You would not believe how many 65-80 year olds the are around here who still drive. The new Buick is not what they are used to, they don't like all the technology. They like the old Buick, and still have a lot of money to spend-now mostly going to Toyota and their Avalon. As much as we on this board like the newer stuff from all of GM, there is a demographic that is being forgotten. There should still be a traditional column shift, bench seat, V8 Buick for this crowd. Kind of like how the Cadillac XTS is keeping the Deville buyers somewhat satisfied, where is a new Lesabre? I can't even count how many times my customers have had to put money into keeping a car with well over 100K miles because they can't find what they want anymore. I understand what you are saying about these people and their money, sadly they are also the fastest to go into various memory issue medical problem needs. So far reports are showing the late 50's to early 70's crowd getting dementia and Altimers . Yet those older and younger are not which tends to show you cannot stop learning or your mind dies. Buick needs to concentrate on the younger professionals that are not able to afford the more expensive Cadillac's but still want a comfortable and classy car. high end VW, low end Audi Lexus and Acura have catered to this crowd for years and will continue as they will grow older with them unless they have the means to move up. The Lacrosse and Impala take care of the Lesabre crowd as that is what my Parents were. As for the age and driving thing I understand it well as my parents and many of their friends were Lesabre buyers. Most it was their last new car and most no longer drive and many have passed like my 80 year old father. The bench seat is gone and GM was the last still trying to make it work. While there was some demand it was so few it did not warrant keeping it. Too many keep reaching back trying to think things are like the 50's and 60's but the entire auto market has shifted and changed. People who grew up in small Honda's and Toyotas have different wants and expectations. The customers GM had in the 50's are nearly lost anymore and most do not buy cars any longer. GM needs to appeal to the younger buyers and middle age buyers if they expect to get and retain customers for more than one last send off before they see God. This is working at Cadillac as they have a more respected line up than they have had in years. They may have alienated my Mother In law but that is ok as there are so few of her floaty boat ride lovers left. The few people Buick will lose with the moves they need will come back two fold with repeat customers. Just keep on doing what they were doing is a path to an end. China gave Buick a second chance and they better damn well not screw it up again. Totally agree with you on this.

No time limit that I am aware of with Synthetic oil.

In todays drive to go small turbo motored, I am surprised they would waste resources on this if it is true. Brining a Quattro CNG or Small Turbo Diesel would be more exciting than a gas guzzling twin turbo V8.

SWEET, Hopefully GM is taking note and realizing it is time for Global Diesel and CNG engine auto's. Hopefully with the new emissions being in line with the US we will see some of their awesome auto's brought here like the Opel CNG Adam. That would be a big hit here.

No matter how much people hate Microsoft, they do build a competitive product that Kinect allows more people to play than the poorly designed for little hands only controllers. People can say they think the controllers are awesome, best ever, etc. Yet not everyone fits in the perfect little 5'8" world with medium size hands. If you really wanted to get interactive with your games the future will be Kinect versus WII controllers that got loose and broke your screen. Over all I stand by my feeling and thought that this xmas will be good for both consoles and that the gaming world is going to move into new areas that allow new game designs / interaction that has not been done before.

Buick has clearly picked up notice as I see more folks in the Hi Tech crowd driving buicks here in Seattle. Mostly it is the CUV crowd and it appears to be woman who love the Encore. I can understand the Farm belt as they are much slower to change, but I suspect this will end up happening as people retire and the young come into their own. Sadly the conservative farm life is a dying career with large corporation farms.

Agree with Drew, Synthetic does not have the issues like traditional oil. So no need to change it when you have not used the life of it yet. In regards to the Brembo Brakes, I know what you mean as my Trailblazer SS with the brembo's spit out tones of Brown goo dust to cover the rims till I changed out the pads on my first brake job. Went with a Hybrid pad from Napa and wow, quite, fast stopping and very little dust. I am so much happier. Find out what other pads are available as you can probably get one that does not dirty up the rims.

Love the VOLT style and I believe the drive train needs to be moved into their mainstream auto's and SUV's and Trucks. My big issue with the VOLT is that interior room. Seems it was designed for the ultimate man of 5'8" tall. When I dropped off my Trailblazer for service, I checked out a VOLT as they had one for a loaner and I ended up taking a truck as I could not get comfy nor could I sit up straight as not enough head room. Not built for the larger men and woman of society. GM - Need this in the Tahoe, Yukon, Escalade as well as your family of CUV auto's NOW!

