it had the 1.3t 4 from the Renegade, and an uplevel trim package of some sort. Are you sayin' you're POPPIN' FRESH?

Walmart has over $2 million dollars in deposits to Tesla for their Semi Truck orders that are now over $20 million on the books. Quote from Walmart of Canada: “Walmart Canada is now reserving a total of 130 Tesla Semi trucks, making it one of the largest reservations of electrified trucks in the country. The move comes on the heels of Walmart Canada announcing a major $3.5 billion investment over the next five years aimed to generate significant growth in the business and is aligned with Walmarts global goal to target zero emissions by 2040 announced at Climate Week earlier this month.” https://electrek.co/2020/09/29/tesla-tsla-secures-order-tesla-semi-electric-trucks-walmart/#more-148949

  39. Where Yoda are you pulling this figure since Tesla does not break out the Model 3 to Model y sales, both quarters they are combined. Q1 sales = 76,200 of the Model 3/Y and 12,200 of the Model S/X = Total Sales of 88,400 Q2 sales = 75,496 of the Model 3/Y and 6,326 of the Model S/X = Total Sales of 82,272 I am sure if we look at state by state registration we can get this number, but forgot where I would find it. California does publish their own breakout of sales by every model sold in the state. https://www.cncda.org/wp-content/uploads/Cal-Covering-2Q-20.pdf Would love to have an account here that would show the US individual models sold by state. https://www.autocount.com/# Even here where you have to pay at Staitsta they have a higher number for the Model Y which is not in full production yet due to the pandemic per Tesla. https://buyshares.co.nz/2020/08/20/tesla-accounts-for-over-80-of-electric-vehicles-sold-in-the-us-in-h1-2020/

  42. Tesla Model Y appears to be plagued with poor sales, despite the company slapping 3 grand on the hoods a few months after their debut. GLOBAL sales thru June stand at 13,415, barely surpassing the Model X (12,461). Meanwhile, the Model 3 stands at 142,346. Chevy Bolt, globally, is at 11,496 thru June.
