I'm as degenerate as the next guy, but I never understood this sort of thing. The 'being clever' part and the 'getting it past the Man' part is cool, but the ultimate statement is 'p*ssy!', and much like those 'truck nuts', I just don't get what they're really trying to say. It's like standing around at a party, drinking some beers, then blurting out 'p*ssy!' and laughing uproariously... except the license plate is you saying it CONTINUOUSLY. Perhaps it's just a notch or 2 too adolescent for me. :shrug:6 points

I've never gone for a personalized plate because people remember them...better to keep a low profile with an anonymous number. Though I still have thought 'NO CUBE' would be a cool plate...4 points

Despite 4 years of Spanish between high school and college, I don’t know much Spanish-language slang. I did learn ‘pendejo’ and uses of ‘chingas’ from Cuban friends in high school, though.3 points

@Robert Hall I only once considered a personal license plate. This was in College when I also was part of the PBA (professional Bowlers Association) and bowled to help pay my way through college. Thought XXX on a license plate would be cool and then it dawned on me that no one would get it in reference to Bowling, just Porn. Agree, with @Robert Hall and @oldshurst442 I like a clean auto and that includes no bumper stickers or any other type of marking except the OEMs badge. I also as I have on all my auto's darkened windows as I do not like people seeing inside my auto.3 points

Im like you Balthy, Im a degenerate (or used to be) too. But like even in your example of someone at a party just blurting out p*ssy and laughing just seems...stupid. Sticking it to "the man" is what we all should strive for. "The man" could include many entities. Guvment. Big corporate bullies. Religion. Hell, even law and order sometimes because even law and order needs chaos to re-stabilize itself again to reset the boundaries. I think Bread 8 on a license plate and similar verbiage is a way to say FU to the Guvment for free speech and stuff like how George Carlin's 7 words comedy bit defined the stupidity of 'bad' language. But at the same time, we DO have to have some sort of decent decorum when in public. That also includes radio, TV and theatre (movies) and our media in general. I dont like personalized license plates either. For the same reasons Robert mentioned. Plus others. On a daily driver, appliance vehicle, I see no reason to personalize ANY part of the car. On a toy vehicle, yeah, Id like a vanity name. "Stranger" would be my personal license plate on my 1970 Olds or 1973 Trans Am. Its my last name in English.3 points

I'd like 'DEATH' for the '59- nothing low profile there, car-wise. No doubt it's not permissible.3 points

I'm sure I've mentioned it here before but my first car was a Beretta Z26. it looked just like this with different wheels but dark purple. I did love that car and if I ever fell into millions of dollars, I'd love to get one and convert it to RWD with some LS under the hood attached to a 6-spd, just to make it fun to drive.3 points

We seem to like license plates and license plate frames here. I was looking for the California symbols that you can put on plates and found this first. So here is the CA specialty plate with 4 symbols you can put in, shown at the bottom right hand. I've already mentioned "(HAND) NOW GFY" a while back and I guess C&Gers didn't find that funny. I still laugh about visiting a college friend in SoCal in 2008, having coffee, checking out the DMV site and entering different license plates, and seeing that "BREAD 8" came up as "not available." We almost spit out our coffee. But, if someone lived in CA and loved C&G, they could get "WE (HEART) CARS." If it's not already spoken for. Score!3 points

I knew a fair number of Cubans in grade school, high school, and college. They all had a great sense of humor. A "pendejo" is basically a jerk, but it literally means a "dingleberry." "Chinga," usually said in the reflexive form as "chingate," means GFY. I took 3 years of French in high school and a year of Spanish in college. It's almost easier to retain Spanish if living in the Sunbelt, even if you've taken less of it.2 points

@balthazar Thank you for sharing. I mean it. So I didn't have to. I assumed everyone was in on the joke. The friend I had a good laugh with about this plate option was Mexican-American and went to college with me. I believe they actually released that plate "into the wild," and, then, when the DMV got more sophisticated or was apprised, they pulled it back in. I don't know if that's urban legend - L.A. style. Either way, that plate, in which the words translated into Spanish approximate biology, is definitely "not available."2 points

