Thank you all. Sometimes I wonder if I'm in shock. Sometimes I'm angry. Often I'm depressed. I keep wanting to tell him things, so I tell him. At least we live in a world where cars have bluetooth so when I'm talking while driving, they don't have to know it's not on the phone. He was an incredible man. And he deserved a much longer, happier life.3 points

All this talk about haggling reminds me why I think it is going to be better to just buy my lease........ I happen to mention this someplace else, but if anyone wants to send some positive vibes or even prayers our way I would be grateful. My wife is dealing with a medical issue that is going to require some tests in the next few weeks . Have to be prepared for any news. I am happy that she is at one of the best hospitals in MI that can take care of her issues. So if I happen to disappear here and there, with her is where I will be. Adding to the fun is trying to interview through all this as well. But I am doing my very best to be positive...3 points

Was behind an older Ford Fusion Sport with a curious personalized plate---'CRASH29'...I wonder if it's a reference to the 1929 stock market crash, or the driver had their 29th crash in this vehicle?1 point

Or anybody interested in the latest racing technology or quickest/fastest OEM cars around a race track. One doesn't have to like F1 to appreciate somebody putting their driveline into a consumer vehicle.1 point

Yeah, LED light retro-fits have been around for years and years. I looked at them the better part of 10 years ago for my ‘04, but they all looked too ‘Transformer’ish. On vintage cars they either are WAY too bright or just look out of place... but some are well done. There’s kits that replace round glass bulbs with plastic lenses you can install an LED headlight bulb in - they look very close to original. But you put tinted ‘angel eye’ headlights in a ‘70 Chevelle and it just looks like you don’t know what you’re doing.1 point

Yes I did cover this when the E-Gen Axle was announced (Oct 6th, 2020) and was going into production. Allison Transmission launches eGen Power™, Its New Zero Emission Electric Axles for Medium and Heavy-Duty Commercial Trucks At the time, they used only this picture so there was no real clear picture and as the new news release states, they have now signed on a dedicated builder using their E-Gen Axles.1 point

Interesting point. Since the sedans followed the styling cues of these bigger wagons, Olds might have put together an attractive full-size RWD sedan (with that grille and then some). Or, as Olds used to say, "We've had one built for you," which I thought was one of their better ad slogans. Right. As long as one could get the year, engine, and color/interior trim they wanted ... more or less. Ok, now this is a little scary ...the creased rear flanks, the wood grain, the wheel covers, the body color on the door frames, and a spooky grille that Olds later cleaned up for the better. Not to mention the thirsty 455 cubic inches probably lurking under that hood. In the next 2 years, the quad rectangular lamps helped some.1 point

Precisely. It's not a flea market or Turkish bazaar. I don't haggle over the price of a Mac Book Pro at the Apple store or the price of a washer and dryer at Home Depot. Why should buying a car be different? Cars are saddled with the ancient, obsolete dealer franchising shit.1 point

You are not forced to "haggle". Frankly, in the Age of the Internet, all the guesswork is taken right out. I just bought a new vehicle, I didn't do any 'haggling' on the front end (I did on the back end due to my situation's unique turn of events- to my benefit). My sales guy hardly seemed surprised I knew the specific GM holdback amount on my truck, to the dollar. If you can arrange for a licensed electrician to come to your house and install a 240V line to your garage for your BEV charger on wall X, you can buy a vehicle in person and civilly discuss (or NOT) a number on a piece of paper. It's not worth saving yourself a FEW GRAND and test-fitting a vehicle in person; talking numbers is that frickin' burdensome?? I don't understand how some adults navigate the world they're in, I really don't.1 point

We all have our different likes and dislikes, and our vast difference of opinion, however I know I can count on all of you to join me and as a community spanning nearly 20 years in offering our thoughts and condolences to our friend @Paolino who lost his fiancé suddenly and unexpectedly yesterday. We are all thinking about you Paulie.0 points
