  1. I agree with the 8 speed. In my charger RT in tacking around 2300 at 73. I'd like to see that be closer to 1600 or so, would sure help fuel mileage. However, I have no complaints, I didn't buy the car looking for fuel economy. With 5.7 hemi and 5 speed auto, I averaged 25 mpg on a trip from NJ to Ohio with the cruise set at 73. Not too shabby for as heavy as the car is, plus the additional weight of my partner and all his luggage!
  2. I LOVE my Charger RT with Road and Track Package! When I was in Ohio recently to visit family, my brother took my car for a ride. We took a 35 mph S turn at about 80 mph. It's a pretty fun car!
  3. Is the current duramax a gm in-house motor, or was it a VM Motori motor?
  4. As someone who knows absolutely nothing about CNG autos, why would it switch between the two? Why wouldn't it burn the CNG and then if you do not fill up, at that time, switch to gas? I may be totally missing something, as I said I have no knowledge at all about CNG as a fuel source for cars.
  5. Maybe not what you were going for, but the Disney movie Cars. It is such a creative movie and is one of my favorites!
  6. Those 6.0's are gas hogs. My brother has an older (03) 1500HD with the 6.0, and when he's running around with no load he's only getting 12-14. I drive an '09 2500HD with a utility body on it and a lot of extra weight in tools, a 100 gallon off road fuel tank and parts (probably close to 11,000lbs driving around equipped as it is) and I can't even get 10, I average 9.6. My boss should have gotten the dura max for that kind of a truck! I would personally wait a year on the 14 1500, and then it will have cash on the hood too. However, it's not my truck. The interior is so much nicer on the new trucks! Good luck with your decision! Oh, and I like the red one! That color is one of my favorite colors, it's a beautiful truck!
  7. I think I just added a picture in the garage.
  8. Just traded my '12 Fusion on an '11 Charger RT with the Road and Track package. It has 29,595 miles on it and is everything I've been wanting in a car since it first was re-introduced in 2006. Love driving a rear wheel drive car again!!! I will try to post some pics tomorrow of it. Could not be happier!!!!

  10. Thanks for the birthday wishes! I spent a fabulous weekend in Ontario at Niagara Falls with my partner, it was amazing!
  11. i went to drive a fusion today and asked if they had a stick, sales dude said 'special order only'. Not sure if that's true but if a more major ford dealer doesn't want to stock a fusion stick then most of the stick sales must be going to the focus and fiesta. I have been told be several Ford dealers that a stick Fusion is special order only. I have been looking for a stick at every Ford dealer I have driven past since they came out.
  12. What's the bulge in the hood? Power dome or power bulge?
  13. According to Chevy's website, the Cruze diesel will have a starting msrp of $24,885. No indication if that includes delivery. On another note, this might just be the car to bring me back into the GM fold. A diesel car is perfect for my driving situation of running up and down the Garden State Parkway and across PA on route 80 for 27k miles per year. I'm anxious to take this for a test drive!
  14. I think calling the fuel mileage on this car mediocre is being quite generous, for a car in this class it's kind of pitiful, in my opinion. You have a Charger with a nearly 300 horsepower V6 getting an EPA rating of 31 on the highway and this car is rated at 32, and that's in it's most economical format. I think this is inexcusable. Just my 2 cents
  15. Thinking of selling the Fusion and getting a 13 Passat TDi. Don't love the looks, but a comfortable cruiser that gets 45 mpg? Sign me up! At 25-30k miles per year, a 45 mpg car would be fantastic!!!!
  16. I work for an insurance company, and as long as there is comprehensive coverage on the vehicle, floods are covered. We are paying out a boatload of money each day!