Interesting, bland boring and looks like the 3 series family. One must wonder what moron at BMW felt they not only needed to dilute the brand but has the arrogance to actually think this was a smart marketing and growth expansion for the company. Some times less is more and BMW seems to be doing the same stupid move the American auto companies did in the 70-80 with more versions is a good thing. NOT!

I agree with the interior note about hard plastics and shiny fake wood. Yet even with that, the interior is comfy and roomy for us big guys and it offers a full size bed utility for hauling sheetrock or plywood or just plenty of camping gear in a protection that no crewcab truck can do unless you buy the biggest beast with an 8' bed and a canopy. Avalanche you will be missed as you really were a great truck. Shame as it was an outstanding Cadillac model also. RIP Avalanche and EXT.

While everything looks and sounds right and I was expecting a powerful turbo 4, I still think it sucks that we have gone down this road. Turbo and small engines do not make for long lasting power plants in my humble opinion. But then I grew up on big v8 engines.

That is interesting and makes me wish reviews would post more comparison numbers on interior sizing as I would not have guessed that it is Near Tahoe or Yukon interior space.

Dwight I agree with what you say, sadly Marketing has people believing in Fairy tales and the truth is going to be an ugly mess when the world wakes up and realizes that DOHC, small size, etc is not all it is cracked up to be.

Top end luxury trucks if there really is a growth market for them should have plenty of power and Electronic gadgets.

Weird as I do not think of the Enclave as a large CUV. This to me is a medium size CUV. The Encore is what I think of when I hear Compact CUV, so I would think Anthem would be the small size to a medium size Enclave.

In short GM needs to focus on their strength and have a marketing company that can build the story of each divisions strengths. Chevy - Value, Built like a Rock trucks. Long lasting. GMC/Buick - Professional Grade, Luxury step up from Chevy, growth vehicles for your Growing Career. Cadillac - Luxury standard to show you have arrived. A marketing plan that would actually show how each division can help people meet their needs for their life style choices is sorely needed. I believe you can have great product and have an advertisement that covers a life style that can be addressed by the trucks, or SUV's or cars and invite people to stop by and test drive a ride that is right for them. Have the dealerships train and focus their sales people on better job of qualifying the customer and you will find more satisfied customers. Today's customers are looking for a certain life style and want to know what works for them. Perfect example is Subaru does a great job of advertising their whole company as a auto company for those living the great out doors. So even a person who might be grossly over weight and never would go out to the woods but wants this image style will go to look at the Subaru. I have plenty of coworkers who seem to fit this mold in owning a Subaru but have never been out of the city with it. GM can do a better family advertising than they are currently doing in my personal opinion.

PS4 or Xbox One, this is a battle no different than Apple versus Windows. The interfaces will be loved by some hated by others. Where Apple's Interface I find confusing, non-intuitive and over all worthless to me, I can enjoy the windows or to a lesser degree Linux better. Right now nothing really has impressed me about what I have seen on the PS4. This could change once I actually can get hands on time. XBox One I can say that many people will be really surprised just how great it is when it hits the market. Perfect? no, but Microsoft has for the last few years been using the Kinect camera's and software to map everyone on their campus to help perfect the way you interact with it. Since going in and out of the buildings, accessing rooms, etc. The Kinect is a revolutionary jump forward when it came out and again will jump ahead big time. The ability to interact with the games without having to have a control in your hands is part of the future. Sony as does WII has a long way to go to catch up. I will say that the full story is not out yet on Xbox One, Microsoft does not always do the best marketing and sharing of the details. Stay tuned as Microsoft is not done with their focus groups and they are listening to people feedback. The Xbox online experience is far superior to anything Sony has had to offer to date including keeping your profile and personal information secure. This XMAS season should be exciting for fans of either PS4 or XBOX One.

My daughter would love to have this if it came with a Volt Hybrid AWD drive-train. I actually hear from more and more people that want a CUV AWD Hybrid. I think there is great potential for this who ever brings it to market first.

Drew, While I have to agree with you that this was probably Intentional, this is to me common sense when you want to spend millions and buy up a distressed asset from a large company like GM. They should have had a better assessment of this before going in and being surprised by GM saying NO. I still believe that we will see another consolidation of the world wide Auto Industry in the next 2-5 years.
