  1. I see the G8 as a Grand Prix. Speaking of which, I saw a G8 today. Just the V6. Red. It looked gooooooood. Not too many of themm left in my neck of the woods.
  2. For the record, again, I dont feel like that is a "G6". Just because Pontiac decided to go alphanumerics on us... For myself, and you too I guess, a G6 is NOT a G6 but a Grand Am. So...all this talk...is for nada. We are back to square one!
  3. Ahem... That is not a Grand Am That is more like a... Like a G6. Like a G6. Like a GGGGGG6. That is a fly Pontiac G6. For the record...I HATE this song and Im not particularly enamored with a Gulfstream G6. Im more of a homeboy and prefer the Bombardier Challenger jets!
  4. The representative that said that is a piece of shyte!!! LYING TWO-FACED BASTARD!!! http://news3lv.com/news/local/driverless-shuttle-crashes-on-first-day-of-service-in-downtown-las-vegas In that link there is a video where a passenger explains what really happened... The pod had advanced when the truck was ALREADY backing up... Its a BIG ASSED 18 wheeler!!! The driver is BACKING UP an 18 wheeler!!! THINK ABOUT THAT A@@H0LE when you say to ME that had the 18 wheeler had sensors it would have stopped!!! The pod did NOT do what it was supposed to do...it advanced to far forward for the 18 wheeler driver to see what was going on...it did NOT recognize an 18 wheeler backing up... It did not HEAR the beep beep beep sounds of a truck backing up... And it did not reverse to get the phoque out of the way... 18 wheelers when baccking up back up...SLOWLY!!! The passengers said that THEY KNEW what was coming but the pod does not even have the ability to back up???!!! The driver was even cited... Yeah...I see a law suit happening and that driverless pod program in Las Vegas being shut down instead!!!
  5. Each thought in that post requires a +1. A Thank-you +1 for me as you are not condescending towards me as Ocnblu was...although he was joking around with me on that...I hope) And a +1 because you are right! It IS all about the negotiation.
  6. I just got a couple of them back, I think?! Its like demerit points on my drivers license....Im eagerly awaiting for time to elapse. LOL!
  7. About the flames out the rear pipes... I dont like that option...not one bit! I dont think its a good idea. Yeah! That option makes for a bad situation me thinks! In my lowly and humble opinion...
  8. I ran out of +1s to give in this thread. I dont have any to give since last night. MANY deserving posters and posts. So a shout out will have to do instead! @surreal1272 @ccap41 @dfelt @Cmicasa the Great @A Horse With No Name @Anthony Fongaro @Cubical-aka-Moltar
  9. I dont think age has anything to do with it. You like what you like. You are comfortable in driving in whatever car you want. Anecdote: PROLOGUE: I too...ALWAYS loved a big car. I knew this too, at the age of 5 years old. OK...there is a difference in eras between Drew and I. I was 5 years old in 1978. Fullsizers were downsized by then, but were still big and the older fullsized cars were still on the road. It was easier for someone to prefer the fullsized cars versus the absolute dinky-ness of Honda CVCCs and Chevy Chevettes back then. But...I NEVER preferred Corvettes over Trans Ams (bigger and taller car than the Vette and the Trans Am always MY #1 choice for sports cars) and I knew that midsized muscle like a GTO was my bag, baby. CHAPTER ONE: (where the anecdote really starts) In highschool (starting in the fall of 1986 if I remember correctly), us boys, would talk about cars... All the boys, as usual, would mention Ferraris (Magnum PI's Ferrari and the F40 and the 512TT) and Lamborghinis (Countach) and Porsche (911 and 959) and Vettes. I would have NONE of those...my friends would ask me what is MY favorite when I would say no way to those! I would say...these: "LIMOUSINES???!!!" They'd question. "Yes! LIMOUSINES!!!" Id answer. "You could only fit one blonde in a Ferrari. I could fit an endless amount of them in my limo!" There is NOTHING old fogey about preferring bigger cars, now is there? ( a limo is a big damned car that doesnt really driveall that fast or corners all too well...something like whippersnappers prefer, right?) Later on as the years went by...in about 1994...I was 21...I saw this scene in a movie...and I thought to myself...SCREW LIMOS...A BUS IS THE WAY TO GO!!!