Yet...he mentions cars that are ABOVE their base offerings. HE ignores the fact that the (new gen) 3 Series in Europe is one small step above entry level econobox compact car with a lowly 2.0 liter 4 cylinder engine producing 150 horsepower 0-60 in 9 seconds... There is a 330 3 Series with a 2.0 liter 4 cylinder that is the base model in North America that does 0-60 in 5 seconds...with a price tag of starting at 40 000 US dollars... But NONE of THOSE comes CLOSE to ANY Vette EVER produced... Sorry, a 1953 inline stove bolt 6 Corvette DID in fact produce 150 HP and had similar 0-60 times to that 2020 318 Bimmer... I decided to move the bar MYSELF for a change...2 points

Speaking of California plates and plate frames, I could get an 'Orange Coast Costa Mesa' dealer frame for my Jeep, as that is where it was originally sold. I've seen a few neat old ones from that dealer, chrome w/ raised letters and not the usual plastic.2 points

"Ferrari should build a circa $60K V-6-powered car... so they can sell more product."2 points

And you are conflating his argument and putting words in his mouth. And I have already shown you where the Vette runs neck and neck with one Exotic (The 296 GTB) while being DOWN 300HP. (identical 0-60 time, for example). And GM doesn't need build a $300K car when their $100K car already punches the big boys in the mouth with just their BASE MODEL VETTE (a fact you are clearly ignoring here). What happens when the Z06 or ZR1 (with a possible EV connection) comes out? What will you long list of excuses be then? BTW, that $300K Ferrari is really a $200K Ferrari but we will just skip that little fact too. I mean, it should be more pressing to you that GM can get as much performance out of a $100K car than companies like Ferrari can get out of $300K car. Like Olds said, what would you get from Ferrari for $100K? Go ahead and answer that one before moving that bar of yours again.2 points

Now we can understand why Tesla is opening up their Charging network to all BEVs and changing over to the industry standard plugs. MONEY, Yup, as part of the huge infrastructure bill, you have to support ALL BEV auto's to get funding and this will allow Tesla to open up more stations faster. Met mom and her DTS as she drove part way to our place for the weekend. Her first long trip with the 11 DTS she got last summer. I drove it. Firmer ride than the 2002 or 3 which was it, she finally sold recently. Took an opportunity to get some pics of hers and my TourX together. She says hers is fast because it has 8 cylinders. I keep telling her, "mine is faster" because it is, despite less than half the displacement...mine has tUrBo? the evening sunlight was hitting the cars just right.2 points

