  1. Cherish these moments Drew! There will come a time when these family members wont be around and those "boring" stories will cease to be told again... And then the details of these stories will soon fade away and lost forever. (If by what I think what you mean by stories is lovable family anecdotes and family history) (If maybe you mean dumb nonsensical ranting and crappy family feuding gossip, then I agree with your sentiment!!!)
  2. All of us have these biases but most of us cant handle acceptance of others! Some of us use semantics to justify our blindness... Some of us LOVE to point out fallacies in arguments but INCREDIBLY WILLFULLY IGNORE those fallacies in our own arguments while sitting on a high horse! I dont really hate on brands....only on fanboys...and on SEMANTIC driven discussions where blind loyalty or BLATANT HYPOCRISY is concerned. I was recently schooled by a member in here where I found a car to be good looking and he doesnt but he used MY argument against me, problem is....in the same thread, this person defended an out dated look on a new car while schooling me.... Irony...he used frowny faces to frown upon a car that I deemed to be good looking.... THAT made me HATE on CADILLAC just know just because THAT particular person defended the current Arts and Science theme on the CT6...because he himself is a fan of Cadillac! You see...I LIKE the LC500 And YES, predator face works well on that car... You may not like predator face on the SUVs and the big sedan....but JESUS EFFIN CHRIST!!!! CANT YOU LOOK PAST THAT and SEE THE BEAUTY in a car that DOES NOT CONFORM to the USUAL HO HUM!!!! ALL IN THE WHILE NOT SEEING A DATED LOOK AT A NEW EFFIN CAR THAT WAS and IS SUPPOSEDLY THE BEGINNING OF A NEW AGE AT CADILLAC JUST BECAUSE YOU YOURSELF IS A FANBOY FOR CADILLAC!!! THE CT6 might have outsold the BMW 7 SERIES 2:1....IT SHOULD HAVE OUTSOLD THE BMW 7 SERIES 5:1!!!! IRONY PART DEUX: WE FROWN UPON ME SAYING THE LC500 IS A GOOD LOOKING CAR WHILE TRYING TO USE MY WORDS AGAINST ME, YET CADILLAC USES AN OUTDATED LOOK TO SELL ITS BRAND NEW FLAGSHIP, YET JDN DOES NOT CALL IT A FLAGSHIP, AND JDN DOES NOT OFFER A COMPETITOR TO THE LC500, YET WE MAKE FROWNY FACES TRYING TO OUT-SEMANTIC SMK FOR HIS LOVE OF MERCEDES AND MY LOVE FOR THE LC500!!! THAT IS WHAT I FIND DEPLORABLE!!! The only brand that gets me all hot and bothered is BMW....only because my personal real life friends have put (in the past...like in the 1990s all the way to the mid-2000s) BMW on a undeserving high pedestal...and their attitude was much like what the Cadillac thread turned out! Yeah...and those friends of mine jumped off the BMW bandwagon and are sucking on Audi's teat know! I HATE the SEMANTICS and the DOUBLE STANDARDS!!! I dont hate on the cars themselves! I may not like what those cars represent though!
  3. Im gonna argue with you here. Balthy... This car...the LC500... It my not have what YOU find attractive, but that does not mean it don't look good. Beauty is skin deep. I will assume and say you like this car from Chryco... The Lexus is not far from having this style it its design... And why do you use Lego as your argument? To further demean the look of the LC500? Look at those fenders from the Mopar... Technically, if you wanna use Lego as an argument, technically, one could try to pry those fenders off with their bare hands and it would seem like they would come off and one could just go to a Lego bin and just pop in another fender...
