Me too, I have total respect for this car and this 76-77 LeMans front end.

No government is helping the problem though. GM took government money and that opened up a whole new can of worms, GM should have changed alot of things along time ago. It would have started with better managment and not giving into the Union. Government is now part of the problem and another thing GM has to deal with. The sooner GM can get free from the government the better off they will be. Domestics problems started long before this bail-out but they certainly haven't helped, marked my words. (Government that is.) Government can't run themselves well much less a car company! I am just sick of everyone saying Obama and the Government had nothing to do with it, because they have been part of the problem since GM took the money. Just since that point, not before, although CAFE and regulations and poor trade policy haven't helped. Just watch out. -
Who said Obama wasn't behind the death of Pontiac?

Olds and Daryl both of you are right. It would have BEEN much better than this. -

Yup, that could very well happen. -

Amen. If Pontiac goes now it is gone for good I think though, they just need one model or two to remain as place holders. -

Camino: Well this is positive news, I will pray you are right. FOG: I do have some fear Government will go after classic cars, that get bad fuel economy, that are fun to drive and have big V8's. Nothing is stopping them, plenty of "green" people on booth sides of the political specturm to support this. Hell GWB let CAFE go through, and I wasn't happy with him about that. Both sides have come under attack of our freedoms with things like CAFE or cash for clunkers law. Having said that FOG, as much as I hate to say it, I HAVE TO agree with you. I just don't want to say anything to loud. Then again why should I care if I write GM/Pontiac emails or disagree with others on this forum. Or disagree with government taking over compaines like GM and telling them what to build. The free market will work and the people will demand what they want. Keep fighting the good fight, I fear lots of things we will not like are going to happen to our cars and more importantly lives that we will not like. It this makes me stupid or crazy so be it. This group think scares me and that GM is the big bad wolf building un-efficent, poor quality cars people don't want upsets me. I don't trust anyone or anything anymore, and especially government. -

Bless you Camino, bless you. -
Indeed, well I can't get too worked up over it until summer when she gets fixed. In the mean time I have bigger fish to fry. Sorry to hear about your wifes ride getting hit.

I have to agree. It is a really boring car and isn't any better than the superior Honda Civic or Ford Focus.

Thank you, I don't expect anyone to read it, but it made me feel better. Daryl should I feel bad for doing it, or expressing my concerns? I thought it was always welcomed in this country. Then again maybe I am wrong. Prolly wrong for sticking by GM all these years, and if Chevrolet and Cadillac live, I plan to do so. I just hope my son or I can get our hands on a new Camaro SS before they go away forever. -

I have written Pontiac/GM two emails, not letters with a stamp. I would never ever want them to waste 84 cents on a loyal Pontiac owner and longtime GM customer, would I? Why can't I write a letter? Don't I have the freedom to send a letter telling them why it is a mistake and why market share will slip to the imports, because GM killed "our" brand? Expressing a view point in this country is almost always welcomed, actually encouraged by some, when something happens people try to do something about it. At least that is how I was raised. I am just dumb-founded on a GM forum why I would get asked such a question about writing them a legit letter with my concerns. I didn't expect anyone to read it, but it made me feel better that I could at least give them fair warning of what is most likely going to happen. I also said it is a real shame when you have excellent product like the G8 and Solstice you have to "kill" them. -

Pontiac Dead Jalopnik ^Found this in this article on Jalopnik... Interesting or was it from the last time they pronounced Pontiac dead?^ I'll know more on Monday, I am praying they are just getting cut back to the G8 and Solstice and maybe a Coupe/Vert G6. Even if only as place holders in the market place if it ever picks up again it leaves the door open to GM to bring them back, with the products they deserve. Might be wishful thinking, but the announcement could be a drastic cut or change in the line-up. Here's to wishful thinking. In the mean time, I will pray and my second letter was sent off to Pontiac/GM Friday. -
You do great work, I hope my summer project landscaping with my son turns out 1/2 as good as what you do.

Exactly, and I am even taking my Bonneville in to have the fender re-painted and a dent popped out. That won't be cheap but it will be worth is to make it look right again. It happend this past week and need to fix it, but won't happen until June prolly. I just wish I knew how it happend.
-
Don't worry I am looking into it. The car is actually close enough that I can drive it before I buy it, and if it checks out okay with a mechanic and drives right. I will move on it. He has proof of all the repairs with OEM GM parts, so I can get a look at what needed to be replaced and actually happend. If it was mostly cosmetic then it should be okay. I know a number of people with rebuilt cars and they all drive well and have been happy. It is a case by case thing. At this price I owe it to myself to check it out.

Well I had a short chat and the he isn't ready to sell it, judging by his "firm pricing" nice guy tho. Got an 2002 GP 40th Anni about 150 miles from me, that was a rebuilder looks great with only 72K on it for 5300 only problem is its a sedan. Still I have put in a call and an email into the seller. Car was repaired with all new GM parts and has all the "extra" stuff that 40th edition models had. We'll see what happens with this one. It would be a hell of alot shorter drive to boot!

A very clean '73 Mustang Mach I fastback in blue with silver accents, factory mags and a heavily modded 351 for sale a block away for the in-laws house in a small town. (68 I think even you would approve, it was a 4spd!) Also across the street when I was visting was a 1969 Camaro Drop-top in Aqua Blue with rally wheels and white racing strips 396 SS and that was a 4spd. as well and sounded so sexy. It made me miss those cars, again.

Well if Pontiac dies I really do hope that Buick can stay around along with GMC. I know how much this sucks for a Pontiac man, and would never want to put a fellow GM fan through it with "their" brand. In the mean time, while I own two great Pontiac's I very well could be adding a 3rd, might as well seen as they won't be around for ever. Also my Bonneville has a an odd dent/paint chip on the front fender, time for her to go to the body shop. The point being I am going to keep my Pontiac's I have for a while and Bonneville prolly till I die or my son gets me to give it up. That 2001 GP SE looks even more appealing after hearing all this news. I do fear GM could very well be Cadillac and Chevrolet, and I hope then Chevy would have a great SS line-up WITH performance, and no-excuses cars IN EVERY segment. -

Well I feared this day would come. Now it has. -
Hell, no. If anything I will be adding another one to the fleet, like the '01 GP Coupe I have my eye on. Why would I want my cars to suffer? Especially my Pontiac's?
