  2. So I found over at the Dodge Forum an interesting read on their Question of the Week: Is there a chance in Hell that Dodge brings back the Demon? http://dodgeforum.com/articles/queston-of-the-week-is-there-a-chance-in-hell-that-dodge-brings-back-the-demon/ This write up is an interesting one and the pictures of the writer existing 72 Demon is very cool. This got me to thinking what the writer did not cover. If Dodge does a Demon Edition of the Dodge Dart, besides Body Modifications what type of motor, transmission, driveline, etc should this special hell on wheels have? What would you the potential buyer want in a limited edition version like this?
  3. I can state for a fact that Hybrid is the farthest thing from the gates mind as Bill has 3 Porsche 959 that he drives around here and you see him drive them with his wife to the Crab Cracker in Kirkland where he eats 1-2 times a week. His wife drove an econo car at MSFT but then even that changed once they married and no one has seen them around here driving hybrids. All 3 cars I see as a waste of resources but then with the profits some of these companies make especially Porsche they can afford to waste some.
  4. Again with the tin-foil hat... :tinfoil: VEBA is not managed by the UAW though the UAW is the primary beneficiary. VEBA is the vehicle to distribute contractual benefits to retirees and former employees of Chrysler and GM. It is not meant to be an indefinite fund and they do need the cash to pay those benefits. Selling those shares was planned from the start... the only reason this is news is because Fiat will be the largest purchaser. We'll if I have a Tin Hat on so be it, but the way the media has stated this left me with the impression that VEBA and the UAW were joined at the hip as one big group different divisions. I appreciate the clarity as I had not heard it put this way before. Still sad that they could not think of a way to hold onto shares as part of the investment portfolio that generates the funds to pay the retire benefits.
  5. The price of the S series, do these 1/10th of 1% people really care about hybrids?
  6. They used the name of the old Opel Monza https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/8/8d/Opel_Monza_GSE_vl_white_TCE.jpg That looks like an old 80's Chevy. Forgot the name of the one but I clearly remember this car as a Chevy I think from the 80's. Interesting in that when I did a image search by google and Bing that neither ever brought this car up for me but the older Chevy Monza Prototypes. The no variants of Monza and Senator were ever sold here, but certain versions of them look like an '84 Ford LTD mated with a Plymouth Reliant. OK, I was off by a few years but the 1977 Chevy Monza is what the opel reminds me off.
  7. I choose to Disagree with you Drew All my travel to Europe has pounded into me a clear attitude of driving is for the well paid mass transit is for the rest or a solid moped. So this is my perception and take on spending 15-20% of my life at trade shows around Europe. For those that do drive, they accept compact or sub compact diesel and the high prices that go with it. That stated, in the US and this is probably colored by living in a state with high fuel tax's and a big Hi-tech industry that most people here in talking with them do not consider diesel in these two categories of cars. Due to a much higher than average income many have already moved up scale in the auto scene. In regards to my comment on the obese auto's and their nanny devices, I am not the only one here that has complained about the waist line of the auto's getting thicker and the crazy required electronic devices. But then it was just my personal take on what I see and interpet. Thanks for the UFO Blast as I do miss them not visiting me as often as they did back in the 90's.
  8. Who makes the Sears Platinum Gel Pack Die Hard batteries as I am really impressed with them. Wish GM would put the Gel Pack batteries in their SUV's and top of the line auto's as I think with all the electronics, having the extra CCA is worth it. Just had to replace the 5yr old GM battery in my 2008 Trailblazer SS and WOW what a difference, I can now tell that over the last year, all the weird electrical issues were clearly the battery slowly dying. Will remember for the future to only go 4yrs before replacing them.
  9. Washington state currently with our one of the highest gas tax's in the nation is at a pathetic $3.78 per gallon for 87 octane gas as of this morning. Diesel is currently $4.07 per gallon. Natural gas CNG is currently $2.09 per gallon. http://www.gasbuddy.com/ Found Gasbuddy.com to be a great place to find low priced fuel.