  4. Hate is a very natural human emotion! I say embrace your hatred and your anger. Let it flow. Through you, over you, all around you! Dont ease up! Just accept and grow stronger! You hate Ford? I say GOOD FOR YOU!!! Ford fans = Jedi younglings @A Horse With No Name = Annakin Skywalker
  5. The LCF will arrive soon enough.. A 471 HP V8 is a good starting point... The LCF is predicted to have in and around 600 HP... The Lexus has 1 thing going for it... GREAT looks! You may not like predator face, but it works very well with this car. The BMW 6 Series coupe is gone and I dont think the 8 Series that will be replacing it will do any better. The 1st gen 8 Series was actually not to bad of a car with great looks but it failed in the market place... The Lexus LC500 will probably wont displace the M-B SL class coupe in sales, but please dont say that Lexus dont have the ballz! 1. The LC500 is actually a concept car that was put into production almost 100% intact from its concept form. 2. You asked for a hi-po version? Lexus will sell you one pretty soon!
  6. Exactly! I hate you and @surreal1272 and anybody else that lives in hot climates during North American winter season! Well, hate is a strong sentiment....we will go with envious! But I really dont mind Quebec winters. I still OK with them. As I grow older, my sentiments will probably change. I KNOW my feelings towards winter and snow will eventually change as I will age into my 60s...
  7. I dont understand the visibility is better on the fastback as opposed to the convertible. The convertible Mustang, if I owned one, would be pretty much driven in the summer months only and when the sun is out...because I want to take in the sounds, scenery and sun of my surroundings. Therefore the top will ALWAYS be down. I probably WONT be driving the convertible when it is raining, maybe on occasion, but all things that deal with top down driving is to be expected AND acccepted! Road noise included. But that is why one buys a convertible in the first place.... I understand, you would rather not deal with all that, but...to say that a convertible has LESS visibility than its fixed roof brethren is just...CRAZY!!! Comparing visibility with the top up you say? But a convertible car's life is mostly lived with the top down!!! Why else would you buy a convertible car then??? Therefore moot point and hence my confusion...
  8. In my alternate universe, my house would change for a double garage home rather than a single garage home and the garage would be deep. The overall square footage of my house would stay the same, just the garage would be a HUUUUUGE upgrade. Why? So I could have a summer car and store it in the garage in the winter! My budget for both of my cars would stay the same, 40 000-50 000 CDN, just split in two rather than one. I currently own a 2012 Acura TL SH-AWD with the tech package. Although I love the car, I lust for others but I really cant own them because they are not really Quebec winter cars and my single garage home only allows me to enjoy an all year round vehicle, hence the Acura... So....in an alternate double garage universe Id pick a up used 2015 Mustang convertible....ecoboost... Or a used 2015....Challenger R/T... And Id be driving a FWD 2013 Ford Fusion SE 1.6 liter or 2014 Ford Fusion 1.5 liter ecoboost as my DD and winter car... My wife currently drives a 2013 1.6 ecoboost. If she wants to keep her car, that is fine by me, I love her car that is why I want a Fusion myself. If she would not stand the thought of having 2 Fusions in the driveway, then she is free to choose whatever other car she wants! For the sake of being different, she does NOT want to spend more than 30 000 dollars CDN on her car, but she did like the Buick Encore, so we go with that for this thread.
