Bigger is Better as GM Revives Hummer by GMC Electric Trucks

Those blues from the 1990s were awesome colours. And the darker blue for the M635csi. Something about the E46 that I hate. Probably my douchebag Greek friends more than anything else. I never liked the 7 Series. Always hated them. Iused to like the Bangle Butt one. For awhile. Now I hate that one too. The 8 Series? Im on the fence with that one. I have always been on the fence with that one. The V12 is something that I liked about it. The pop-up lights of course is always a winner in my books. But...I guess its because its a BMW that I never really took to it. The E39 and the E36 are hard NOT to like. Even for a hater like me. LOL The E39 is the perferct midsized car for the modern times. The E39 M5 is just THE perfect car in modern times. Hard not to like that. I love that V8 engine in it. But GM gave us a version that tops it in my books. The Chevy SS with a V8 that spoeaks to me. The E39 M5 is not a muscle car, but a European sports sedan. The Chevy SS and the Pontiac G8 GXP is that muscle car that I wanted the E39 M5 to be. The Charger is nice and all...but its missing something. Its missing what the Challenger has in spades. So we good with that. -

I also like the M2 or the M235. The E36 I like. Especially in M guise. I actually like the X6. My absolute favorite BMWs are the E39 5 Series. Especially in M guise. The Z8 of the same time period and the 1980s M635 csi. -

Those are OK. I still dont like 'em. But they do represent and own a piece of automotive history. So I respect that aspect. I do like some of those Bimmers myself though. And there are other Bimmers that I like that go against the grain of what is popular in the world of BMW. Like the first generation 1M. Many ironies with this. Many BMW "enthusiasts" hated this because...I dont know why. But these guys preferred the bloated M3 over this but THIS is the BMW that goes back to BMW's roots. And THAT is why I LOVE this BMW. Because I understood what this car represents. Another irony is that I never understood this love affair of the BMW and their "ultimate driving machine slogan" and I really never cared for it, but with the 1M, its like I got it, understood it and loved it and became an old school 2002 ti BMW freak because of it but all those Bimmer guys, that say they love BMW because BMWs really are the ultimate driving machines, well, they now go crazy for BMWs that really are not all that, and ignore the one and only BMW that truly is a fantastic machine to drive... -

Rolling coal asshats for me represent redneck doucheyness. Hummer machismo is the same with fullsized pick-up truck superiority to me when these guys drive like they own the road because they are heavier and bigger than the rest of us. Which is the same, in my eyes, as the fake, snootiness that some European luxury car owners exude. But in reality, none of that actually bothers me. Expect BMWs.... I HATE BMWs!!! Dont matter. Same image. -

You are forgetting the Highlander, the RAV4, The RX... You could conveniently ignore the CUVs, but those were still sold under the premise of being UTILITY Vehicles... Semantics with the FJ Cruiser and 4Runner getting better gas mileage. The FJ and 4Runner were still gaz guzzling pigs. What is good for the goose, is good for the gander. GM ALWAYS had a BIG stable of LARGE SUVs in their line-up going back DECADES. Toyota, I RECOGNIZE had a history of SUVs too. The FJ original was the Land Cruiser... was a reversed engineered Willys from right after the war. Toyota always had small pick-up trucks. I recognize that too. The 4Runner was an original SUV at the same time the baby Blazer and baby Jimmy from the early to mid 1980s. I get that. But GM ALWAYS had Fullsized Blazer, Jimmy, both nameplates GMC and Chevy Suburban. That would be 4. The full sized Land Cruiser made its debut in the 1980s.... But...semantics or not...hyperbolic numbers that I said.... MY point STILL stands. Like I said...'twas GM and Hummer that took the fall. NOBODY lambasted Toyota for their part in producing SUVs... -

Yes. Mercedes owners have that. Camaro and Mustang owners have that. Cadillac owners had that image too once upon a time ago. And the mother of all douchey images belongs to? -

