  1. I was told by nurse (and seems some internet sources say the same) that preferably to take Tylenol because Advil/ibuprofen (anti-inflammatory) prevents the vaccine doing it is job. At least in case of Pfizer/Moderna.

  2. And, from driving up and down I-45 (the Gulf Freeway) between Houston and Galveston in February, I can tell you it's still there. Except that it's a Buick-GMC dealership. The owners must have some "cojones" to not change the name. Who that has been on this C&G forum for a while isn't (somewhat) weird? This place is "Quirk Central."

  3. Hanging at home- got 2nd Moderna dose yesterday @ 3PM. Right now (8:30AM), really nothing to report as to after-effects, maybe a 10% bump over my normal achy-ness. ? Would like to go out to the shop and work on more Grand Prix parts... maybe after a nap.

  4. The wife and I just returned from our 1st Pfizer vaccination. Our 2nd shot is September 3rd. Nothing to report just yet. (side effects). But then again, it has only been 45 minutes.

  5. My whole family, both sisters family and both sides of grand parents are all fully vaccinated with either Pfizer or Moderna. My son's girlfriend and her family is all vaccinated. Honestly, the science is very sound and 40 years of research with Vaccine and cancer treatment use since the early 90's. This is the type of reporting you will find all over if you want a generalized news souce. What is mRNA? How Pfizer and Moderna tapped new tech to make coronavirus vaccines (nbcnews.com) If you are into science and want to understand deeper what mRNA is all about, then this is an excellent science souce. What is mRNA? What you should know about the key ingredient in some COVID-19 vaccines (phys.org) Plenty of additional sources and of course a ton off the CDC, but thought I would post this for you to consider. Hope you choose like most people and get vaccinated soon.

  7. I understand, I have always voted on the skills of the person, not a party but sadly, yes plenty of folks did vote for this overkill of oversight. Amazing how many people are not willing to learn how to properly learn a skill set.

  8. Not trying to be all political but, that's what your people(west coast) have voted for, more government oversight.

  9. In February durring the wicked freeze, we had a water line bust on us.. It was in the ceiling going to our kitchen. We got pretty lucky with the placement as to not make TOOOOO much of a mess but it still sucked. Why is a 50 gallon hot water tank $3500?!? That seems absurd!

  10. Also, right in that same area, along the Gulf Freeway, and in other parts of Houston, there are several dealerships with the name De Montrond. You'd think you were in Quebec and NOT in the Lone Star State.

  14. Yes, I have coworkers who live in North Carolina and have said they have never seen it like this. One said the shortage and long lines is what his father said the mid 70's were like which I do remember the long waits in line for a set amount of fuel. Crazy, so glad I do not have to deal with it here as I just filled up both the SS and Escalade for $100. In other news, crazy to see a major bridge beam totally split in two. Look at the Terrifying Cracked Beam That Shut Down the Vital I-40 Bridge Indefinitely (msn.com) For me and Not trying to be political, but we really need the $2 trillion dollar infrastructure spending to rebuild the US Roads / bridges more than we need $36 million dollar fighter jets that are a failure or more ships, etc. We need to re-invest in our country.

  18. Yeah, it is getting bad out there. Since I am furloughed from my main job (not looking good there, been in interviews the lat few weeks) I am working at my 2nd job-which happens to be in retail. I’ve nearly been attacked twice in the last few weeks for trying to help co workers with customers- anti maskers-or simply jerks (or political). I understand that people are unhappy with much going on in the world- but it shouldn’t make people full of anger and hate. I still treat everyone with respect and love- there is already too much crazy in the world to add to it.....

  20. A little late with this one, too. Spotted on South Padre Island toward the end of February. Someone's last-gen LaCrosse with Midwest plates (a "Winter Texan!"), the Sapphire condo tower (the tallest here, yes, but the density is low compared to Miami Beach), and a beautiful day. Looking south along SPI Beach. I believe the Sapphire is the last structure way down at the end. As long as you're here when it's not crowded, and the weather is still good, South Padre Island is wonderfully relaxing.