Auto enthusiast have since the dawn of the car had a desire to go faster and in this, the 2 door, 2 person auto was the focus of go fast compared to the 4 door, 4 or 5 person sedan and especially in comparison to CUVs, SUVs and Trucks. Yet in the last few decades we have seen performance Trucks and SUVs / CUVs that have gotten close to what some call Muscle Cars. Even some specialty sedans like the Chevrolet SS of recent decades has also introduced performance fun to the family. Tesla burst onto the scene in the early 2000's and had a Roadster that blew people away that could afford such a novelty with it's gut pounding acceleration. Later came the Tesla S with performance that rivaled many if not just about all of the industry made auto's while not yet beating the European Luxury brands such as Ferrari, Lamborghini or even the Chevrolet Corvette or the top of the line Mustang and Camaro. Continue to speed forward to this current decade and we now have the Tesla S Plaid sedan that truly makes one question how does an ICE Muscle car compete? Is the Answer in how Dodge has approached the electric auto? Dodge Announces Electric Muscle Car for 2024 – Robb Report While Dodge seems to imply that we will still have a 2 door muscle car, the rumor mill has been going crazy that both the Ford Mustang and Chevrolet Camaro will go to a 4 door performance sedan. The amount of Photoshopped versions have been crazy as we see Camaro's like this one done by X-TOMI Design. Then we also have the 4 door Mustang Design, not a warmed over version of the Mach-e but an actual photoshop of what a 4 door mustang would look like. On top of this change with Tesla currently leading the way with the fastest 4 door sedans is that even in the Top End Luxury market, we have companies like Lamborghini that has shown off a 4 door electric performance sedan. This has been followed up by Bugatti stating that they are exploring the change over to a 4 door performance electric sedan replacing their 2 door versions. In 2009 Bugatti showed off their Galibier 16C powered by the big W16 engine and now they are looking at this as the possible future for the brand as a BEV. We also have brands such as Audi who have decided to stick to the top end being luxury sedans with an electric A9 that will be built on the next generation platform that will also be used by Porsche. Originally planned to be released in 2020, it has been delayed a few years due to the Global pandemic. So we have the high end of luxury brands helping to pay for lower tier electric auto's and the global auto industry is now focused on converting over product lines by 2030, 3025 and 2040 depending on which brand you read about. It would be safe to say it is not if but when a product line will be changed over to electric and clearly Ford, Dodge and Chevrolet have been clear that they see their muscle cars will carry on to 2030 in various forms. Yet one cannot ignore the writing on the wall about electrification. As such, it brings the question for discussion here: Will the Traditional American Muscle Car stay 2 doors or go 4 doors? If we go by these stories, it would seem a sure bet that the Camaro electric replacement for the ICE version is 4 doors. There Will Be a New Camaro-But It's a 4-Door Sedan: No! (motorbiscuit.com) The Chevy Camaro Will Be Replaced by an All-Electric Sedan: Report – Robb Report The Chevrolet Camaro Will Be Replaced by 4-Door Electric Sedan - Maxim Chevy Camaro will reportedly be reborn as all-electric, four-door sedan | Tom's Guide (tomsguide.com) The Chevy Camaro Is Reportedly Being Replaced by a 4-Door Electric Sedan - BMW Autoelectrician (bmw-autoelectrician.com) Then we have the rumor mill at it about the Ford Mustang, will it move to 4 doors? Ford Mustang Mach-F Looks Like a Four-Door Electric Pony Car to Rival Tesla - autoevolution This brings us back to the reason for writing this editorial is to bring up the discussion among people: What is a future muscle car? Will the Traditional American Muscle Car stay 2 doors or go 4 doors? Will Chevrolet Camaro become a 4 door Muscle Car? Will Ford Mustang become a 4 door Muscle Car? Is the Dodge Challenger with 2 doors and electric still a muscle car? I encourage people to ask themselves these questions and sound off in the comment section on what they believe the future of Muscle cars will be and why. Bugatti might replace Chiron with a four-door with electric powertrain - Luxurylaunches Lamborghini electric four-door GT sedan in development for 2025, report says (autoweek.com) 2020 Audi A9 C E-Tron,The Four-Door Luxury Electric Car ! When Cadillac sowed us the mid-engine Cien in 2002, I was all in for a Cadillac supercar. At a time when it was hip and cool to do mid-engine supercars. Everybody had a concept or actually produce one. Cadillac did not, however, produce it. It was featured in a movie thought and it was a great way to fantasize what a 300 000 dollar mid-engined supercar from Cadillac could be. When Cadillac then made the Evoq sports car and actually did produce it calling it the XLR based on a advanced Corvette C5 platform that was a precursor to the C6 platform that Corvette didnt have just yet...I was again all on board for Cadillac's attempt to be yet another follower as THIS was the way everybody else was trying to market themselves. At the same time of the Cien, Cadillac also gave us a V16 cruiser concept that better fit Cadillac's image. They didnt produce that one either. By the time the Ciel concept came around, I was in between thought processes on what Cadillac should produce. The El Miraj came and went and Cadillac didnt produce ANY of these concepts but by this time, I had made up my mind that in MY opinion, Cadillac for me, is NOT a sports car, hypercar type of brand. Cadillac was always a boulevardier brand. A cruising brand rather than a speedy one. In terms of alcoholic drinks, a Martini shaken not stirred. A Cognac neat or on the rocks. A LITERAL boulevardier drink. In terms of alcoholic drinks, Cadillac having sports cars are akin to shots. Alabama slammers, tequila lime shots with lime. Sex on the Beach... THIS is NOT Cadillac... Youthful. Promiscuous. Sexy. Not Cadillac DESPITE wanting to be younger. Maybe Pontiac if we are talking about GM? Definitely Lamborghini! Having sports cars and hypercars at Cadillac is like this: and this Although THIS IS Cadillac Let the other brands debase themselves to that (You see...Lamborghini!!!) Cadillac is more akin to this Similar... but there is a fine line and difference between the debauchery. In the 1980s, cocaine and wild parties skewed the arrogance factor towards the adolescent... Cadillac is arrogant luxury. But not adolescent. Supercars are adolescent.... Yuppies are new money. Newer money than Cadillac. Rolls is the old, stick up your a$$ conservative money. Cadillac came along and still kept the sophisticated aspect of it, but SHOWED YOU in FULL display how filty rich you are. Rolls Royce too, but there was a hint of understatement there. The 1980s came along, yuppies and white collar crime con artists with their cocaine fueled state of mind drew us back to our teenaged ways. Cadillac shoudnt go this route is what Im trying to say... Its not them.1 point