  9. Screw you Frisky and your 100 000 dollar ceiling!!! (to those that dont know, Im usually rude to Frisky when it comes to his rules in his dream car garages! When Im not rude, I circumvent the rules...) I usually use the vulgarity when I WANT certain cars but I cant fit them in nor could I circumvent them in in any way possible!!! Case in point: Singer Porsches and Year One Bandit Trans Ams!!! BOTH are WELL OVER HIS STUPID 100 000 dollar rule! And he is "FRISKY" about it too!!! (yes pun intended!!!) Well excuse me for a few seconds while I throw another off air tantrum trying to figure out how in the hell Im gonna get a turn key restomodded pro-toured air cooled Turbo 930 look 911 and blocker Bandit LS7 roll barred '77 Trans Am in this garage... OK....so we finally start this with Factory Five's '33 Ford Roadster with a 5.0 Coyote V8 and 2015 Mustang independent suspension. This should be a car worth 40 000 or so even with all the upgrades from Factory Five. Im well below the 100 000 mark....HMMMMM maybe I could allocate the 60 000 that is short to the Year One Bandit Trans Am? (I wont circumvent, Ill play fair!!!) Hot Rod flames and the like. Candy paint job. You know, the classic hot rod look!!! Im in the mood for one of these things today - 1970 Cadillac Deville Convertible Im guessing its worth about 40 000 - 50 000. Deep candy apple red paint job, same wheels, leave the shiny chrome as is, upgrade the interior to make it look like the 100 000 dollars we are seeking. White leather interior. Upgrade to modern suspension and brakes but keep the original motor. Was it 472 cubic inches? Just work on the motor to make it reliable. If its not worth it, no need to go nuts on the engine, a 2015-2017 Escalade 6.2 L86 swap from a wrecked Escalade in which a cheating soccer mom trophy wife failed to do her stop sign because she was sexting her lover would do the trick. 420 HP and 460 ft-lbs is good enough....and If I do that, then all the transmission bits and power train stuff from the Escalade would be transferred to the Deville and with that...this car will now be approaching the 100 000 dollar mark. 1969 Hurst/Olds or 1970 Oldsmobile 442 W-30. If numbers matching, I continue to keep it that way, but I will drive on occasion just to hear the glorious 455 roar from time to time. If not numbers matching, a cloned 69 Hurst/Olds or '70 442 with the usual LS or LT swaps (naturally aspirated) with about 450 or more horsepower and AT LEAST 500 ft-lbs of torque will do. Resto-modded and pro-toured and all that entails without the price tag exceeding 100 000. It will have a more or less a hunkered down stance to handle the twisties with the proper suspension set-up to achieve this, but its primary vocation will be tire shredding, straight line acceleration muscle car fun! Ill do my own resto-mod pro-touring Trans Am...all the bits and pieces are available from Year One anyway. The interior does not need to be luxurious either...actually, Id prefer that the interior befits a Pontiac pony car...just screwed on a tad better than factory. Maybe a 1973, maybe a 1979. T-Tops for sure for a 1979. A '73 will be that fiery red. A '79 will be the traditional black and gold. The Firebird stays intact and VISIBLE, not like that ghost style shyte that Year One does on their official Bandit '77. And if both the '73 and '79 prove to be too expensive because too popular, then a 1975 or 1976 does the trick for me. And in this instance, Cragar SS mags are a must! The engine: Not too crazy...an LT1 swap straight from the Alpha Camaro, 455 HP and 455 ft-lbs of torque is plenty. Id make the Trans Am more of an all-arounder performer like the 1LE package V8 Alpha Camaro as opposed to the Oldsmobile which would be more of a tire shredding muscle car. Seeing that an air cooled Porsche 911 930 with Turbo look and applications with a quality build like Singer as an example is beyond attainable for this dream garage, Id go for an affordable sexy Italian that is probably just as fun to drive as that 911. 2017 Fiat 124 Abarth. Exactly like the pic. Ive got an American Roadster Hot Rod with V8 power at the beginning of this garage, we might as well end it with an Italian (Japanese really) roadster with 4 cylinders. Ill leave the car as is...ONLY if Fiat's engine satisfies me... If not, I might try to get its horsepower and torque ratings closer to 250/250 with a few tweaks here and there. I think that would be more to my liking. If I cant do that, maybe I perform an engine swap from a wrecked 2.0T Camaro or ATS...if that does NOT upset the Abarth's weight balance...there are sooooo many ifs with this that I might as well just leave well enough alone and just enjoy her as is!!!
  10. Or snort a line of ants! He is just a DREAMER, this AsianPersuasion dude is!!! Maybe he is making a joke, but it aint funny that is why I will sigh and YOU will laugh and HE will cry...
  11. Ill do the Dream Garage on Thursday. I had to assist my son's baseball game tonight. Im assisting my daughter's softball game tomorrow night. Im gonna be the Skipper at my son's baseball game Wednesday as the coach wont be there. Instaed of dreaming up Ferrari Dream Garages, Ill be dreaming up ideal batting orders and player positions the next little while.
