This looks good....were I to replace my Aveo in a few years...have to pay down the Ranger First... https://www.cargurus.com/Cars/l-Used-Jeep-Grand-Cherokee-Dublin-d490_L26539?sourceContext=google&cgfv=0.86&cgp=30888&cgfr=3&cgfab=A&ax8324=503&px8324=p2&type=GoogleAdWordsContent&kw=&matchtype=&ad=461234897963&placement=www.democraticunderground.com&networktype=r&device=c&devicemodel=&adposition=none&cp=309910256&adg=21246778976&fi=&tid=aud-125939373656&lc=9014968&lm=&tgt=boomuserlist%3A%3A100762976&cgfdate=20201028&aceid=&cgfloc=en&&type=GoogleAdWordsContent&kw=&matchtype=&ad=461234897963&placement=www.democraticunderground.com&networktype=d&device=c&devicemodel=&adposition=none&physloc=9014968&intloc=&aceid=&cid=309910256&agid=21246778976&tgtid=aud-125939373656&fid=&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIv72Htr_c7AIVgezACh33tgYeEAEYASABEgLhK_D_BwE#listing=2796742083 points

Minding down a major street on October 25, minding my own business, and I see this: You bet I was going to pull over to this exotic car dealer that I normally wouldn't pull over to. I was wondering if this is a custom paint. And what the person's motivation for ordering or choosing this car might be. I went to the Bentley website. It's a legitimate color: Jetstream II. This is one pompous car. You can build one on the website, but it won't give you a price. All of the verbiage, such as "colour," is in English for the posh folks. The experience mentally sent me running to the Dodge dealer down the street.3 points

What I really came onto the forum to say tonight ... About a year and a half ago, I bought a sofa and another upholstered piece for the living room. Given my control oriented nature, I ordered it. I hate that the trendy thing is to have pillows that have some wild pattern when the body color of a sofa or a chair is solid. So I ordered everything solid. This salesman, who was younger but NOT pushy, helped me with selecting the upholstery while I had the model/frame already selected. The fact that he didn't push me when I first went into the store to look around is what got him the sale. The items arrived early, were set up, and they looked better than I could have imagined. I sent him a brief e-mail thanking him and telling him how good they looked and attached a photo of each of the two pieces. No response. Tonight, I went in there since I am tentatively looking for another piece for another room. He was there. I hope he didn't see me. I talked to the salesperson who greeted me. (I learned covid has pushed delivery times for factory orders back in a big way.) My attitude is that if the previous salesman couldn't respond with "thank you" or "glad to have helped" like a person with the minimal people skills for sales, I shouldn't be that concerned whether or not he got my business in the future.3 points

Reading a review of the ‘21 Sierra 3.0L DuraMax, and it stated how crazy it was to start off with a full tank and have it read “600 miles” as a range. If it’s set up at all like the 6.6L DuraMax, GM has GALLONS of overage built in; my 6.6 has a 34 gal tank but aI’ve never filled it with more than 19+ gals. Actual 3.0L range might be 850 miles.2 points

Been a while since I saw one! That said- I saw a line of Mustang E Machs today testing....didn’t realize my Equinox was bigger than one.... ?2 points

That's such a Scottsdale car..saw many Bentley convertibles there, usually in the tired white w/ black wheels. The current gen of Bentley Continental GT has a rear quarter shape that reminds me of the old Karmann-Ghia...given that Bentley is a VAG brand, it may not just be coincidence...one of those weird details that once you see you can't unsee....the modern Bentleys do have great interiors...I think the 2dr ht looks good in dark greens.2 points

I remember that color as GM had it as a color option on their Luv pickup trucks from the 70's. Baby powder blue is what I remember it to be. On that auto, for sure a Look At Me Pompous color. Pass on that ugly Jelly Bean!1 point

Yes, the FX is what the rear on this reminds me of. Piss poor interior cargo space, could not even get a bag of golf clubs in them. Also interior space for humans sucked too. I know lots of people liked the style, but for me, the style cost in interior room. That is why I love the Hummer EV, it has the box design with style and what looks like plenty of interior space especially for us big people.1 point

There were Pontiac and Buick versions as well at this stage. Early foray into "badge engineering".1 point

My little gray LX served me well for 6 years in NE Ohio until I moved to Ann Arbor, MI in '94 where it got totaled 2 weeks after I moved there for grad school. This is the only digital pic I seem to have of it, parked w/ my '87 GT on the farm around June 1990. Interesting article about the Iron Duke Camaro... https://jalopnik.com/chevrolets-first-four-cylinder-camaro-was-really-bad-18251282291 point

The truck is probably just an appliance to them...most drivers don't know what is under the hood---just a power unit for their appliance.1 point

I believe you are correct. I know someone in the Sunbelt who bought a simplistic RWD big Chevy or GMC truck 2 or 3 years ago (new, for a great price) and he told me he had a six under the hood. This is a person who builds and repairs things, yet he couldn't tell me which engine was under the hood. I asked him if I could raise the hood and look around. It was a 4.3 or 4300 V6. How would he not know that? The change is that, since it was introduced, it is now an all aluminum (heads and block) engine. Also, TBI gave way to Bosch injectors, I'm sure. I guess that, with steel sleeves lining the cylinder walls, this technology became reliable. As for dogs, I was in Europe and there was this guy holding a puppy at the entrance to his bar - which really means espresso joint. I asked him, in HIS language, what kind of dog it was. His response was pronounced as "Chuck Russ." I asked him for the third time, and he then included the suffix "terrier." I then said, "Oh, Jack Russell terrier." Affirmative. This puppy licked my hand.1 point

