https://www.cncda.org/wp-content/uploads/Cal-Covering-4Q-19.pdf Hybrid/electric vehicle market share in 2019: 13.2 percent BEVs have a 7.7% market share...but electrics as a whole...have a 13.2% market share. PLUG-IN hybrids...need to be plugged in... Luxury SUVs in California have an 11% market share. Luxury and Sports cars in California have that same 11%. Electrics, ALL of them...have high price tags in the LUXURY side of pricing. Any which way you slice it, the point of view I share regarding EV market share in California being pretty high is more accurate than a point of view stating its just OK... And even if its "just OK", EV sales, in California, are only going to go up.

Its in California... EVs are EVERYWHERE... I know we wanna bash EVs every PHOQUING chance we get, and I know we wanna spew the 1-2% of the market, but... in California, EV market share is pretty high... So...that is why the shiny red balloon his way. In other words...he deserves getting shyte on. He shouldnt get praised for his nonsense...

And the Audi had those pure track tires plus the V10. (Not the 1st entry R8...) The Porsche was the Carrera S with carbon ceramic brakes while the Corvette was just a Stingray Z51, with street tires. No carbon ceramic brakes. One tiny step above base. And no camber set for the track... Goes to show you how great the C8 is and how greater its gonna be(come) with future versions. My only question would be: is the Carrera S the equivalent of the Z51? I think the Carrera S is a tad more sports car focused than the Z51 but the Z51 is more GT focused... Not quite the same. But this is where Porsche shows how much more refined, defined and precise the 911 is over the Corvette. The 911 has many many iterations all designed for a specific task. The Corvette has only 3 to do the same thing as the 911 does with dozens of versions. I get it though. The Vette is a mass produced race machine designed to be sold at higher numbers with lower price tags. The 911 is meant to be a high enough produced race machine (not as high as the Vette) to have multiple versions to specialize in certain racing areas, to be personalized and to be sold with higher price tags because of the specialized and personalized nature. Each has carved out a nice niche for each other where they both have their perspective buyers and fan base. What Porsche does is incredible in how they achieve those performance figures (efficiency) and Corvette is also incredible because of how they achieve their performance figures...but you have the extra criteria of a selling price point. And yes, the Z06 will be a beast. Active aero is rumoured. THAT is gonna be huuuuge for the Corvette. No Corvette has had full on active aero. Pass through air, sure, but not full blown, 100% active aero.

I agree to that sentiment above 100%, about the interior and dashboard and all that. However, for me, the exterior is what counts more. I know when you are driving the vehicle, its the interior that you get to experience the most all those years with the car, but, when you are walking up to the car, its the exterior you are getting to see. That love at first sight feeling. The, I cant wait to drive the shyte out of you feeling... When you are washing the vehicle, its the exterior you are caressing and rubbing and soaping up and feeling the contours of... In other words, for me at least, she's got to look good on the outside. Beauty for a car, unlike for a human, beauty being skin deep is a good thing for me. And what I seek for when Im cruising for a new ride. Yes...a car's exterior has got to invoke that passion. I could live with a cup holder/button/gear selector/RPM gauge not being in the "optimal" position. I could learn to cope with it, to adjust. But if the vehicle Im spending my hard earned money is not exactly to my liking on the outside, then I aint buying it. The next criteria for me would be on its driving characteristics. Looks and driving characteristics easily 1 and 2. And they are both interchangeable. And third would be interior and interior ergonomics.

What if these cars had a racing series dedicated only to them? Like how the Porsche 944s, Camaros and Miatas had. Would that make a difference in ya'lls perception? Because, Porsche 944s and Miatas of their day werent all that fast...but were/are still revered by...um...car enthusiasts. Like...arent we car enthusiasts here? Because we all act like it but then we shyte on this car... I get that this is a Toyota, and I applaud and appreciate the shytting , but at heart, this car is a dedicated sports car through and through. Yes...with a torqueless 4 banger. Subaru should have offered their WRX engine in it while Toyota could have at least tried to shoehorn their BMW sourced inline 6 from their Supra for a hyper trim 86 negating the need to LS swap. But at the end of the day, the Toyobarus are purebred sportscars... And THAT is a good thing!