Garbage interior yes. I dont disagree. I AGREE 100% (Ill insert the edited part of my previous quote here) (with an edited version of that as well to better discuss your post) Toyoter had MORE gas guzzling SUVs and CUVs in their stable than General Motors had...even with the Hummer brand... BMW, Mercedes, Porsche all whored themselves out with SUVs at this time too, but 'twas GM and Hummer that took the fall with these hypocritical, virtuous asshats... I do not think it bothered Hummer buyers and potential customers of Hummer that the interiors were garbage. The externals were great. The powertrains and the machismo looks is all that mattered. Hummer was actually loved by enthusiasts. Truck guys and gals along with sports car guys and gals. H2 Hideous? I will not argue. It was a very aggressive look. It worked for some many. It was a baby H1. Actually, people kinda DEMANDED for a scaled down version of the H1. Hence the H2 being what it was. And H3. Hummer was on its way to being a Jeep Wrangler competitor and I think Jeep would have suffered for it had Hummer been kept alive. Jeep would have taken it to the chin I think. When Hummer got nixed, that paved the way for the Wrangler to gain 2 more doors, eventually a bed and just become an immovable force in the automotive world. (As long as SUVs remain the go to for people haulers) I think Hummer would STILL do great today with gasoline engines if GM wanted to go the ICE path with Hummer. I think Hummer as EV is an uphill climb. Marketing better be good... Hummer still has that bad ass buzz about it. And something about electric motors (for me, for Hummer) diminishes that badassery... Like I said...marketing, the off road badassery, masculine toxicity looks BETTER be good with Hummer if GM wants the EV Hummer thing to succeed. -

In all fairness, it was only tainted with a certain type of snowflake, tree huggin', pot smokin', hippie millennial crowd that started the pious (Prius) movement not realizing, because they were and still are brain dead, to see that Toyoter had MORE gas guzzling SUVs and CUVs in their stable than General Motors had...even with the Hummer brand... BMW, Mercedes, Porsche all whored themselves out with SUVs at this time too, but 'twas GM and Hummer that took the fall with these hypocritical, virtuous asshats... Hummer was actually loved by enthusiasts. Truck guys and gals along with sports car guys and gals. I think Hummer would do great today with gasoline engines!!! I do not know how marketing will solve the electric issue with Hummer... Marketing better be good... -

And while Quebec's former plate was just a regular rectangle...it was the slogan that was special before it became political. LA BELLE PROVINCE is sooooooo much better than Je Me Souviens. THE BEAUTIFUL PROVINCE as opposed to I Remember. I do not know if other Provinces and States changed colours ever two years or so, but this is how Quebec's plates looked like during the muscle car era.

I dont travel far. I gas up EXACTLY like you. Every 2 weeks. Give or take a day or two. I have gotten lazy with that schedule so I fill-up to the brim almost spilling it and I drive it to the absolute end....almost empty. Yes...I know not good for the car when you do that. Oh well... Im sure the Acura is fine with 87... I know the Acura requires premium but I think the Acura's driver's manual states that 87 will not produce knocks but I also seem to remember reading that one has to put premium more often than 87...or something like that .. I put the "good stuff" in it all the time... Why take a chance? But then again, I drive it to empty more often than not also, so... Where is my logic? Here I am, making a federal case about premium versus regular and how many times/week equals what amount one pays extra and stuff and how I prefer NOT to pay for premium but I actually do and then I drive it to empty...just because... Reality is complex.... -

Yeah...twice a week is not far fetched. I said thrice a week is not far fetched either. Which is not. But...simple math. I know people, many people, that do gas up twice a week. To fill up, in your case, 30 days...would be 6 times. About. So its 60. I said 80 dollars. 60 dollars is still pricey per month for nothing... But...the premise was 10 bucks. And that 10 bucks is nothing. But it aint 10 bucks. And with my twice/week would be 20 bucks as opposed to your fill-up schedule. That would be 720 bucks more over the course of the year for you, but it would be 960 bucks to other people I know... Still...720 bucks, is a lot of coin. Even for people that have no cash flow problems to swallow just to give it to Big Oil just to fill-up their ride to go from point A to point B stuck in traffic or driving in slow in school zones just because their ride takes premium gasoline... In other words, there is no SAFE enthusiastic driving going on with that so called enthusiastic ride that takes premium gasoline... (Unless the daily driven ride is for your job/business then its a necessity more than anything else and no choice but to drive daily that vehicle) Ive had conversations in here regarding car depreciation and how people try to skimp and save. This conversation is no different. People value different things. People like to put their money in different areas. Which is cool. All is good. I aint preachin' my way is better. Alls Im sayin' is that: For me...I dont necessarily value a premium gasolined vehicle for daily driven purposes if I dont have to... To put this conversation in perspective. I put premium in my Acura. I used to put premium in my 2005 Impala SS. My previous ride. Im just viewing this in another angle that actually does not really represent me personally. -
Pierre Trudeau V Richard Nixon When the Prime Minister of Canada, Pierre Trudeau heard that President Richard Nixon had called him an "asshole", Trudeau responded, "I've been called worse things by better people" ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- and then there is this: https://www.thestar.com/news/world/2008/12/08/nixon_tapes_include_testy_trudeau_chat.html Ah yes....Nixon...

