I had a friend that brought over a car he had loaned to his nephew for a few years. There was just about everything ground in and he had tried to use a rug doctor to get it all out but still looked bad. I took the time to remove all the trim pieces so that the whole carpet could be pulled out of the auto. Trust me this did require removing seats. I then bought commercial carpet cleaner and laid the carpet out on the driveway, covered it in commercial carpet cleaner and use a stiff brush with my own arm power to scrub the whole carpet. I then covered the carpet in more cleaner and let it soak in the sun for about 30 min. Then took a hose with a strong nozzle and hosed it out. Only a couple places needed a second treatment but over all it cleaned right up and then I hung it over a ladder so the water would drain out and let the sun dry it. Once it was dried, reinstalled into the auto. No need to fear about changes as the auto carpets even with their pre-formed areas seem to hold their shape really well and it looked almost like new on the inside.

Front Page and Article format updates
G. David Felt replied to Drew Dowdell's topic in Site News and Feedback
Testing in Productions Rocks, plus I expect more people to be involved in the holidays so not many will probably notice till after the new year. Good Luck with your agenda. -
Washington is a stupid t plate state.
-
I consider myself a car nut and while I wish the Fed's would just standardize a single back plate for all states, I know it will never happen due to idiot politicians. Not worth getting upset over and I would always take the better quality of life, job and family over an auto with 2 versus one plate.

Interesting Ideas, thanks for posting Dwight.

Nice write up, learned allot about the Rav4. Have to say that the interior dash is just plain Hideous! Not a fan and it looks utilitarian cheap to me.

Hey SAmadei, Very Cool on the 2 door Tahoe. I myself have been kicking around the Idea of picking up a GT model as I loved the two door versions. My understanding from owning a 94 suburban and having friends with 4/2 door Tahoe / Yukon's is that the tail gate is inner changeable and for the most part the front door panels. Interior becomes a mix as Chevy and GMC did their own thing but mostly used the same base parts. If you go out to any of the 3rd party GM sites that sell GM parts you will find the same part fits the 2/4 door Tahoe / Suburban's for the 93-99 model year. There are certain specific parts for each year but many of the core basic parts are interchangeable. I have used the following to buy quality parts for my Suburban without paying dealership gouging prices. http://www.gmpartscheap.com/ http://www.discountgmparts.com/index.html http://www.gmpartsnow.com/?utm_source=bing&utm_medium=cpc&utm_term=gm%20parts%20online&utm_content=ad+copy&utm_campaign=gm+makes http://www.newgmparts.com/partlocator/index.cfm?siteid=213815 http://www.gmpartsdirect.com/ http://www.gm-parts-dealer.com/replacement.htm http://www.gmpartsdepartment.com/partlocator/index.cfm?siteid=214533 I am sure you will be able to get the right parts at a reasonable price to fix up your 2 door Tahoe. Good Luck.

Rumorpile: Next Commodore To Become Front-Wheel Drive
G. David Felt replied to William Maley's topic in Heritage Marques
Australians have given up...the Commodore is only 4th in sales last year, they mostly buy FWD appliances like Americans do, and some Japanese trucks. 1. Mazda3 - 44,128 2. Toyota HiLux - 40,646 3. Toyota Corolla - 38,799 4. Holden Commodore - 30,532 5. Holden Cruze - 29,161 6. Hyundai i30 - 28,348 7. Toyota Camry - 27,230 8. Nissan Navara - 26,045 9. Toyota Yaris - 18,808 10. Ford Focus - 18,586 I have a friend who went to work for a tech company in Australia and just came home for the holidays. He says he pays double what we pay for gas and everything else is almost double if not triple. He was shocked to see some items like wine from there cheaper here than down under. The public is in a pull back to the cheapest and most fuel efficient auto's they can get. Only the true upper 1/3 of the population are buying performance Holdens that tend to guzzle gas. From the sounds of things that Terry told me, it sounds like they are going through crazy prices and interest rates like we did in the 80's. Sad, but a fact of life, their next so called full size sedan will probably be a re-badged Buick. -
Nice write up, always enjoyed the Maxima, but based on the pictures, it is time for a new model that is modern and competitive. Does not look like it would stand up to a 6'6" tall person driving with room for another behind. These cars need much more space.