Am I the only one to actually like this car? OK...NOT the Toyota, the Subie. But that is just me being douchie against Toyota. There is a reason why I like this car: ITS A 2 DOOR SPORTS CAR IN AN ERA WHEN COUPES AND/OR SPORTS CARS ARE NON-EXISTENT. And THAT to me is more than enough reason to like this car. I do not know if you guys know that I HATE HATED the 5th gen Camaro. Well...I saw 3 today randomly. Almost back to back to back going to work. 2 6 cylinder models and 1 SS. The SS made some lovely V8 sounds as I heard it while driving in back of it ....and I felt something that I havent felt in a looooong time. I miss when 2 door coupes and sports cars were all over the damned place and not some mythical unicorn in a sea of CUVs. We should be thankful these exist...especially from appliance company #1 Toyota. And no worries, those folk who want a little more ooomph from their Toyobarus https://elementtuning.com/monster-86-subaru-brz-and-toyota-86-v8-conversion/

Im sorry. I thought I was being funny. I didnt mean to twist a knife into the heart... If its any consolation, the Bruins wont get past Tampa. And although I hate the Habs, I do want them to get #25 before any other Canadian team wins the Cup and that wont be happening either this year.
-
I LOVE the use of Blues too... by the Canucks (in a way the Bruins couldnt last year) wink wink

I just saw that. Very funny. Nice interior indeed. Yes, less like a prison I must admit.
-
I was just about to write that. But with a 1950s and 1960s angle. But you are 100% right. From the 1950s to the '60s to the '70s and well into the early '80s. I think it slowly got crappy in the 1980s when cheap gray plastics entered the fray. And then black was the go to colour choice.
-
I actually like that lime green. Of course those lime green touches have to be in a vehicle worthy of that kind of extrovertedness. A Mercedes AMG GT for example. Because we are talking about a Mercedes interior at this point in time...
-
THAT is as colourful as it gets... Small red trim on the door, yet the surrounding window and dash is still that awful black. Its got an option for carbon fibre or brushed alu/nickel on the steering wheel and on the glove box, etc... But its limited... Im NOT blasting ONLY Mercedes. But all manufacturers do NOT do the colour pallette like how the 1950s were. I think colour needs to come back to interiors in a BIG way.
-
That is still a drab looking interior... The black in that is lifeless. Am I supposed to feel special just because I got to spend a lot of (my) money on lime green edges and French stitching? The rest of that interior looks like a prison. Very depressing. Now...if the majority of that interior came with a little bit of colour. Like lets say, the window trim areas... If you take a looksie of where it says "Trim", the offerings are only black, white, gray and brown. Pretty phoquing basic to me. Doncha think the interior of the Mercedes would be more fun had the TRIMS been offered in that lime green as well? Yesterday, I was at my daughter's /mine softball game and a parent recently bought a 1956 Mercury Monterey. (6 months ago and yes he took me on a small ride around the block) Two tone blue and white. The interior matched the exterior. The interior had all kinds of baby bluish/electric blue accents on the door, dash, carpets, upholstery mixed in with white parts as well.... That Mercedes interior, DESPITE the LIMEGREEN seating bolsters and French stitching is very very drab and depressing. Like a prison... The car, like this The problem, in my honest opinion, is not only the lack of upholstery colour pallette, but of the ENTIRE interior as well. Too many trims are just that awful black plastic. I guess when the interior door trims were actually metal, it was EASIER and CHEAPER to just paint them the SAME exterior colour than with todays plastic and rubber interior trims. Much more expensive to have hues in plastics and rubber I guess.

chevrolet ev Info Updates on Chevrolet EV's
oldshurst442 replied to G. David Felt's topic in Chevrolet
EVs are... just are. The technology behind what makes EVs tick will just improve as time goes by. (I didnt say anything special, its just how it goes with technology.) EVs are... just are. As many people pushing forward with them, there are people that are against them and wish EVs gone... Will EVs survive the next decade? Will ICE survive the next decade? Socio-economic realities will dictate who wins this battle in the coming decade... What do manufacturers have to do not to alienate possible EV consumers? Like any other vehicle or product sold for the consumption of the mass public whether it be a car, a toaster or a tampon : Its all about the product itself. MARKETING 101 For an EV car: Its got to be desirable. Its got to be user friendly. In the US, many anti-EVers put a lot of hindering spikes to prevent EV infrastructure to happen....and all kinds of excuses are being disingenuously spewed... EVs...are just are. They already perform like ICE cars. Just a few tweaks here and there, small concessions to be made to be livable day to day. Nothing major really. If we are really honest about it... EVs are...just are. Different buying options are missing at this point in time. Its just Tesla really. And those have proven to be...quite awesome actually. But, they do have their faults. Not the tech. The tech is superior to anything else out there today. Its the car building are that Tesla lacks. Because the tech is sooooo much more advanced than their rivals, that their rivals dont stand a chance of selling right about now. But because Tesla car building is that much more behind than the conventional car builders, than those that arent comfy in buying an expensive transportation device will NOT spend the money buying an EV, either from Tesla or otherwise. Will there ever BE a tipping point for EVs? Time will tell. But, as GM and Porsche, and Ford, and all others and possibly Rivian and Lucid all come to produce EV tech on par (slighly less than Tesla or slightly better than Tesla) and as Tesla improves their tech, and as the others keep up, than EVs will get that fair chance to succeed in the coming decade. Socio-economic and political realities will dictate which way that will be. -