  21. I want to summarize points I wanted to make. Correct me if anything I say is wrong: 1. mRNA based vaccines were never used on a wide scale before. Yes, there was a long research before but until now it didn't achieve any commercially available vaccines and medications. 2. FDA gave Pfizer, Moderna and J&J vaccines Emergency TEMPORARY approval (EUA) because of the pandemic in order to bypass regular medication certification process. That process is not just bureaucracy, but was written with human lives when there were failures or misdirections from pharmaceutical companies. 3. Pfizer and other companies will have to submit for a permanent FDA Biological License Approval when they have enough data to get fully certified that vaccines are safe short and long term. It might take few months, it might take few years. They still collect data. Basically the whole world is one big experiment at the moment. 4. At the moment all the vaccines are very effective with very small percentage of people having severe reactions to the vaccine. There are still a lot of questions to be answered. So I perfectly understand some people who are cautious at the moment. Personally, to me the question is a consideration between getting sick and possible long term affects of the vaccine. I choose vaccine because like many others I want to continue my life. However, if I have a choice, I prefer J&J vaccine.

  22. Are you serious? Talk about taking out of context. I thought this thread was called Vaccine discussion, but i guess it is only "discussion" if you agree with everyone, otherwise people are getting attacked.

  23. I know it wasn't directed at me. I was just commenting on your post just like you comment on other posts including mine. Hmmm, I just reread my post and nowhere I see comparing flu to COVID. My point was that different people react differently to the same illness. Btw Drew compared Covid to common cold just few posts above.

  24. mRNA maybe was researched for decades now but it wasn't widely used in any medication until now. So no, you can't guarantee that. If that would be the case these vaccines would get full FDA approval. True, but statistically with large amount of data the risk is substantially smaller and usually known after years of use.

  25. My wife is a healthcare worker and she and a LOT of other doctors and health workers I know are not in a huge rush to get mRNA based vaccine. The vaccine absolutely works for now but NOONE yet knows LONG TERM implications of the mRNA based vaccines. That is the reason FDA gave TEMPORARY Emergency approval. They don't have full approval of the FDA because it is simply not yet fully tested. Personally, I probably will be eligible soon for the vaccine and I plan to get it simply because I want to start traveling and not worrying that I will get sick badly. But if I have a chance I will get J&J vaccine, not Pfizer or Moderna.

  26. Trying to get my act, and photos, together after being away during this time. Along the Gulf Coast February 20 Interesting variation of the Cooper line-up. February 22 Classic. And people fault me for stereotyping? Check out the "Oregonism" sticker. They'd be better off with a garden variety orgasm instead. Rarely does one see Karmann Ghias. Wow. Mild weather probably helped keep this one in great shape. It brought a smile to my face.

  27. Someone turned on to the Cowboy Bebop soundtrack this past week. Been listening and quite enjoying it. Might actually get me to watch the show finally. --------------------------------------------------------------- No iTunes, the audiobook I'm ripping is not classified as 'easy listening'. I love the opening theme. I generally am not a big jazz fan, it often tends to be too free-form and chaotic, but that opener is just pure fun to listen to.

  30. ? Today has been a nightmare. February 19th 2019 during a freezing snowing night here, my wife went downstairs to do laundry and yelled that water was coming up out of the floor drain. Discovered that the server line on our house being 67 years old had failed. We repaired it to what I thought was the city line. Connection of where our 4" line connects to the bigger 6" city line and into the main sewer line. Expensive repair. Today, mid morning, went to leave for a Dr. appointment and discovered the laundry room was flooded with sewage. Used my shop vac and clean up the worst of it, cleaned myself up again and left for my appointment. Called the plumbing company that did the work to come out and figure out why I was backed up. At 69 years of age, discovered that the connection point from 4" to 6" has failed. Worse yet is the city says that connection being on my property is my responsibility as they only go up to the property line. So now awaiting quotes for repairing it. Been told to gently use the toilets till they fix it. Totally unexpected large expenses kill getting ahead in life.
