Rabblerousing

Well, if they can, it'll be in Califorrrrrrnia.
3. I fully understood your intent, Drew, especially on the part of "GM got the Equinox right...why not Terrain?" I'd say you should continue what you're doing, and ignore the drama queens and ninnies whose worlds are so completely rocked when someone menttions that GM needs improvement in any area, no matter how subjectively minor that poster feels it is; obviously you noticed it, so other potential buyers have noticed it...and you didn't use that flaw as the sole basis for a thoroughly negative review or anything. "Life of its own"? "Downward spiral"? Really? Hyperbolic, much?

Don't you wish?

Here's what I don't get: don't these people know that they just need a computer, auto-tune, and a microphone? They can be make music, post it on you-tube, and maybe get something out of life that way. I mean Britney Spears can't sing worth $h!, neither can most pop-punk singers. You don't need talent to get a singing career, so why go on a talent show? The mind boggles...
5. I can't tell if you're agreeing or disagreeing with me, though your post seems to support my point on Toyota to an extent. That said, I definitely think that in 2010 GM should aspire to more than matching the build quality of a 2002 J-body.
6. Valentine One is the gold-standard, but Cobra seems to do a good job as well. I don't like to use my Escort often at all (hand-me-down from when my father got a Valentine One), but if I'm roadtripping across the flyover states, it's a necessity because I am NOT going 55 on flat freeways in the middle of nowhere.
7. Well, GM thought it was no big deal for the last 3 decades, and they got knocked in the press for it. Consumers notice stuff like that, especially when they spend so much money on a new car, and it leads to a perception of low quality. When the superficial details are wrong, people assume the mechanicals aren't well-built either. GM is NOT on top, which is why Toyota gets more of a free pass in the press. GM is the underdog with something to prove. It has to change public perception, and to change minds one has to be as close to perfect as possible. That's why the Lacrosse is so good--it has blown the ES350, the standard-bearer of its class, completely out of the water. So has the Malibu, and so has the Equinox. THAT'S why, albeit minor, this stuff actually does matter. You're on a GM fan website, so we pretty much can assume you like the company, and have for a while, so these things don't bother you. But when you have Toyota fanbois running around at auto shows taking photos and video of themselves pulling off pieces of interior trim because of poor fit-and-finish, it reflects badly on GM, even if the same can be done for said Toyotas. Do a forum search for auto show coverage posts by Polish_Kris if you don't know what I'm talking about.
8. The panel seams are of inconsistent widths, and as Drew mentioned, when the Terrain part is a different shape than the Equinox part, the fit is a bit awkward. Things just aren't as flush or precise as they need to be.
9. Um, panel gaps? Yeah those are pretty visually-apparent. Try again, reg.
10. Yeah, fit and finish looks bad from the interior pictures. This needs fixing, GM.
11. Pretty annoying, huh? That said, it certainly removes a security issue. Never understood why GM cars always came with a valet key, but never a valet fob, which would be so much more useful than key alone. Now, neither.
12. GM now has a light for Rainsense? Funny, the past few Cadillacs my family has owned had Rainsense with no dash light, and my Aurora has Rainsense with no dash light... The more tell-tale sign in a small black box affixed to the windshield behind the rearview mirror.
13. Rear visibility is pretty limited--that much I was able to discern from LAIAS. I'd appreciate your opinion, Oldsmoboi, in areas of rear visibility, trunk (design, size, usability, etc), driving dynamics, steering weight, cupholder design, and overall levels of fit and finish.
14. They've been around since Snitz software...every time AH-HA quit, how do you think he was able to delete all his posts?
15. Wow, CSpec...I know you're a huge SAAB fan, but you clearly haven't bought any SAABs or else you wouldn't make such an asinine thread. No manufacturing process is perfect, and as reliable as modern cars are, that warranty exists so everyone can reach a satisfactory conclusion when the unusual defective product is produced.
16. I can't get the page to load.

The dog did it!

That's what LEED building certification is for. Green building is finally starting to spread to the rest of the country, though California was in on it back in the 1960s with Richard Neutra's Hall of Records building in the downtown Civic Center. http://www.aiacc.org/site/docs/neutra.pdf

Cars are relatively clean; the biggest polluters are idling ships and freight trucks at the ports. Airplanes are pretty bad too.
19. Torrance also has a lot of Honda employees.
20. Ford and GM aren't disregarded in LA at all. The good cars sell well; Californians have a very embedded car culture and tend to be picky about what they buy because of what it says about them. What was the GTO's biggest market? I see plenty of Fusions, Mustangs, Escapes, Malibus, Lacrosses, Equinoxes, etc. driving around LA. They're there...but you'd be hard-pressed to find a G6.
21. Eh, it'll come right out. Doesn't seem too bad, dude. What's the estimate?
22. Because Japan has a fairly well-known societal emphasis on reputation and honor. Japanese companies are also very secretive. That said, I don't think Japanese v. American companies are more likely to engage in corruption, but that Japanese companies are more likely to engage in corruption in this manner.
23. That's fair; I don't believe in just half-assing things.
24. Actually, I'm really not authoritarian...like at all. I pretty much recall enforcing the rules on personal attacks pretty stringently (let's be honest, that's why we have a higher level of discussion vs. other sites) and suspending posting privileges swiftly for trolls (e.g. rubenoff, of "too much light, too many candela" fame).
25. Nah, I just have a low tolerance for nonsense.
