Sounds like Chevy and GMC want to stay apart and truly differentiate their products which would be a good thing. No need to have them sit side by side and be called the twins. Yes we know they are off the same base platform, but at least truly make the external and internal area different.

Volvo News: Volvo Announces A New Comeback Plan For The U.S.
G. David Felt replied to William Maley's topic in Volvo
I have wondered how the stand alone Volvo dealerships have survived as the one by me needs a major remodel of the show room and they do not have much inventory or seem busy. So how have they survived? With China now owning them, I know they will make a big effort to survive, but can they over come such large hurdles to really survive in the US market long term? To me they are a competitor to Buick, Lexus, Acura, not to BMW, MB or Cadillac. While I think they are quirky auto's, I wonder just how fast they can recover or if they really will to be profitable. Going to be interesting to watch.- 6 replies

LA Auto Show: The Veil Drops On The 2015 Lincoln MKC: Comments
G. David Felt replied to William Maley's topic in LA Auto Show
While I can see the generic shape of the Ford Edge here, it is clearly a solid job on making it stand alone. I like the dash layout and while easy on the eye's, I wonder if this will still blend into the background and be forgotten in a short amount of time.- 26 replies

Is AFM (Cylinder Deactivation) on the C7 worth it?
G. David Felt replied to dwightlooi's topic in Chevrolet
Very cool, look forward to seeing your review and what you think of the AFM and if any issues seem to show up. -
Sounds Like if they go with the 3.2 TT V6 it would be due to tax from the stupid Euro Zone rather than a solid TT engine. Euro zone auto rules will kill off auto companies at the rate they are going.

Is AFM (Cylinder Deactivation) on the C7 worth it?
G. David Felt replied to dwightlooi's topic in Chevrolet
No and with all the forum talk on AFM issues from Oil Consumption to rough idle and weird shift issues, I am starting to be less thrilled with AFM. Not sure why Chrysler got it going so well in the Hemi, but GM does not seem to have figured out how to do AFM smoothly yet. -
Interesting to see the amount of forums that have AFM complaints. I had not heard of this till now, but interesting to see that the bulk of them are against the 5.3L v8, a competely different AFM was built for other size engines and does not seem to get the negative press that the 5.3L does.

I read this story and laughed as they say these baby Duramax engines 2.5 and 2.8L were designed with VM Motori as additions to the Duramax family for markets where high gas mileage and low product cost is a requirement. Quote: "The newly-developed 2.5-litre and 2.8-litre Duramax diesel engines have OHC valvetrains in aluminium cylinder heads and turbocharging. Designed to offer class-leading torque, reliability and excellent fuel economy, the new Duramax engines have been tested in extreme conditions in Africa, Asia, Europe, North America and South America. They meet the advanced Euro IV emission standard." So if these engines were tested here, why are they not an option now? http://www.motortrader.com.my/news/GM-s-new-Thai-engine-plant-starts-operations/ Hello GM, the US Market is very interested in these too. Bring the 2.8L here for the Colorado/Canyon family. This is a perfect motor.

Great write up, very informative and I learned a few things about this auto that I did not know. My initial reaction to seeing the pictures is WOW, A Honda CRV Knock off. Complement to Honda, but a nice option for those that do not want to pay Honda's price. Dash is over all nice config compared to the multi layer mess Honda puts in their auto's now. I do love the sky roof. Very cool.

Very excited to see the truck and see what the official engine lineup will be. I really hope they have the 2.8L Baby Duramax Diesel as an option.

What was the main issues about AFM that turned you off?
-
I would like to see GM do something like that as well create a true family of engines. They could do a more simple multi sized version of Alpha with the drive line mounted like in a RWD car but driving the front wheels or the rear wheels or all four! Position the front axle before the engine and send the power to what ever end is required for each model! I think GM is missing out on a Great Marketing Campaign by not pointing out the Corvette V8 Engine DNA found in the new EcoTech Family of V4 & V6 engines. Race Proven Tough!

LA Auto Show: Subaru Teases The 2015 WRX: Comments
G. David Felt replied to William Maley's topic in LA Auto Show
Hatchbacks are not very popular here in Green Seattle. Subaru is big here but the hatch not so much. See plenty of WRX and STI's all over especially going up the mountain to ski or mountain bike.- 10 replies

Biggest one day stock drop due to auto Fire in Seattle Suburb
G. David Felt replied to G. David Felt's topic in Tesla
It is interesting to see how the Toxic settlement ponds from making batteries are never discussed. We have so many around the world and there was the big one disaster in Germany where the pond broke and destroyed the town, farming lands, etc. Electric is not as clean / Green as the marketing spin makes it out to be. Just like Ethonal does not clean up the air like the marketing message nor do they ever talk about the destruction of the waterways, erosion and blue babies from the growing of excess GMO corn for Ethanol production. Goerge W Bush signing the Ethonal laws in 2006 was one of the biggest green mistakes ever and Obama just continues the lie. So where is the talk about the toxic waste product from battery production? -
Twins, a good Idea to forget, re-badging nightmare all over again.

If it makes sense for MB to follow BMW with I4, I6, etc. Why not have GM go with a V4, V6 and V8. Packaging of these pushrods would be tight, very fuel efficient and allow room for TT of each engine.

Nice ride, way to go and good luck with the house. A far better investment than an auto.

Biggest one day stock drop due to auto Fire in Seattle Suburb
G. David Felt replied to G. David Felt's topic in Tesla
In looking at the tesla web site for spec's, they talk about using high impact plastics as covers. I wonder if this is what is covering the battery and why an impact tends to cause the battery fire. They state 6" of ground clearance, but I saw two over the weekend and both seemed to be much lower. -
Very interesting, never thought someone would want to have a poser cover on their brakes but I guess if you are only going for a look this will work. Good Luck.