EXACTLY! But dont kid yourself. If electric power will be the fuel of the future, Big Evil Oil will just be replaced by Big Evil Darth Sidious Electric... Electric power companies will now control our transportation needs. They WILL increase the prices... Dont mind me...Im ranting again. Im bored immensely... -

That 10 bucks is per fill-up. As a one-time shot, 10 bucks is nothing, but if you are filling up two or three times a week (not unreasonable for some to fill-up 3 times a week) , that 10 bucks translates to (we will do twice a week) becomes 20 bucks. Per month that translates to 80 bucks... @ 80 bucks...THAT becomes quite pricey. I know I want to do other things with my money than give an extra 80 bucks to big oil... Keep in mind we are talking about a daily driven car...no need to have a premium gasolined daily driven car when a regular gasolined car can and does the same job. Which is getting from point A to Point B. Unless of course its a job and/or business related daily driven car. As a fun car to drive around, a premium gasolined car...well...that sounds like...fun. -

Why are we basing fuel costs with how big a gasoline tank is? A 26 gallon fuel tank wont make your truck spend more money on gasoline than a 24 gallon one. If it takes you 100 bucks per week for fuel (or 400 bucks per month) than it costs you 100 bucks per week for fuel (or 400 bucks per month) no matter how big your gas tank is... Having a smaller gasoline tank just makes you spend less per fill-up, but makes you visit the gas station more often. In the long run, having a smaller gas tank may cost you more gas as you may spend more fuel re-fueling IF your gas station that you go to more often than not is OUT of your way traveling unnecessarily if you had a bigger gas tan... (But then again...having a bigger gas tank may make you spend more fuel as additional weight also burns more fuel...) (But... ) And if it aint out of your way, you spend MORE time there as you stop more often...and that is just a perfect waste of time... plus if you are the type of person to always buy some sort of stupid trinket or lottery ticket or junk food at the gas station, then you are spending more money NEEDLESSLY... Just a rant...Im bored... -
I aint arguing that point either. You are correct with that too. I didnt catch what you were saying though. But yeah. I still like the Taycan's looks regardless. But today's car designs are stale no matter what company we are talking about. With maybe Hyundai and KIA as an exemption.
-
I aint gonna argue. You are right. I aint a Porsch-O-phile though. Im calling it as I sees it 'cause I know many folk dont and wont make that connection with Pontiacs from the 1940s with any GP but they do have that connection with the 911. Id say though that that styling started with the VW Beetle and the Chrysler Airflow. But Ill still stick to my guns and say that 'tis Porsche and its 911 and now Taycan that have taken the torch.
-
touché But still does not change the fact that that roofline defines Porsche-uh non-the-less.
-
To be fair... 1973 Porsche 911 RS (the design language and actual car, really, dates back to 1963...) And yes, the 2nd gen W-Body Grand Prix is a sexy design, but a Porshe-uh dude will tell you that 'tis Pontiac plagiarizing that design language. I like the Taycan's exterior. Its sexy. Tesla, as we could see, also uses that design language on both of their sedans. The Model 3 looks frumpy though as a longer vehicle benefits from that design better. The Panamera just butchers this styling trend so I aint gonna post it in fear of vomiting on my keyboard.... The Taycan looks good. Its fresher than both the Model S and the Panamera. Lets be honest about it!!! OK...Ill retract some of my post. The Taycan does not flow as smooth as the Grand Prix does. The Taycan's front wheel arches to that fender vent opening to the front doors seem awkward. The Grand Prix flows better. But towards the back, a tad less. The Model S, flows the best from front to back from the side view!!! So...Ill agree with Balthy, the Taycan DOES seem dated!!!
