So 6hrs later with skin graft off the right side of the cheek going into the thigh I have a new nose in a nose cast. Have to work from home as I have to limit interaction and cannot lift anything till next Wednesday when it comes off and I see my new nose. Thanks all for your well wishes, joking and thinking of me. Look forward to being back online and enjoying the debates of the auto world.

Wow man, it looks unfreaking believable. An ST wagon?!! I just wish for once, people would NOT buy a crossover and buy this thing, or others things that compete directly with this thing. You get the style of a sedan, with the utility of the crossover, with the exclusivity of hero vehicle. My wife and I both grew up with our families having Oldsmobile Delta 98 Custom Cruiser. I loved the rear facing 3rd Seat. That was mine. This picture is what our station wagon looked like, but my wife says her families was more of a light yetllow with wood grain. With that said, while I understand your desire for people to not want to buy crossovers, more and more people are finding that cars are not that great on the terrible road system the US has let crumble. If you do a road trip, people have found the higher seating position and road clearance to be a big benefit in dealing with potholes, cracked/crumbling roads. I myself happen to like driving my Suburban and my other SUV's over a regular car sitting so much lower. As long as they offer variety, that is what counts and if you like the station wagon import one. You would be surprised the numerous ways to get around normal regulations and import a car you like to drive here. I have seen so many R33 & R34 Skylines in the Seattle area.

Toyota News: Toyota Reconsiders The Prius Strategy
G. David Felt replied to William Maley's topic in Toyota
Prius Family I believe will continue to shrink as Toyota and other companies like GM find ways to use the Hybrid plug in model on more common desired auto's. For GM, I hope the Equinox / Terrain ends up with a plug in Hybrid power train. My gut tells me the RAV4 Hybrid will do much better than the Prius V. After all everyone wants a CUV with better MPG but no loss in functionality. -
So found this on Motor Trends web site, the top 10 concepts that should have been built. I have to say I really like most of them and the one Chrysler did, while the first time seeing it for me, this should have been done from day one. Talk about pure sex on wheels. http://www.roadandtrack.com/car-culture/g6565/10-concept-cars-we-wish-had-made-it-to-production/?slide=1 My Favorite two are as follows: Chrysler Atlantic Concept Cadillac Sixteen Plenty of other cool auto's but these two are my fav's.

Two weeks ago went into the dermatologist. Found a spot on my nose, skin cancer. Today went into the Skin Cancer Alliance in Seattle for removal. Now I have a bobbed nose, packed and face bandaged up. Tomorrow, I go see a Skin Cancer Plastic Surgeon for Nose reconstruction. Skin will come from my ass, so now I really will have my ass on my nose. So if I am not around the next few days, this is why. Catch up with you all later.

Cadillac News: One and Done: Cadillac ELR
G. David Felt replied to William Maley's topic in Cadillac
Naw, Use the tech they have learned from the VOLT and BOLT and Build a True XT5 EV with 300 mile range and give Tesla a run for it's money. This should be on dealer lots by 2018.- 28 replies

Cadillac CT6 Review Thread: Post Them ALL Here.
G. David Felt replied to Cmicasa the Great's topic in Cadillac
So we need to convert coal to Natural Gas, a logical stepping stone. Increase the capacity of solar and wind, plus make ALL homes being built now required to have Solar roofs so they can help generate their own power plus return to the grid what is not used or needed. We can improve all this buy cutting half the military bases around the world and stop being the global police man and let the Arabs protect their own oil to market. Plus the east coast based on the last few years are not using Arab oil. The US is self sufficient using Tar sand oil and US pumped crude. We do not even bring in oil from Venezuela any longer. Let them figure it out on funding themselves and lets focus on rebuilding america strong. Put the soldiers from the closed bases on the border to keep illegals out. Rebuild a smart grid, updated water and sewer systems. Roads, etc. We can be strong but it comes from investing in ourselves and paying down debt. Yes we have climate change, to off set this we need to find better, smarter ways. Auto's are not the polluting pigs they once were, but can still get cleaner. Yet we have plenty of other options. All trains need to convert their diesel generators to CNG or LNG. All long haul trucks should also be CNG/LNG. So how does this rant really come full circle to the CT6? Simple, we can and should have this luxury bad boy as a Hybrid, pure EV and alternative fuel such as BioDiesel or CNG. -

Ford recorded a pre-tax profit of $10.8 billion for 2015.
G. David Felt replied to FordCosworth's topic in Industry News
I am very excited that Ford is doing so well, but having the SECOND highest debt load of auto companies is not a good thing and I do wonder how the Asian Rim slow down will affect FORD. Ford is already expecting large increase in losses in South America. So debt is a concern. Job loss here will affect us greatly. -
Cool review, was wondering how this matched up against others. Bummer that a solid ridding auto has to loose out due to a less than stellar motor.