  12. When I read your post about it being Model 3 territory, I told myself I dont care if my 2012 TL hasnt been amortized fully, THIS is MY next ride! I was a tad disappointed to read that this was going to be a 100 000 dollar plus vehicle. LOL This Fisker dude, he designs some nice rides! BMW Z8, to the Karma to the Aston Martin DB9 and V8 Vantage... And then I told myself, screw Musk, Fisker is my hero! So, yeah, if this is all that Fisker says it will be, Tesla better be careful... The Model S is not scheduled for a new platform or at the very least, a significant overhaul. When the original Model S owners get fed up of looking at their dated ride, they will upgrade to this one. Other potential owners will just buy this ride as it looks awesome...and its NEW!!! The Model S sales figures will be dead BEFORE BMW and Mercedes and Porsche and Audi and others will have launched their EVs by 2021... The Model 3 will be the sole product that they will be sellling in this time frame? It looks frumpy and since this new Fisker will probably be the next 100 000 dollar car phenom, Tesla might not have that prestige branding therefore the Model 3 wont be that sought after since big brother Model S wont be as lustful...therefore Model 3 sales might also take a hit in the year 2021... Competition...its a bitch sometimes...
  13. I HATE THE GALLARDO. Something about it makes me say NO!!!! I never did like the 360 Modena and even less the F430. I feel the F430 is too boyracer lookin' and not sexy enough for a Ferrari. Sure the Testarossa was also boyracer, but it was a product of the 80s after all. And it was sleaker and sexier than the F430 will ever be. At least that is how I see things. With that being said. Id be somewhat of a big douche bag wearing these and driving my F430 Id make the boyracer style work for me!!!
  14. As per the article, it is the Model S rival, not the Model 3. Either way though, it is a much much much nicer design than either the Model S or the Model 3. If this goes on sale, the Model S will take a nose dive to oblivion! Musk better be ready to offer at the very least a very very very significant refresh to his Model S if not a new model...
  15. There you go!!! You a real deal car guy!!! My definition of a real deal car guy is: 1. A guy that works on his cars or restores them and the like 2. A guy that tracks or races his cars 3. Does both of the above. Yeah....YOUR angle makes a lot of sense. Like @A Horse With No Name suggested, a used Miata or even a new one is EΧΑCTLY tailored for your needs. Or a C5/C6 Corvette if V8 power is what you crave. Or a used Porsche Caymen if something in between is better for your style or a Toyobaru... And I see that my angle is also relevant because as you stated, a Mazda 6 IS a fun daily driver!!!
  16. This is why I LOVED 1995-1999 Buick Riviera! No picture captures the boat tail silhouette that this generation Riviera had because the WHOLE car was a boat tail silhouette. It was stunning to me. It still is actually!
  17. All this to say though that the 1971-1972 Buick Riviera did it better! Well...I think its better!!! Many highfalutin snobs might not think so. The price tag and the badge throws them off...its what they want to see more than anything else I suppose!
  18. ME TOO!!! This is my favorite thing about it. That wood is just CRAZY awesome!!! It reminds me of that speed boat from Indiana Jones III Which I think was the inspiration of this Rolls Royce anyhow!!! The wood and the silhouette. I LOVE THIS ANGLE TOO!!!
