    Gov spending on R&D for Space to the auto industry and High Tech is good for the country. We could easily get this out more if we just closed some of our 1082 military bases and 500 black op bases and spent that money at home. Just closing 25% would allow us to invest in the roads, Electrical Grid, Clean water and securing the borders along with pushing the VOLT technology into more GM cars. I would have no problem giving each auto company even asian and europe company say 1 billion each as long as they deliver within 18 to 24 months a CUV or SUV Hybrid auto that uses a VOLT like power train. Helping companies to move to better technology that is over all good for the planet and for job creation is a good thing in my book. I really HOPE GM will scale the VOLT technology and get it into full Size SUV's, Pickups and Vans. This is where we can really see benefits for fuel savings.

    As long as they keep making and selling Captiva regardless of fleet or personal purchase, they figure they can probably put the resources on other auto's that need it.

    If they can push out the Lifers who are set in their old out dated way of thinking, then GM can really move the ball and kill the competition. They are getting there, but there is still much legacy house cleaning to do.

    Yup, that one I am well aware of, 257 million auto in this country over 11 years of age or older. When you consider what CNG - Compressed Natural Gas costs compared to petrol. It totally justifies the up front cost of home fueling hardware as the savings over the long haul is huge. Over ten years you can save over $20K dollars and more.

    Sounds like a 'software factory' mentality. Having worked in quite a few software companies (and traditional IT departments of Fortune 500 companies), I've seen a lot over the last 15 years....approaches like like this don't work... Over the last 20 years I have learned that hardware managers are clueless at managing software dev engineers and software are clueless at managing hardware Dev engineers. While learning hardware work flow of development is easier than software. it just does not work well when you bring outsiders that have no experience in the other side of the industry in to manage a group of people. Their stay in that position is always short lived.

    I am growing a CNG business of selling cng fueling equipment, but it does not pay all the bills so still working in the computer industry till I reach that important break point of cash flow and this job allows me to leave all earnings in the business reinvesting to make it stronger for when I do go full time on the CNG only.

    True, yet I keep seeing more and more Captiva's on the roads around here. I thought it was a canada version at first since we are on the boarder with Vancouver and then I saw my local Chevy Dealer Lee Johnson have about 20 of them in various configurations on the lot and as I looked around found more and more chevy dealers having them on the lot for sale to the public. Thought it was a fleet only ride, but guess there is always ways to get around it.

    I have gone through this with my 94 GMC Suburban. I recommend you go to Car Toys. They do an awesome job and once you tell the sales person what vehicle you have, they can show you what will fit from a head unit and still tend to look stock without cutting up the dash and let you listen to a series of speakers to find out what is good to your ear. It is hard today to find any truly bad speakers, but each of us hear things differently and as such I recommend you listen to the speakers to make sure your type of music sounds like you expect. I also suggest you look at Bi or Tri speakers as you can get some awesome range in these speakers without having to put in sub-woofers.

    Is that just stupid weak marketing or what? I swear that we seem to have gone to a pathetic entitlement crowd of marketing dweebs. No originality, nothing to spark passion, Anyone could have counted off these stupid numbers.

    Yea, Right now I am having thoughts that it might be time to look around for another job. Leadership at my current place of employment has had a major turn over and things right now are not looking that great. Too many new faces that have been promoted from other divisions that have no clue about the products we build and that unlike the rest of the company that is all hardware based, we are a software based solution of products and the whole Widget approach does not work with software. The writting on the wall is when a new manager comes in, never takes time to talk to the staff and starts telling the team we are going to step up our game and people will be held accountable for fixing X amount of bugs a day, closing X amount of bugs a day, diagnostics on X amount of bugs a day and code X amount of lines a day. Clearly clueless about how Software works in comparison to hardware. Again, not a widget company.

    Yes I would agree with GM that their current CUV's are doing well, but they have ignored a important segment of hardcore users/buyers. Us Body on Frame folks like a true 4x4. I see a decent profitable size market for the Trailblazer especially if they bring it here with the powerful baby Duramax engines.

    If he is not balancing personal and professional than one can burn out. I suspect that this is personal for now but by early next year he will be at another auto company.

    WOW, that is a nice Cougar. It amazes me how people will spend money to buy something nice like this and then trash it.

    Here the 1 series sit on the lots due to all the high tech workers go right into the 3 series if BMW is what they want or the 5 series, like most places the 7 series is seen but rare.

    I have yet to see either of the twins here on the roads in seattle. They sit on the lots. People want more than a two seater and I think this is a valid concern and I doubt they will really be able to recover the investment once they have to many versions of a limited use auto like this. Society has gotten away from the driving machines and the extra income to spend on a 3rd auto like this. If they can do the turbo with minimal cost that can truly be recovered, great otherwise this is what I see as a limited run car of 3-5 years before it goes away.

    I know to some it might seem like there is no competition to the outback, but with all the various CUV AWD. Do they really think another station wagon is the right answer? I know Europe still like Station Wagons, but that is not in favor here in the US.

    That is freakin Beautifull. Saw a 68 GTO Convertible and a beat up Sunfire Convertible on the way in today.