I would have to say I think this is one of the nicest looking 200's they have ever done. Interior is interesting, not a huge fan but what looks like a nice and great improvement over past versions. I do have to say what gives with the dinky screen on the nav/radio. That is a joke.

Somewhere I read he left due to his wife having cancer and what would then be clearly a distraction from making VW money. If true, I wish him and his family the best as I also am dealing with my mother that has cancer and it does add stress onto a persons life.

Nice looking ride but is this not the same style they had 10 years ago as it seems to be very dated.

Vehicle: Volkswagen Beetle TDi (2013)
G. David Felt replied to ocnblu's topic in Member's Rides Showcase
Yea not sure why but car diesels seem to have problems firing up in really cold weather compared to truck diesels. Weird, let us know if you figure out what was causing it. I would think it would be covered under warranty. -
End of the Road for VW's Iconic Camper Van
G. David Felt replied to G. David Felt's topic in Volkswagen
I find many references to the Mystery Machine being a VW Van, but then there are just as many postings about the Mystery Machine being at Comic Con and they have had it in the form of GM Van's, Ford Vans and VW Van's. Due to the popularity of the VW vans especially in the 60's to 70's and that many people feel that Shaggy is a user of Weed and Velma is a lesbian, I think many people tend to drift towards the idea that the van was a VW. With that said, I cannot find any clear facts from the creators of the comic series other than when I look at it, it looks like a VW van to me.- 7 replies

Interesting posted yesterday but dated Feb 14th 2013? Not sure why, but I really like this over what I have seen of the Chevy SS. Clearly something just stirs inside me more than the SS does. Sad as I am an SS man.

Holden's Managing Director Steps Down
G. David Felt replied to William Maley's topic in Heritage Marques
The writing is on the wall and the captain has seen internally that the current functional version of Holden is doomed. Off he runs to a better more secure job and I cannot blame him. I do fee sad for those that will loose their jobs and might have a hard time reinventing themselves to do new forms of work. We have seen this here in the US when we went through our own shuttering of production plants and the forced need for training of new skills so these workers can find a job. Many are able to make the change, but some sadly fall into a new low. Wish there was a better way to make sure 100% of everyone could move onto new equal or better jobs. Yet that is what a free capitalist society is built on. Those that want to improve get better and create a better life. Best wishes to all, I hope many of them start now to re-invent themselves and their skill set before the plant gets closed.- 2 replies

Good luck with your research as that is one brand that history has not really documented well IMHO.

Holden Cuts 500 Jobs Due To Strong Australian Dollar
G. David Felt replied to William Maley's topic in Heritage Marques
Sad to hear this as I hate to hear any person loosing a job especially before the holidays. Yet as GM and others have learned here in the US, Labor rates kill the ability to have manufacturing local.- 2 replies

Well, I'm afraid that I find the current lineup to be quite boring. As for the rest of your post - yes please! I understand to each their own. I feel that you could have some hot auto's. The success of the Terrain should make GMC do a Typhoon edition of it with a turbo'd V6 AWD. I think they should also bring back the Syclone. Same with the Chevy side of the family, I believe you could have some true hot SS models in the new mid size truck and small to mid CUV category. I think Buick should have a performance set of Auto's tied into the Pontiac naming as a Package. I feel that Hummer should have never been a stand alone name plate but a Extreme Off Road Package for Professional Grade trucks & SUV's by GMC.

For safety you could use bright colors in the Rhino material and coat the inside of the wheel well. This would serve to bring more light into area and make sure they do not get themselves pinched.
-
I disagree that GM is boring, plenty of exciting products. I do think they could via the GMC/Buick dealerships have a Performance based set of auto's that could get a Pontiac name.