  19. It is NOT this car's mission to be a high horsepower car although some want it that way. OK...granted, the name of the game is to roll these off the shelf as much as possible so Toyota and Subaru might as well just give the damned consumer what it wants!!! It is not as if this a super low production niche car. It is a niche car but it wasnt meant to be low production... The so-called problem with this car aint even the horsepower rating...its a decent amount @ 205 horsepower. It really is the torque figures: 156 lb-ft @ 6400 rpm. Even my ecoboosted 1.6 liter Fusion that is meant more for "fuel economy" has a higher torque rating at a lower RPM!!! Id say even the Hyundai Genesis' coupe Turbo 4 cylinder rating of 275 HP and 275 Torques is what people want... A 250HP/250 torque rating for the Toyobaru might seem a tad low since the Mustang Ecoboost is 310HP/320 Torque and the Camaro is 275HP/295 Torque. But 275/275 seems like a nice compromise since also the criteria for this car is not supposed to be a tire shredding pony car either! Needless to say, I like this car a lot! But in this realm of sports cars, Id take in order Tied for 1st place 1. a) For style and sexiness in that EΧACT colour scheme....maybe with a Cadillac ATS 2.0T swap!!! 1. b) Yes in YELLOW! Or convertible
  20. That is why I love the muscle car genre. Family car benefits to haul families and their crap. Affordable price if we stick to the original brand offerings in Chevy, Pontiac, Dodge and Plymouth. And if I was to splurge a tad because of financial success, then an Olds 442 or Buick GS or even a modern Chrysler 300 SRT8 or 2017 Chevy SS does the job for me...no need for high roller cars for me...although today's world, the CTS V or AMG style car seems to be the only way to have my cake and eat it too with the V8 thing! Daily driving needs and fun all-the-time persona (my personal style off fun) with me driving the car 24/7/365 without the need for a "week-end" car is with a muscle car. The best I could have done in 2012 when I bought my car was the 2012 Acura TL SH-AWD. The SH-AWD part is NOT because of winter in Quebec but because of the 300 or so NATURALLY ASPIRATED V6 horses under the hood! The FWD part is because of the Quebec winters, and the only way I got the 300 or so naturally aspirated horses was with the SH-AWD trim and configuration.
  21. Well, to be honest, Honda just replicated what GM and Ford gone done with the Malibu and Fusion with the 1.5 liter 4 cylinder turbos and the dropping of the V6...although Ford gone offerin' a V6 again... But yeah, marketing fluff is right, but following market trends is what Honda is doing. Maybe the V6 take rate started waning? Maybe Honda Motor Company wants to distance the Honda Accord with the Acura TLX even further by eliminating the V6 offering in the Accord so the TLΧ could reign supreme in Honda Motor Company's midsized car offerings?
  22. An observation from a different point of view is what Im about to do... And Im not telling you what you should do or even suggesting what you should do...just discussing and having a....discussion...from a different angle... What kind of "something cheap and economical as daily driver" are you thinking about? Because if its something really cheap and mundane, like something of this nature Driving daily as much as you do which is 100 miles each day and around 30k miles a year...wouldnt it be in your daily driving pleasure's interest if your daily driver WAS a more or less a fun week-end warrior type car (AFFORDABLE) in the first place? A VW Golf R type car comes to mind... Or a GTi.... It dont have to be the Audi S3....that is just stupid.... Or even a Subaru WRΧ type car..not even the STi...just the WRΧ Οr if you are into higher displacement vehicles with more girth to them, there is a Challenger or Charger R/T... What Im saying is that, if you are doing all that mileage, you might as well have your week-end fun during your WORK WEEK BYPASSING a second vehicle. Unless of course you are the real deal car enthusiast and you track and race your cars.
  23. If it werent for the electric motor and rechargeable battery revolution up ahead...I would wonder how long before we would reach a peak with downsized 4 cylinder turbos replacing V6s before engine displacements would ultimately get bigger again with V6s making a comeback in mid-sized sedans like how this trend was in the 1980s and how things changed in the 1990s? As we all know...horsepower and torque DOES sell cars!!! (There was a hippie movement in the 1970s well into the 1980s to kill horsepower and speed...and yet in 2017...THESE ARE REALLY the GOOD 'OLE TIMES for HORSEPOWER, SPEED and PERFORMANCE!!!) The last time took a decade give or take... Like I said, EVs are part of this equation now, but instantaneous torque is what these motors are known for, and V8s have gobs of that...so...if the electric car wont be the dominant force like Silicon Valley suggest...I STILL wonder how long this trend of downsizing will continue? Yes, I Know...EPA numbers have to be in check... Torque in EVs still rule and V8s rule....and TTV6s also have gobs of torque... My question still stands....how long before we see a reversal of higher displacement engine offerings again?
  24. You forgot Ford... (Check out the license plate!) I feel sad though, as I love a 6 cylinder power plant. I must agree with Casa though. Turbo 4s are quite good in replacing 6 cylinder cars in MOST applications. Not all applications though. Just like TTV6s cant replace all V8s either!
