Industry News: Fewer Americans Are Carrying Driver Licenses
G. David Felt replied to William Maley's topic in Industry News
Washington state has a law for driving too slow in the left lane of which is costs you $136 if you are 10mph or slower in the left lane. The new added fees are being put in place to force people to obey the using left lane to pass and not go slow causing cars to back up or pass on the right. The proposed law would add another fine for continuously driving at slow speeds, based on how far below the speed limit they are traveling. Between 1 and 5 mph, the extra fine would be $27. That would go up to $37 for 6 to 10 mph below the maximum speed limit; $52 for 11 to 15 mph and $67 for 16 to 20 mph. Bill can be found here: http://app.leg.wa.gov/billinfo/summary.aspx?bill=6105&year=2015- 7 replies

Industry News: Fewer Americans Are Carrying Driver Licenses
G. David Felt replied to William Maley's topic in Industry News
We would see a bigger drop if they enforced having to read, write and speak english to get their drivers license. To many states including Washington where I live allow people to take their drivers test with an interpreter so they get to drive. F the ability to communicate to police, fire or medical. Politicians have screwed this country over by implying that driving is a right. It is NOT it is a Privilege you earn. We need to enforce this rather than allowing timed non speaking english people to drive on the roads and then get over into the left lane going 20+ under the posted speed limit.- 7 replies

Cadillac News: Cadillac Is Working On A RWD Sedan To Sit Below ATS
G. David Felt replied to William Maley's topic in Cadillac
So Very true, but then if Cadillac has a RWD sub compact luxury car. Does that not mean MB and BMW are failing due to their FWD appliances in that same category? Wonder how one will move his goal posts to justify that MB is still superior to Cadillac?- 79 replies

WOW, Like ccap41, They still make this? The exterior is nice but been there done that. Interior is truly dated and wow talk about marked up hard plastics. That car has been used, abused and clearly needs a serious update. Yes some hard core sports fans will still buy it, but I doubt it will sell much. What 15-20K units? What was the number of units sold last year?

So you are more proud of GM for sticking it to the US taxpayer while also crushing the life savings of so many families......yet you frown on Ford for borrowing the old fashion way and paying it back huh? Interesting. Nope, I am not proud of sticking it to the tax payer, but at the same time, during a terrible time over all for the country, why not use the laws to clean up the books and turn the ship hard rather than slow. The airplane industry has already abused the tax payer for the over paid pension funds that were dumped on us to allow United, AA and many others to still survive and have the tax payers cover the over kill on pension funds. I just feel Ford should have used the same route to clean up and unload the pensions and move forward as all companies need to just endorce the 401K, dump pensions and move forward. Companies should have never offered the pensions to begin with.

Audi News: Audi Gets Q2 and Q4 Trademarks From FCA
G. David Felt replied to William Maley's topic in Volkswagen
Weird as the Autoblog story says the coupe like version as stated here of the Q3 so they also imply a car version of an CUV? Very confusing. -
Audi News: Audi Gets Q2 and Q4 Trademarks From FCA
G. David Felt replied to William Maley's topic in Volkswagen
And the Confusion will continue and go from there for Audi CUV's and Cars. Their naming convention is so confusing that it is amazing anyone can figure it out. Q# for all the auto's and does not really help clarify car, CUV,SUV. I so hate this naming. Idiots in Marketing that cannot seem to come up with a proper way to differentiate between them. -
I agree, Cadillac does need more models and they will have them soon. I realize not soon enough for you SMK. I also will have to disagree with you over FORD. With Fords DEBT load, if they really paid down what they borrowed they would not have a single profit. FORD has been lucky but could be even better if they went the bankruptcy route and dumped all the crazy obligations to unions and other crap to over paid executives and cleaned house. I truly think it would have been better to actually use the courts to right side and then prove that you did not need 7 years to get profitable. GM is doing well, we all want more and expect more and I think they have the right CEO now to make it happen. I still question if Johan was the right person to lead Cadillac. I personally do not think so. FCA is a mess we all know and agree on that. Sergio is an idiot and killing off the better brands all for trying to hold onto his stupid Italian ones.