  17. In January of this year, the transmission took a crap in my 2004 Pontiac Grand Prix with 128k miles. I replaced the car with a 2012 Ford Fusion SE with the 2.5 liter and 6 speed automatic transmission. Prior to buying the car, I had read about transmission issued with the car, but mostly in 2010, and I thought maybe they had the issue fixed. My car currently has 16,500 miles on it, and I'm having transmission issues. I'm curious if anyone is familiar with that transmission and might have any information. The three times it has been to Ford it has come back with "cannot duplicate", so it hasn't been fixed. The first trip in they did a software flash, which helped, but did not solve the problem. The problem I am having is different then the issue I"m reading about in other forums. My transmission does not "flare" between the 2-3 shift. Instead, on rare occasion (about 10 - 12 times since January), when shifting from D to R it will have a long hesitation and the chunk into gear with a loud bang and a harsh shudder. I always back into parking spaces, and I always back into my garage, therefore I shift from D to R a lot. I have been unable to notice a pattern to this situation. It will do it when the car is still cold, it will do it after a 2 - 3 mile drive and it sometimes does it after my 26 mile drive to work. Temperature does not seem to have an effect on it. I have tried looking around the web for others with this issue, and I"m not finding anything. Just curious if anyone is familiar with this issue. My tech guy at Ford seems to be clueless. If you would like additional information, let me know. I would appreciate any feedback. Thanks guys!
  18. So, that probably includes vehicles like my 1929 Willy's Knight that gets driven less then 100 miles per year? My two cars have an average age of 41.5. A '12 Fusion an the '29 Willy's Knight.
  19. Thanks for the birthday wishes, I could not have asked or a nicer weekend!!!
  20. Hey everybody, Its getting to be time to start thinking about replacing my Grand Prix. I just got back from the Dodge dealership where I test drove a '12 Charger with the new 8 speed auto. I wish I could buy it, but by the time I add the options I want, I can no longer afford it. I guess this brings my search to the used car market. I really want a RWD vehicle, but other than the Charger, the only things I can think of are BMW's and Mercede's or other foreign vehicles. I am a little nervous about buying a BMW or Merc with 40-50k miles on it, because of repairs and general cost of keeping it running. I like the G8, on one hand, but on the other hand I just don't know. I don't know if there is really anything out there right now that is rear wheel drive, about the size of a G8 or Charger, or just a little smaller, and sorta decent on fuel mileage. Any good suggestions?
  21. How is a conversation with someone who is not in the car any different then a conversation with someone who is in the car different? Your mind is still in the conversation, even if the person is in the seat right next to you. Are there next going to be regulations stipulating that the driver has to be in an enclosed portion of the vehicle where he/she can't even talk to someone else who is in the car? They also better get the radio out of the car so people can't flip stations. They better start making it illegal to go to a drive through and eat in a car. This is so stupid! If the government wants to make cars safer it should be a he'll of a lot harder to get a drivers license. In NJ, the driving part of a drivers test is taken in vacant parking lot!!! Are you kidding me?!?! How does the instructor know if the person taking the test has any idea how to handle real life situations?!?!?! Sorry about the rant, I am so sick of hearing about cell phone laws. And I'm not saying that using a phone while driving is a good idea, but where are they going to stop? Are my kids, or grand children going to have ANY freedom in 100 years, in this land of the free?
  22. I have nearly every one since the mid 90's. My grandma gets them for all of her grand and great grand children every year. Mine were all in their box until my nephews came to town 6 months ago!
  23. Hey everybody, I'm taking a trip home to Ohio from New Jersey for the first weekend in December. I am really really interested in purchasing a Cruze Eco - probably an automatic, as my boyfriend doesn't know how to drive manual. I doubt I'd be able to find a Cruze Eco for rent, but I was looking to rent a Cruze, hopefully with the 1.4 turbo for my trip. Does anyone know which rental agency have Cruze's in their fleet? If I can't find a Cruze I'll just be taking the old Grand Prix for another trip! I am about 9-12 months away from looking for a new car, and I figured, a 550 mile stint behind the wheel would tell me how I like the Cruze, as far as comfort and travel is concerned. I typically driver about 1500-2000 miles when I go home for a long weekend. Thanks for the input!
  24. That's what I thought! I would never pay that much for it!
  25. I just acquired a 96 ford escort, for the sale price of $100 (it didn't run, needed the head rebuilt - I don't know, my cousin fixed it for me). I asked the seller for a bill of sale to prove to motor vehicle I only paid $100 for it. The lady at motor vehicle never looked at the bill of sale, just looked at the back of the title I was flipping for the sale price and never asked a question, I paid $7 sales tax. Kbb value in "poor condition" is still $1400-$1600. No questions asked, and this was in NJ