  10. Your plans Drew sound awesome. You have done an amazing job, please take a few days to truly have some Drew Days to yourself. Nothing wrong with being a bit selfish in needing some personal time to veg, go do something special with someone or just take that well deserved mental break. If there is anything I can do, please just ask. Thank you for all you have done.
  11. Sad that the Unions have no interest in having ownership in the company they work for. The Union Leaders just want the cash to squander and then later on tell the people that paid in there is nothing left for them after they have used up the money. I see this not ending well for the union.

  13. Interesting Design, I am a bit surprised they have used the name from the Chevy Monza for this concept. I would love to have the 1963 Chevy Monza Concept produced today. That would be an awesome car.
  14. Never will happen based on their comments and the lack of Toyota to think outside a box for Design language.
  15. No, no ,no... I meant as perceptions being of diesel being frugal but not the sporty choice... Not really sure the perception that Diesel is Frugal will change much here in the US. Europe is already use to a cast system of those that can afford cars and those that cannot and must use mass transit. Here in the US I believe even with high fuel economy, an expensive sub compact or sub sub compact running expensive diesel will not appeal to the masses as people's perception is that the tiny little cars are cheap commuter cars and we all know diesel is not cheap. Not sure that we will see the mass adoption of Diesel as a Frugal entry level auto that some people are hoping for, but I do wish the auto companies luck on going to more diesels as we need torque monsters to move the OBESE AUTO's due to all the stupid NANNY Devices being required on cars today.
  16. MB has not been in the top 10 for quality and reliability since before 2000 just like BMW has not. Both companies have huge cost structures due to the unions and are living on their name. I wondered about the profit that SMK posted so did a little binging and came up with these stories: http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2011-05-04/bmw-quarterly-profit-advances-on-demand-for-5-series-x3-models.html BMW made a profit of 4,462 euros per car on average, compared with 4,145 euros at Daimler AG’s Mercedes-Benz and 2,981 euros at Volkswagen AG (VOW)’s Audi. We need to get caddy to have the profit margin being reported by Porsche. http://www.autospies.com/news/Porsche-posts-28-247-average-profit-per-car-38433/ Porsche posts $28,247 average profit per carThat is some freakin profit.
  17. Love the car, the commercial is spot on in more ways than just talking about a car. I get the sense that this car is more about being your weekend driving machine as it would not be a good commuter car. I love the look of the car as it is better looking than the vanilla Chevy design language right now. Jelly Bean CUV's or Jelly Bean Cars take your pick. Yes it is a bit dated, but then it still does have a macho stance to the car that catches my attention. Love it still and would take it here in the states.
  18. Very cool site, interesting stats. I agree with POW that there should be mode selectable options. I just wish they would put this power train in a full size SUV.
  19. Could we be seeing Acura kill off their cars due to going to a modular new base design that will allow them to have higher quality but go back to their smaller is better, simpler roots of a driving machine? In looking around and reading elsewhere, I have to wonder if Acura is not looking to standardize their product lines to reduce cost, improve profits and still allow them to have two distinct auto's.
  20. AAA is a good way to go since you are going to get rid of the Envoy, otherwise I recommend the Die Hard Gell Pack Platinum battery. I have them in my SUV's and they rock.
  21. I see this as VW being concerned about the US car companies getting on the TDI band wagon. The Cruze Diesel is a perfect reason to try and corner the market before others can really compete.
  22. This totally makes sense since everyone has to get on the Nazi EPA Gas standards. This will hurt not help the US. I am all for setting emission standards to clean up the air but they need to get over having gas mileage as a requirement.
  23. I would look to Energy Suspension for beefier suspension components. The SX4 around here people have loved to get up the mountain to ski/snowboard, but everyone agrees that if you get 10K miles before a suspension problem shows you did good. Sad as the little car has so much potential.
  24. Well, Cadillac has made that statement already by having the Escalade as its pricier model... Escalade isn't a statement... it's a leftover. Escalade is NO LEFT OVER!