The Impala SS fills(ed) my muscle car desires. I dont think Canada ever got the Olds Custom Cruiser on that final B Body. I got to learn that it even existed sometime in 2010 or so when I joined Motor Trend forums. My initial thought about that final B Body Olds Custom Cruiser was that it was a shame that Oldsmobile didnt get a sedan version too. It would have been #2 on my list if Olds had sedan. Therefore, I would have to say that that the Olds custom Cruiser would be #1. And surprisingly, the Buick Roadmaster wagon would be #2 and the Caprice wagon at #3.1 point

I agree with this statement. yet...its a tired old argument. 10.6 @ 135 or so MPH versus 11.2 @ 122 MPH or so. So yeah... On the 'base' 488, its got close to 200 HP and 60 ft/lbs of torque more than the Vette. Considering the price tag difference, the 488, as pointed out, is 200-300 pounds lighter than the Vette. That price difference equals to more expensive, lighter materials being used for the Ferrari. The Vette's engineering prowess is NOT how the power is put down and the numbers being accomplished as compared to Ferraris, Porsches, McLarens, Lambos.... The Vette's engineering prowess is how all that is being translated, by the level of high technology being used AT A PRICE POINT being MASS PRODUCED and BEING CONSISTANT from car to car, and doing that from year to year, decade to decade, generation after generation keeping up with cars that cost 2-3-4-5 times as much. We shouldnt be putting down Vettes in relation to Ferraris and Porsches. We shouldnt be putting down Ferraris and Porsches in relation to Vettes either. HOWEVER, I REALLY like to see what Ferrari could do, PERFORMANCE wise, within the SAME price point and BUDGET that Chevrolet and Corvette engineers have to deal with... I dont care what Ferrari sells their cars at, if people buy them at any MSRP, good on Ferrari, but I really do want to see what Ferrari engineering could do with a Corvette budget regarding engineering... We have already seen what Porsche has done in this 'Corvette' situation. 1. Porsche 914 2. Porsche 924, 944, 964 3. Porsche 928 ALL PERFORMANCE FAILURES as compared to the Corvette. (I am STRICTLY talking about PERFORMANCE and NOT sales) The ONLY one that has succeeded in keeping up with the Corvette is the Cayman/Boxster. It comes up short ONLY because the Cayman/Boxster could EASILY outperform the 911 but Porsche does NOT what to cripple the 911 that way so they INTENTIONALLY keep the Cayman/Boxster at bay. Which means that the Cayman/Boxster could really mess up the Corvette. But then again, how much more engineering costs would go up when higher performance upgrades happen to the Cayman/Boxster to put the bloody nose to the Corvette? THAT is what makes modern Corvettes so awesome. Its NOT the performance numbers by themselves. Its coupled with the fact that those numbers are accomplished to a PRICE POINT both in an engineering budget and a relatively low MSRP...1 point