GM needs to have 3rd party Certified GM parts players. This way GM does not have to get involved past 2-3 types of wood, Carbon fiber, etc. Small quantity use of parts like this can get expensive for a company like GM. Yet this is a perfect job for a small company at a higher price to do. Before anyone says there are 3rd party suppliers, lest I remind you that many 3rd party suppliers have terrible fit n finish. A certified program would guarantee tight fit n finish. -

^ Probably true, but I would like to still see it as it is a Luxury auto maker. I see the massage chair is only in the S class and 7 series so I guess for the US market, only the best of the best on product lines to offer this. -

Not to hijack ocnblu's spotlight... but I drove my '15 Canyon in the snow last weekend (total measured 20.5 inches where I live). Not one issue with the truck and it continued on its way regardless of the amount of snow on the road, the slushy semi-plowed areas, or the slick spots from snow drifts. Handles much better in 4WD than my '06 Envoy 4WD did. So then are you ready to trade it in for the Duramax Diesel version? Ocnblu and GMTruckGuy74 please post some pics of your rides in the snow! PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE

I am wondering if the CT6 as well as the whole Cadillac line up will get some of the creature comforts you find in China. Massage chairs, extended length version so us tall folks will have extra leg room. I would really like to see some of the cool things sold in China offered here also. Global is Global so why only keep it in China? -
G. David Felt Staff Writer Alternative Energy - www.CheersandGears.com Electric NASCAR Dreams by Bill Nye The Science Guy Over at the INQUISITR web site, they posted their story about Bill Nye the Science Guy. Bill says that NASCAR is holding back the auto industry by relying on old technology. The races run engines using carburetors, getting about 2-3 MPG and sending a ton of Green House gas into the atmosphere. Bill is quoted as follows: “We could convert all of our race cars to electricity – right now – and show the public exactly what electrons can do. And most significant from my point of view, everyone in the crowd, every race fan, would want an electric car! The market for electric cars would go crazy.” They also quote Fox Sports response to Bill: Fox Sports, a critic of Bill’s plans has already rejected it as impossible; Fans won’t like the quieter cars or the lack of exhaust fumes in the air, and nobody will want to pay to convert all of their cars to electric. Bill counters this with pointing to the F1 Electric racing that has taken off and is growing in popularity. People can talk in normal tones about the race without having to shout and loose hearing as they do at NASCAR. You can read Bill Nye the Science Guy original BLOG post here! Bill looks back on his roots of growing up in Durham North Carolina and how he loved NASCAR. Sadly NASCAR has not grown up with technology and the 21st Century according to BILL. So what are your thoughts on this, Should NASCAR change over to Electric and have quick change battery packs to run their races? Will the Fans hate it or embrace it the way F1 fans have? What are your thoughts?

G. David Felt Staff Writer Alternative Energy - www.CheersandGears.com 7 Decades Later Land Rover Defender Dies! CNN Style is reporting that the production of the Iconic Defender has come to an end. Based on and a compliment to the Jeep Willey, the Land Rover Defender was a box use by the UK Military, Ambulance services, Police and Explorers the world over and Land Rover says that two thirds of the two million plus Defenders manufactured since 1948 are still on the road or off running strong today. History tid bit is that the box design that never got curvy was due to the lack of stamping machinery after the war, steel was not readily available but aluminum was leading to the long life that the Defenders have. More details and some awesome pictures of the Defender and it's manufacture here: Land Rover Defender News