People do suck, more and more each day. Disgusted with the political negativity in the country. I can pick on my own side of the fence....the number of liberal friends of mine who would celebrate if Amy Comey Barret chocked on a piece of chicken in a resteraunt and died is amazing. I want a dog, a pickup truck, and the open road. I need to re read Travells with Charlie. https://www.amazon.com/Travels-Charley-Search-America-Steinbeck/dp/0140053204 This also looks like a good read. https://www.amazon.com/Outbreak-Crisis-Religion-Ruined-Pandemic/dp/B08L2HSVS8/ref=pd_lutyp_wsixn_v2_6_4/143-4699616-0598161?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=B08L2HSVS8&pd_rd_r=8f410600-f449-4eb3-86e6-60a60af5d0c9&pd_rd_w=bDIoO&pd_rd_wg=0rFeF&pf_rd_p=5046f028-98e3-42b1-9847-47bc0a965eea&pf_rd_r=DGMN2NC7M83VRTTMK7KV&psc=1&refRID=DGMN2NC7M83VRTTMK7KV1 point

Nice review. I never thought I would see half ton pickups at almsot 80 grand... My grandmother grew up in and was born in a log cabin in Wisconsin in 1917....amazing how things change in a short period of time.1 point

? Not sure what you read, but the linked story clearly states that this truck meets Class 8 with Torque and is capable of hauling up to 220,000 pounds so it can handle the normal 65ft trailers at 80k lbs plus the special hauling loads up to 220,000 pounds as I stated above. On top of this, 300 miles of pure EV run plus the Hydrogen generator that allows plenty of miles past that. Yes if stopped for the night, recharge the battery pack overnight, but otherwise fast fill Hydrogen and keep on trucking.1 point

Seems I’ve lived in NJ my whole life, highest population density in the US, relatively low percentage of EVs vs other states. Air quality is very good - excellent, and I am ‘protected’.1 point

Seems Nikola and especially Tesla might have some serious competition. Triton Solar has decided to get into the EV Truck business for commercial Class 8 trucks, Triton EV. In 35 days they built a working prototype that can haul 220,000 lbs with a driving range of 300 miles. They choose to go pure EV with an option for a Hydrogen generator due to the scientific facts that a Class 8 Semi that Hyundai and Mercedes Benz are working on for the market have one big draw back. Hydrogen is only have as dense at power than Diesel and to replace Diesel, you need equal to it or better. Answer is EV Class 8 Trucks where you can have equal and in many cases better torque / hauling capacity. While todays batteries can allow up to 300 miles of range and yes Tesla has stated they will also have a 500 mile pack, recharging is a limitation due to how long it takes. The answer to that is using Hydrogen as a perfect generator of electrical recharge use while being very clean and good for the environment. This also allows for long haul use then with the only challenge being the need to build more Hydrogen fueling stations. Triton was able to build this Class 8 semi in such a short time as rather than building from scratch which Nikoa and Tesla have done, they choose to source out the parts and material needed from existing Class 8 suppliers and built the truck. Currently Triton EV is looking to partner with existing Truck builders to get this into production sooner than other announced Class 8 EV trucks. https://www.cnet.com/roadshow/news/triton-ev-electric-semi-truck/1 point

Chevrolet is expanding with upcoming Cruise and Connect packages that will allow those that want to convert their ICE auto to an EV. As proof of this, they have built a test mule from a 1977 Chevrolet K5 Blazer EV. This Cruise and Connect package will be rated at 200 HP / 266 lb-ft of torque. Battery pack is the same as in the Bolt EV, 60-kWh, 400 Volt battery pack. GM has confirmed a few things, first is that the electric motor will come with a new 4L75E auto transmission. The cool part is that this Cruise and Crate system is going to be based on what the BOLT EV gets from convenience to safety and that will include air conditioning since that is incorporated into the battery pack so the battery and AC will run off the same compressor. You also will have all the controllers that handle the motor, charging, cooling and impact protection. GM confirmed that the team of engineers working on this managed to do the conversion in 30 days. This included changing from the 3.08:1 to a new 4.10:1 rear axel Full details at the link below. https://www.autoblog.com/2020/10/29/chevy-connect-cruise-ecrate-k5-blazer-details/#slide-2274106 https://www.autoblog.com/2020/10/29/chevy-k5-blazer-e-electric-crate-motor-package/#slide-2273971 2020 is a year of change, Europe has reported that for the first time EV's have overtaken diesel in auto registrations making regular petro the leading fuel, EV's second and Diesel a 3rd for auto registrations across Europe. In 2012, diesel made 50% of all new auto registrations. Today, you have petrol at 47%, EV's at 25% and Diesel at 24.8% where as the remaining is a mix of PHEV / Hybrid. 2019 saw a 139% increase in EV registrations, 327,800 new EVs for the year. https://www.autoblog.com/2020/10/29/electric-cars-surpass-diesel-europe/-1 points
