  1. Wow alot of people here are either stupid, or can't read......or both. The SRT will start with a 5-speed auto, then move to a 6-speed manual. The SRT has a base price of $38K.....there are no Cadillacs with 425 HP that cost less than $38K. This 425 HP car is EXPENSIVE at $38K??? Name another car with 425 HP that costs less. Yes, the price is close to the Shelby GT500, but, as the article states, the 2010 Challenger will have the 6.4L with over 500 HP. The Challenger has a more elaborate suspension setup, and will probably be more practical for most people. I agree the Shelby GT500 is a steal at a base of $42K, but see if you can buy one for that price. Check out the comparisons of the larger Charger SRT-8, vs the Pontiac GTO. The Charger wins the speed/acceleration tests in one comparo, and slightly loses the other.....but it easily wins the handling portion in both comparos. The Charger is heavier and larger than the Challenger. The Challenger will handle just fine.
  2. Chrysler, and the UAW, paid for my education (my father was an electrician).....why would I not support them?? No Asian or foreign car maker has ever helped me or my family. Chrysler has always been an innovator instead of a follower.....and I admire that. I don't blindly follow them. In 2002 I was looking for a new vehicle, and Chrysler didn't have anything that appealed to me, so I bought my first non-Chrysler vehicle ever, a Monte Carlo SS. But, when Chrysler came out with the 300, well it was too much not to trade the Monte in for. I still would consider Chrysler 1st, and it used to be Chrysler or nothing....but now it's American or nothing.
  3. To tell you the truth, I wasn't too sure about this new Ram when I saw the first spy pic.....but after seeing the interior and the pics of the blue "Sport" version, I think it's awesome and will be a big hit for Dodge. I love how low this front "chin spolier" looks, and I think this truck looks more aerodynamic and very sporty. It reminds me of the look of the old SRT-10 Ram, with the tall hood and low "chin spoiler".
  4. You are kidding???.......right???
  5. There was only one small exterior pic before......now there are a ton of pics with the interior too.
  6. Court rules employee worked to death Fri Nov 30, 12:18 PM ET TOKYO (Reuters) - A Toyota Motor Corp employee died of overwork after logging more than 106 hours of overtime in a month, a judge ruled Friday, reversing a ministry's earlier decision not to pay compensation to his widow. The Toyota Labor Standards Inspection office, a local branch of Japan's labor ministry, refused to pay the widow the usual compensation for a spouse's work-related death, saying the man had only logged 45 hours of overtime in the month before he died, Japanese media reported. But the court ruled that the employee had worked far more than that, said Yomiuri Online, a Japanese news website. The Nagoya District Court in central Japan said the ruling overturned the labor ministry's decision. "We want to think of how to respond to this ruling by discussing it with relevant agencies," an official at the Toyota Labor Standards Inspection Office told Reuters. The employee, who was working at a Toyota factory in central Japan, died of irregular heartbeat in February 2002 after passing out in the factory around 4 a.m. "(The employee) worked for extremely long hours and the relationship between his work and death is strong," Yomiuri Online quoted Judge Toshiro Tamiya as saying. Overworking is a serious issue in Japan, where an average worker uses less than 50 percent of paid holidays, according to government data. In fiscal year 2005-2006, the labor ministry received 315 requests for compensation from the bereaved families of workers who died of strokes and other illnesses seen as work-related. Toyota said in a statement it would further improve the management of its employees' health. 7. I'm sure it would just be Chrysler 'Cuda.
  8. All I have to say is: (look at the tire smoke coming out of the hood vents! )
  9. Oddly enough, this car was not built by Chrysler, and not even with the Challenger body. It is a custom carbon fiber body, on a current Charger frame, or just with a Charger interior and some other kind of frame. Someone on Allpar noticed that the logo on the steering wheel, looks like a "Metalcrafters" logo.
  10. The new Accord is supposed to be slower than the last gen?? Estimated 0-60 in 6.5 sec. When even speculate about "estimated" time?? Motor Trend just tested the SRT-4 and said that Chrysler's estimate of 0-60 in six seconds flat was probably conservative, although they weren't able to strap timing equipment to car at the time. They said that it will most likely beat the recently tested time of the Mazdaspeed3, which was 6 seconds flat. So, it kills any Honda near it's size, and beats it's closest competitor for the same price. I guess it sucks huh?? In the time it takes the Civic Si to get to 60 mph....Chrysler could kill off another vehicle.
  11. Why is this such big news?? They are really creating alot of drama over this. Of course vehicles are going away that don't share a platform anymore. The Pacifica was built on it's own minivan derived platform that is no longer in use. It will simply move to the Journey's platform. The PT Cruiser will either combine with the Pacifica replacement and be a size between the two, or it will get a replacement based on the Cailber/Patriot/Compass platform after they axe the Compass. The Crossfire may have continued if they stayed with Daimler, but that won't happen now. They must plan on selling alot of Challengers to get rid of a vehicle that's on a current platform, or they probably just didn't include the Magnum when they redesigned the LX's. They might even build another higher end Chrysler on the LX replacement platform, called New Yorker or something, which wouldn't leave any room for the Magnum in production. It's all about production capacity, and maxing out each plant and platform. I'm surprised that they aren't building the Journey in Sterling Heights. I don't think the Sebring and Avenger are selling like expected.....but then again, why would they build something in the US when they can make it in Mexico for a fraction of the cost.
  12. This is one of the few times that I actually like wood on the dash!! Next year: !!
  13. Sorry, that car isn't nearly as menacing as the Impala SS was.

  20. It kind of resembles a 4th gen Camaro, but with a flatter front end, and some exaggerated "concept car" styling cues (see my original post with the updated pic). I guess you probably think that 4th gen Camaro's look hideous though too.....right?? Well, I loved the 4th gen Camaros......and thought that the Venom would have been an awesome competitor in that pony car market. The Venom even seemed to draw on some retro Challenger cues with the blacked out tail lamp section. You only hate it, and think that it's hideous because it's a Chrysler product. Get a life!!
  21. Yep, hideous .......kinda like :
  22. While I thought the Charger was totally awesome.....at the time the concept came out. I don't think it would fit in today, and especially with the current Chrysler lineup. It was a very "cab forward" type of design. Now, the Chrysler concept that I was most pissed that they never produced was the 1994 Dodge Venom concept. This would have been a real pony car that could have really competed with the Camaro and Mustang. It would have been a perfect replacement and evolution for the Dodge Daytona, with moving to RWD and possibly making a V8 available. Instead we only got the Avenger....which was kinda cool looking, but all show, and no go.
  23. Ummmmm......look right below the picture that is posted. The car in the picture is a drag racing car, which is why I wrote what I did under the picture in the first post. That picture was used in the Jalopnik.com article that I linked. I actually took a picture of the drag racing car that is pictured in the first post, when I was at the Woodward Dream Cruise:
