  1. Yeah! So why are we complaing then? Ill take @Robert Hall post about the panels and GM not wanting to go the extra mile to differentiaite the Slade over the other 2 more at heart...because its true. But Im guessing GM is saying if it aint broke, dont fix it. And GM has the right to think that way since FoMoCo didnt really differentiate the Gator over the Excursion all that much either. And the Gator is the main competitor for the Slade... Until real competition heats up with the Germans...then the Slade will CONTINUE to BE what it has ALWAYS been!!!
  2. Im on the same page as you. The front doesnt bother me. The C Pillar trim DOES bother me. And yes...the 2021 'Slade is missing something. Its missing a certain trait that I cant put my finger on it, but overall, its a nice Escalade design.
  3. Ummmmm No! The Cayenne looks like the Toureg that looks like the Bentaya... The Bentley has taken a more portly and bloated approach...like how women were desired in the 17th and 18th centuries. But the profile remains the same We think in our minds that VW does it better...but they dont
  4. What if Cadillac designers wanted to do away with stacked/vertical headlights? Maybe it was for safety that this changed happened like it was mentioned before? It dont matter... Looks are subjective...and it does look like an XT6...and the XT6 is plain and boring looking Ill admit, but no more than what the segment offers...but on the Escalade, it works better, to my eyes at least. But...even that does not matter. The 2021 Escalade looks the part of a top dog, big and brutish luxury SUV. One that continues the Escalade lineage without missing a beat. Playing it safe a tad? Sure! But I didnt know that the Escalade had to change drastically to appease the fanbade... Or are we gonna take a page right out of Star Wars and cry "this is not the Cadillac Escalade that I know. This is NOT my Escalade!"
  5. Oh boy... I dont think its fair to hold the Escalade SWB or ESV to such scrutiny as to say it shares too much profile with its Chevy and GMC counterparts. I dont feel like posting pics but... As you could see...SUVs dont change in profile all that much. That there vehicle is a late '60s 'Burban. That there C Pillar is slanted. Yeah...like how the new gen is gonna be. Other later years its straight. It dont matter...overall this has been the shape of GM's fullsized BOF SUVs. And Ford's too. And strangely enough...Dodge's too... This is what Americans want. We change the formula, and we get the Last Jedi... All kinds of backlash. OK...since the Escalade is just part of a trio...why wouldnt it look the same as the other two? IT SHOULD SHARE THE SAME PROFILE!!! ALSO...the MARKET dictates that it SHOULD share the same profile as its siblings Lets be honest...BMW is fairly new to this big SUV game (X7). The X5 is also new and BMW went with a soft round look. The Navigator, Escalade, Hummer, Bronco, Excursion, Tahoe, Yukon, Suburban...all American SUVs...are boxes...and that is what is required as per what the market suggests. Mercedes Benz SUV icon, the military one...is a box... Therefore...we just bitchin' just for bitchin's sake. Funny..SUVs from FoMoCo are identical to one another...yet no bitchin' And what I was saying in that American SUVs adopt this shape And I thought I wasnt gonna post pics... PS: The Europeans take a different route...but I aint gonna post pics of those on the account that Im gonna sleep now and I dont want any nightmares... (Theyre ugly is what I saying) Or do you folk prefer that the Escalade becomes more rounded and bloated like a Merc GL/BMW X7 or worse...like a Tesla Model X but bigger. Or the unthinkable..like a Cybertruck... the equivalent of Luke milking that walrus space cow drinking that blue/green milk... Palpatine returning doesnt seem all that bad now...does it? PS: Ive enjoyed the sequal trilogy. Episode 8 the most.
  6. Right on both accounts!
  7. Ive read all the replies regarding this new Escalade. Ive come to a conclusion. Seems to me this new Escalade is a lot like the Star Wars Rise of Skywalker flick... Where it should have taken a certain other path, it decided to take a safe approach as to not destabilize the target marget too much and the changes that were made were not pleasing to another certain fanbase. Oh well...the movie surpassed the billion dollar mark and this new 'Slade will sell in great numbers regardless because the weak points of the older generations were improved greatly (interior) and it retained the elements that make an Escalade an Escalade. Just like in Rise of Skywalker. Boring and safe storyline...its still an undeniable Star Wars flick...
  8. This Escalade really doesnt look all that different from the outgoing one...on the outside The C Pillar on this one is chromed...and it has a slight up rising kink to it as opposed to body colour on the out-going model. The headlights are this new 'Slade are not stacked but horizontal. The interior on the out-going one is good to great. On this new one...it seems to be phoquing fantastic... The overall silhouette and shape stays the same. The grille is the same overall. So...just because it ditches the stacked headlights for horizontal ones and just because it has a slightly kinked and chromed C Pillar that Cadillac blew it? Okay...I guess...
  9. I like it. Like @Robert Hall said, the C Pillar does seem too busy but it dont bother me much. Love the front end. I have gotten over the stacked headlight look. I dont like the horizontal chrome piece that is just under the headlights that continue from the grill and I dont like the horizontal chrome piece that continues from the vertical LEDs...but that is about it. Love the interior. I dont like the blacked out chrome version. Hate it actually. I prefer if the bling bling on the C Pillar was slightly less prominent...maybe brushed nickel would work better for me...but over all, this new gen Escalade works for me and I think its a very good successor.
  10. You are missing a few paragraphs. About another couple a hundred words or so...
  11. Awesome T/A. Oh...the Trans Am is nice too. I almost didnt notice it in the back there.
  12. From that link: That is the last paragraph. In summary of course of what that 'journalist"...automotive jolurnalist wrote... that word I bolded up there...PROJECTED... Its flung around like soiled underwear. How many miles did this guy actually drive? NEVER YOU MIND WITH THE PROJECTED MILES... Every other Tesla Model S adventure drive Ive read...the "journalist" in question would actually detail the ACTUAL mileage in real life and actually compare the computer's PROJECTED mileage... This guy here...NONE of that is present in his Porsche paid ADVERTISEMENT of the Taycan... You want proof? Here: WTF does the EPA have to do with published times it gives and his "real world" driving WITHOUT A DIRECT comparison WITH a TESLA MODEL S? When driven prudently he says... ITS A PORSCHE SPORTS SEDAN FOR PHOQUE'S SAKE!!! I aint doubting that the Taycan CAN do what it did on this particular day...the thing is...what would Porsche's competitor have accomplished on the same day on the same trail... And push come to shove... Push the damned cars and be driven a tad more lively...to actually see how efficient they actually are... Yes...have a Tesla Model S and push both and actually see how the Taycan measures up... Because I have a feeling...a Nissan Leaf and Chevrolet Bolt could also replicate this "test" in the same less than aspiring driving romp.... No need to spend 2-3 times the $$$ for the un-impressive badge on the front... Because Tesla would probably the badge to get in this case to show off in... I hate this kind of bullshyte paid advertising journalism...I see it coming from very far away...
  13. And the lack of balance shafts. Not that a lack of balance shafts posed a problem, but automotive journalists crucified that motor for being buzzy and less refined and therefore technologically less "sophisticated" than its Japanese counterparts and then people started to pick up on that lingo that American engines are less engineered than Japanese ones. GM haterz love this argument. To this day... (Yes some Japanese motors could do beaucoup miles on them, but their transmissions often failed waaaaay before they were supposed to...yet nobody talks about that...) Talking about automotive journalism (journalism in general). That Jalopnik article about the 2004 Maybach and the classic Nissan Z car...is quite the bullshyte article. If I understood correctly, one is comparing a car...an old car...that has depreciated and now is ready for the junk yard had it not been such a high priced appliance car...because lets face the truth here...high priced chauffeured cars ARE appliance cars...once their purpose has come to an end...in the junkyard they go...to an old car that has had a following when it was new...and now it has reached classic status 30-40 years later. A Hemi 'Cuda convertible of about the same vintage year of that Nissan Z has been MORE valuable and MORE costly to buy than that Maybach IN 2004.... A PLYMOUTH versus a Maybach in 2004 and the PLYMOUTH was more expensive to buy than a Myabach... Its not an epiphany this... Its just shytty journalism...
  14. yeah. true. I just knew they were gone when they lost 3 in a row with 3 or 4 games remaining that I stayed away. I had recorded the last Eagles game and I kinda knew they'd lose that one too. I didnt watch it. I had intentions of watching it the following night, but curiosity got the better of me and watched the highlights and when I saw they lost that game. When a team loses control of its own destiny and is counting on the moon and the stars to line up for miracles to happen...you're done.
  15. I saw the SuperBowl in peace. My first day off in God knows how long. Except the CRTC (The Canadian version of the FCC) passed a law a couple of years ago...again...but this time more strict, that ANY feed, it dont matter if ther SuperBowl is broadcasted and viewed by an American channel, the Canadian channel will be simulcasted instead and the famous "SuperBowl" commercials will not be broadcasted on Canadian TV because of a lack of Canadian content. Not that I have ever watched the Superbowl for the commercials, I do watch the game for the game itself, but the commercials are part of the show... Anyway...I never liked the Niners in my life, but have loved seeing Montana to Rice and then Young to Rice...those were fun games back in the day. I have no affinity to the Chiefs. I am a Cowboys fan through and through....so when the Cowboys got eliminated 3-4 games left in the season, I kinda stopped watching football. I dont like Mahomes and I dont like Jimmy G either. I did not enjoy this game all that much. For all the reasons I stated above. Im sure it was an exciting game to watch for some, but not to me. With all that hype about Mahomes, I did not see greatness. I saw a young, good QB...that has some legs on him and that got him outta trouble, but that's it. With all that hype surrounding the Niners D, I did not see anything special in that either. Jimmy G has been hyped before also. But I did not see anything great there. A couple of rifled passes when they got a 20 poiint lead, a couple a "trademark" running game plays to end the first half or to start the 2nd half...I dont remember as that's how bored I was and that is it. Maybe Im peeved at the dumb assed Cowboys season this year and that is why Im bitter... Anyway... Idd just like to say that we did get a couple of commercials... I got to see 2 Hummer commercials. Boring. I saw the Hyundai Sonata "pahking the cah" commercial. Wicked smart cah... Seeing that Im a Boston Bruins guy and that Hyundai commercial featured the Standel'ls Dirty Water...a song that various Boston sports teams play after a win, including the Bruins, Ill post this to end the post. PS: MONTREAL is my home. OK...Ill play a Montreal song too. Stupid Habs wont make the playoffs again this year...Although Im happy about it, Im also sad.
  16. @surreal1272 Great ride you got there also. (I do prefer Casa's Caddy over yours though... ?) I dont think I congratulated you in anyway for your ride....but yeah. CONGRATS! Im also giving you props for your Ford Sync installation work you done. And great pics of your Flex you shared with us. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Im in a little jam at work...so Im gonna be less active for awhile. Maybe a week or two. Or three. But I will be popping in to read one or two posts. Maybe give a thumbs up or down here or there, but I wont be having time to chit chat.
  17. AWESOME!!! JUST...AWESOME!!!
  18. Gotta keep that tradition alive, man.
  19. RIP Kobe. Its even more tragic that his 13 year old daughter also had to go. This event truly saddened me tonight.
  20. CUV videos on top of this post and 1980s girley pop music in my head... Is this what my Friday nights look like in January of 2020?
  21. My inner 1980s teenage girl has been taunting me these past 3-4 days. Ive had this song in my head that long. Yes. Yes, its true. We might as well compliment it with this song....I saw a commercial for the movie on some channel yesterday. I say why fight it. Ill give in. Truth be told. I kinda like these songs. I love the sax in Hungry Eyes and I love the acapella in Make Me Lose Control. Reminds me of 1960s surf music. I guess that is what the whole purpose of the video is also. California Dreamin' with the hot bods and the hot rods and the sun and the beach. 1980s pop. Nothing like it!!!
  22. I quoted the wrong section... This is the part I wanted to quote you on... And no...Motor Trend did not cop out on anything... EVs are REALLY REALLY smooth. THAT is the point... THAT is what YOU misinterpreted... and un-ironically...they compare an EV ride to an ICE powered isolation luxury machine that costs more to buy than real estate in certain cases...
  23. Its only ugly because you dont like EVs... THAT would be a cop out on YOUR part... See what you did there? See what I did there? This is what I got from the article: EVs are not cost effective (for most people) just yet. (That would be a No shyte Sherlock moment actually...no need for a MT article to point that out) But...I also got "life is full of small inconveniences" and "capitalism lets us profit from it" regarding charge stations. And that one just compliments another video I saw yesterday. I also got that EV infrastructure and battery range has improved to the point that range anxiety (at least in California...and in Quebec) is literally a NON-ISSUE... What I got is...at least in California...and in Quebec... that an EV of at the very least a KONA EV, one could travel decent distances and not worry about being stranded and eaten by wolves because of desolation...as haterz like to tell their tales against EVs. Your blindness and hatred to EVs and you misread...and misinterpret. You could read into the 1.6 liter is rough and tough because transmission...but you omit that even comparing a 2.0 KONA..."The EV is almost continuously better to drive than the gas," Reynolds said. "Its silky acceleration and right-foot response are akin to a Rolls-Royce." And to boot, the EV is SLOWER than the 1.6 gas 0-60... You could hate on EVs, man....but at least when reading an article...please dont misinterpret the information given. Or at least try not to. Regardless of your feelings towards things you hate on.
  24. yup... taxes taxes taxes. (same government website as before) https://vehiculeselectriques.gouv.qc.ca/english/rabais/domicile/programme-remboursement-borne-recharge-domicile.asp Like I said...the Quebec government subsidizes certain amounts to businesses, home owners, property owners, fleet companies etc....everything that is EV related for Quebeckers to easily adapt to and adopt EVs. The citizens actually dont complain about that. We accept it and want to continue this way. We actually dont mind spending the 2.5 times the amount for EV school buses versus the diesel ones. Ive heard on Montreal news that some parents are demanding that the school boards switch over to EVs. Now...our government sometimes spend money left, right and center. Our government is known to be um....corrupt. But regarding EV school buses, our government is more along the thought processes of Balthy's way of thinking. We havent switched fully to EV public transportation buses and EV school buses because the government does want to properly amortize the fleets its got now. I know that Montreal has a few 100% EV buses going on, but most of its fleet is natural gas. School buses are diesels and Im not aware if we have EVs in our fleets just yet.
  25. Quebec lost ground in EV infrastructure to British Columbia, California and Washington. Due to the PQ (Parti Quebecois) Government that was elected as a minority government in 2012. The PQ cut all subsidies and EV investments in infrastructure and distanced themselves with the idea of a better economy with EVs. But in 2014...there was another election and the Liberals won and the government invested its energy (*pun intended) back in informing the citizens that EVs might be good for the Quebec people. But...not enough monies were invested for the infrastructure. Subsidies for EV purchases only. A new government was elected in 2018 (the CAQ...50% separatist values (kinda like the PQ party, but less radical), 25 % liberal values and 25%conservative values... but these guys actually do listen to the voice of the people...the pur sang Quebec people...the true blue Frenchies...and maybe not the English voices LOL) but where the Liberals left off with EVs, the CAQ goes even further. They actually inform the people of Quebec on how EVs benefit our economy. Monies are given to local businesses, homes, to establish an infrastructure. The CAQ government is working with Hydro-Quebec to not raise its prices, to give discounts to those who actually charge their EVs at home...to also encourage people to not be wasteful of electricity and so forth. Subsidies for the purchase of EVs has also been prolonged, and the rebates increased all for the purpose to get more EVs on Quebec roads. For green purposes but for Quebec's economy also. The people of Quebec are starting to see the benefits of EV ownership versus ICE on multiple levels.... We have discussed these benefits ad nauseam @ Cheersandgears...no need for me to revisit this. The Model 3 is everywhere in Montreal. The Model S too. The Model X not so much... But...the Kia Kona EV is also a very popular EV in Montreal. Tons of hybrids. From the Fusion Hybrid to the Chevy Volt to the different Toyotas that have the Toyota Hybrid Drive. The Nissan Leaf and the Chevy Bolt were once dominant in Montreal, but since the Model 3 has arrived and now wait times are no longer an issue for the Model 3, the Leaf and Bolt are not as popular. The Model 3 is just steamrolling along. The Federal government is offering up to 5000 and the Quebec government is offering another 8000. That figure was for EVs costing less than 75 000. But now, as of April 1st 2020, that 8000 max is for EVs costing less than 60 000 MSRP. A Model 3, with an MSRP of less than 60 000 (which was the standard price) could be potentially had for 47 000... And now...I think the standard price for the Model 3 in Canada IS 47 000... Well...we know that Elon likes to overcharge for some stuff...OK...but with rebates like in Quebec and in Canada...the Quebec rebate pays for the AWD and the Canada rebate pays for the mundane shyte that Elon charges for but other OEMs gives us for free...(yeah...its not as if GM or Ford or Honda dont force you into higher trim packages for the mundane shyte you want but are stuck in upgrading trim packages just to get that mundae shyte but now are forced to have other mundane shyte you really dont care for...) https://vehiculeselectriques.gouv.qc.ca/english/rabais/ve-neuf/programme-rabais-vehicule-neuf.asp