Agree, we are friends, no sarcasm intended, but we agree to disagree and I do understand your point, but as @surreal1272 pointed out, you buy a high end sound system and Best Buy does not put their logo on that equipment. I expect the same from the Dealership. This is Greasy cheap marketing 101 that I would expect from a less than reputable used auto dealership. If a New Auto Dealership does the job right, they will gain more in advertising by my word of mouth talking about how great the dealership is than a cheesy sticker on the auto or license plate frame. IMHO WOW, WOW, WOW, $3.50 cents for all that is just crazy cheap, but then it is November 22nd 1965, 2 years before I was born. So then bread was 49 cents a loaf on average and gas was 30 cents a gallon. Crazy is according the Government statistics for average hourly wage in 1965 it was $1.85 per hour, so one has to wonder about this price for this service. Agree, hard to wrap ones head around this bill. @surreal1272 The 70's and 80's allot of Asian labeled TVs and Sounds systems were made in the US from unknown high end companies. Pretty crazy, but when you find stuff at a Goodwill or garage sale, and if it is cheap enough, then it is usually worth the time to buy it and try it out. Worst is maybe a few new capacitors soldered in.1 point

(Does his best Tim Allen "grunt") Same but yes, the prices are just obscene. On a side note, I did find a pair of old school Sony floor speakers at a thrift store (about seven months ago) for $16 (for the pair). They work flawlessly so I put them with my semi-old school setup in my workshop. Notice where they are made. Didn't know Sony ever even made anything here until I did a little research. It was back in the 70s when Sony was just getting into the US market and they used a company called SuperScope to build and distribute these speakers (SuperScope also made cassette decks and other gear for Marantz at that time). The speakers are noting fancy but they sound pretty damn good and you can't find these cheaper than $250 (with shipping) on Ebay. That's a "win" for me.1 point

^ You are conflating assembly point with company home country. - - - - - The infinitesimal differences in maximum rated towing or payload do not drive sales by themselves, as the major players are commonly within a few percentage points of each other. This has been patiently explained here numerous times; the 'top number' in a given criteria doesn't drive sales by itself. Ram TD has 1,075 TRQ whereas GMC/ Chevy has 910, but the Ram doesn't handily outsell its competition, thusly disproving your 'model'. Because that's exactly it- (and with trucks especially); they need to be competitive. And they are, and then truck consumers pick the BEST BALANCE of features and capabilities and personal preferences and PRICE and buy 'X'. The Tesla pickup tries to pass off uncompetitiveness in product with "re-invention", and it's just laughable. And what little actually tangible things it does offer (the front trunk, no fuel costs... I can't think of anything else) are going to be offered by a host of competitors by the time it ever gets out. Couple that with the LACK of certain features and it has an immense uphill battle for marketshare. When you ignore the vast data set of the 'Phoenix Rising' of pickups over the last 50 years and instead take a hard left turn and try to pitch it as 'This is what you really want', it just comes off as ill-prepared and unresponsive.1 point

You are making 2 different arguments. On one hand saying the Corvette can keep up with the exotics but on the other saying that even though the Corvette is down on power or speed from a Ferrari, but it is cheaper, so that is why. The Corvette makes a great performance per dollar argument, but it is not a better performer than the exotics and super cars. And on the flip side, what is stopping GM from making a $300,000 car? Whether it be sports car, sedan, SUV or whatever. If GM engineering is that good, they should be able to build a vehicle at that price point and sell it.-1 points

The C8 with Z51 is a half second faster around the Nurburgring than a BMW M4 competition, half second slower than an M5 CS. That’s not Ferrari territory and both those BMW’s have a back seat. And for $100k the Ferrari you’d get is a Maserati Ghibli or Alfa Romeo Guilia Quadrafiglio.-1 points

I am not a Tesla fan, I don’t need to defend them. Let’s see what the production version Plaid does on the Ring. If they can’t beat the Taycan maybe Tesla is a one trick straight line pony.-1 points

An M4 Comp is about $75k unless you option it up, similar to Corvette pricing. There is also only one Corvette engine now, I am still waiting in the Black Series and GT2 RS beater. Until they get something faster the C8 Z51 is all they got. Probably true that a Cadillac hyper car won’t do anything for them, but I just said a $250-300k vehicle, could be an SUV, sedan, convertible, etc. Tesla too should go up market with a more luxurious product, their interiors aren’t that great.-1 points