So are you saying that on days when the banks, postal, schools, pretty much all gov employees have off that you would not like to be off also on that day? Other than gas, hotel, grocery and restaurants why not have everyone off spending time with family? Well, I'm my own boss, but that said; I work on plenty of holidays, at my choice. Other than a handful of the holidays, they aren't really 'family time' days by nature, anyway. Columbus Day- pffft! In fact, working on holidays insures a lot better commute. Just seems to me we have a pretty good list of holidays as it is, and I still prefer if private companies made their own call. I can and do respect the ability to allow companies to choose their holidays especially when your self employed. I just feel that major holidays like Thanks giving, it sucks that retail opens up and pulls people away as well as has people work those days. Everyone needs some down time. The easiest way to insure down time is to have everyone take the same holidays off for the most part and like all rules, there is always a need for addressing the little businesses. So for self employed and small businesses under 100 people, I would say this is not needed. Yet I do agree with the easier commute on the holidays when you do need to drive.

Cadillac News: GM Plans On Importing CT6 Plug-In Hybrid from China
G. David Felt replied to William Maley's topic in Cadillac
This does not bother me and I think it will work well for GM. Eventually I hope that sales get to the point where they can justify building them here.- 29 replies

Usually I can agree with the majority of your thinking, but this time I have to disagree. The Syclone and Typhoon have performance heritage that is not tarnished and you could use the names on 21st century modern versions. Maybe these would have AWD with an Electric boost system that we have seen in other auto's. I believe you are right that not all legacy names should be reused, but some sure could be used over again on a 21st century version auto.

So as usual you move the fence post and compare apples to oranges as the Continental is NOT to compete with the S class from your beloved MB. IF RWD is so superior then how do you justify not only MB, but BMW and Audi with all their FWD appliances? So then this is the Chevy, Ford, Dodge side of the German companies? So then you drive an equal Chevy used at that MB auto since MB is no longer just a Luxury auto maker but a build for everyone with generic appliances on FWD base as well as RWD.

VW News: As the Diesel Emits: Volkswagen's CEO "We Didn't Lie"
G. David Felt replied to William Maley's topic in Volkswagen
VW, Expect losses and some dealers to have to close down. Your arrogance of America is amazing. More will shun your products no matter how good they are just to avoid a deceitful, deceptive, condescending arrogant company like you.- 3 replies

I hear what you are saying and would agree with most of it. I believe there is a proper place for the Denali package as is today as most people just want a top of the line auto with trimmings. Then I believe there should be a Denali Syclone and Denali Typhoon packages. These would have everything plus the performance parts. Denali Syclone would be on all trucks. Denali Typhoon would be on all SUV/CUVs. New Package would be: Denali Hurricane package This would be the hardened capabilities of the Hummer on any Truck or SUV/CUV. This would allow GMC to have the H4 to compete with the wrangler but also GMC would then have a Raptor competitor.

"Full time 4WD, also called permanent 4WD, (not to be confused with:part time 4WD ) is a system that powers all four wheels at all times and it can be used full time on all surfaces including pavement. The additional feature of a differential incorporated into the transfer case makes it possible to use 4WD all the time. 2WD is not available (only part time 4WD offers that option)" http://www.rubicon-trail.com/4WD101/difference_4WD_awd.html The system the "auto" system that Chevy does, my Avalanche had it, leaves the front wheels on partially. In Auto, I could drive it normally. In 4Hi, the front wheels would bind up if I tried to take too tight of a turn. It was more of a "locked front end" when in 4Hi. Ya Rock! That was a great link to explain the differences. Cadillac really needs to clarify the Full Time 4WD. AWD with a 4LO option is what it really is and that is great.