Wings thanks for posting some good info. In regards to me possibly trolling or snipping about debt, it is just a valid concern of real life. I do not like companies that use bankruptcy, but then it does happen. I am more pissed off with Idiots like Trump that dump not once, twice but three times both business and personal over a 7 year span to increase his wealth and dump the debt on the little guy or in this case guys AKA the hard working american. I am very happy for Ford having felt the need to get cash via loans and prep for the down turn. The interesting issue I have with Ford Debt is when you REVIEW the last 5 years you see they had debt paid down to 27 Billion by 2011 and now they are over 100 Billion. You are saying it cost them 73 billion to build 3 new platforms? This is my concern with Toyota also who leads all Auto companies with 165 Billion in Debt. Sales, Profits, etc seem to be a bit out of line compared to the debt. I just do not want people to loose jobs during the next down turn due to CEOs and the boards not properly paying down debt and paying key executives crazy multi million pay packages. -
G. David Felt Staff Writer Alternative Energy - www.CheersandGears.com EV Car Owners Allowed To Use Bus Lanes in UK Cities UK DOT has given the top 8 cities funds to install electric chargers, preferred parking spots and advertise in a bid to encourage citizens to turn in their petrol auto and move to EVs. The biggest benefit is EVs are now allowed to use the dedicated Bus Lanes all over even if they are a single driver. According to "the guardian" the UK sees this as their solution to meeting the carbon budget and cut the illegal levels of nitrogen dioxide pollution that chokes British cities. England's government give £5,000 to buyers of Electric autos. To quote the guardian, "Milton Keynes and Derby will copy similar measures in Norway and allow the cars to drive in miles of bus lanes, while owners in Hackney will be able to plug in at street lights. York drivers will be able to recharge their batteries at a solar-powered park-and-ride and electric car owners in Bristol and Milton Keynes will be allowed to park for free." The full Story is found here. So what do you think, is allowing EVs to use dedicated Bus lanes a smart move? what about some of the other perks various cities mentioned above have done to encourage EV purchases and use? Could this be the start of a push to rid Diesels from the streets and get auto's to alternative fuels? Sound off on what you think about this!

But SMK always says an auto is $h! if it does not have a V8! So this Truck will be $h! from the Get Go after all it is NOT a REAL MB but a rebadge Nissan! On top of this, never seen a Sprinter dealership in my life, as Balthazar has stated, I only find MB Dealerships with the Sprinter vans out front next to the S, E, C, etc. class of auto. So being the German Version of Chevy, this should fit right in for the RedNeck buyers next to the Sprinter Family haulers.

Ford recorded a pre-tax profit of $10.8 billion for 2015.
G. David Felt replied to FordCosworth's topic in Industry News
Really? Yes Really, We are seeing a global slow down and there are plenty of indicators that the US could move towards slow growth. If so then this could really hurt FORD especially with the South American market supposedly increasing in losses. So a good year is excellent, but how does it compare to the debt load they are carrying? We'll some good news and some bad news. Ford is currently rated #3 in its category so it is handling debt ok better than allot but could still improve. https://www.macroaxis.com/invest/ratioCompare/F--Debt_to_Equity--Current_Ratio Debt to Equity stands at 4.58 times earnings, so again good, hopefully with their big cash earned they pay some debt down. https://www.macroaxis.com/invest/ratioCompare/F--Debt-to-Equity--Cash-and-Equivalents Total Debt = Bonds + Notes = $126.42 billion owed to creditors. https://www.macroaxis.com/invest/ratioCompare/F--Debt-to-Equity--Total-Debt Alternative source of comparing their debt to equity ratio in the industry. https://ycharts.com/companies/F/debt_equity_ratio Ford Debt to Equity is 4.58 times earnings. GM Debt to Equity is 1.657 times earnings. FCA Debt to Equity is 2.196 times earnings. Tesla Debt to Equity is 2.017 times earnings. Intersting Analysis of Ford compared to Toyota, Honda, GM, TATA, Based on this I am surprised to see Toyota with such high Debt, Higher than FORD. Toyota Debt is 165.89 billion. https://www.macroaxis.com/invest/compare/F Pretty interesting numbers to compare. I hope the world market does not dump too hard with Europe and Asia in a down turn. -
Yes to some this is a dated design, to others it is a conservative design that will appeal to those wanting a convertible in the sun belt. Over all this will sell and make some money before being retired. No lose, but marginal gain I see.