  10. I am naive to this. I know why a house is condemned when flooding has occurred. But why does a car get condemned? Same reasons? Electrics (wiring and the fuse box and radio, etc.) coudnt just get replaced? Mold issues in the carpeting and seats? Couldnt those just be replaced?? A house gets rebuilt... I guess insurances just outright total the flood damaged car as the repairs are too great versus the value of the car. But that is the thing...why are the flood damaged cars allowed to be resold to the public and not destroyed? Houses get condemned and HAVE to be TORN DOWN when there is a severe mold problem due to water damage...yet cars are kinda totaled yet are able to be resold? I just dont get it.
  11. You know what is even cuter? The Green Police condemned it...by VW's own Audi division...which unbeknownst to them at the time...incriminated themselves too at the same time...
  12. Yes....I was hesitant to put that in there. I realize that as well. To be honest...even spark plugs arent an issue anymore either. But still...the main thing is that EVs are SUPPOSEDLY LESS hassle to maintain than ICE cars.
  13. That would be in YOUR tiny corner of the world...where evolution stands still...
  14. Oh....my dear... Comprehension is not your forte... I just answered your question... And then I went on to say.... You did not get the point where we are making fun of your thought processes...
  15. I am just happy with this information. Mildly enthused if you will. Dont get me wrong...its a Corvette variant that I will surely love. But for me...the real anticipation is for this Vette: Cue the song intro As with the next episode in the saga
  16. The roles with their playas has been reversed from 1999... The Navi was king in 1999 and the 'Slade was the awkward new kid in town... Did not take long for the new kid to become king rendering the former champ awkward... Fastfoward in 2018...the former champ is looking to dethrone the current champ restoring its rightful place to sit on the throne that was his originally. Irony at its best. I LOVE IT!!!
  17. Nope....I second Drew. Read again all posts... And...to answer this question YES! I do believe that! No 5000 or 7000 or even 10 000 mile oil change intervals to think about... No oil filters either. No low level fluids of any kind to worry about including a huge worry of engine coolant loss...which also has another worry in old hoses that need changing. No timing belts (or chains...didnt the Northstar have a problem with its chains too?) or spark plugs to think about... No mufflers and muffler plumbing to change after 7-8 years of ownership and having all those catalytic converter related things like the converter itself and sensors go bad... The only inconvenience is where to charge up on a trip requiring a longer range than 150 miles or so? If I lived in Boston...I think I could reach Vermont...(as I live in Montreal and I think in METRIC and US destinations and cities are not what I know...) I live in Montreal...QUEBEC CITY OR OTTAWA is EASILY MADE on 1 CHARGE with a BOLT...and then back home on another 30 minute charge time... Yeah...no worries there...
  18. WOW! Glad you were OK. Seeing that the Veedub, in your eyes, is no longer a flawless piece of mastery, and you seem to never be tied down to any vehicle, then that Audi should be something you should be looking at. It aint far off to what the GTI is in performance and driving characteristics.
  19. I dont know... But that is a yucky thought... And I was a voyeur once upon a time ago...when I was young and horny and stupid and I did not think about things like human fluids possibly being tainted with a disease of some sort...
  20. Ive said that before... With UBER... Rental car agencies CLEAN their cars BEFORE handing the keys to the next client... The busses remain disgusting all day and get cleaned up at night...and that is with a SMALL subset of users... How will UBER type companies deal with shyte when EVERYBODY will be using these pods? How many more spare pods will they have for replacing the dirty ones...the ones that JUST broke-down due to a flat tire or computer malfunction, etc? AINT GONNA HAPPEN!!!
  21. We are on the same page... Again..the way Lutz explains it...UBER type companies will be in control... Will THEY be performing repair and overhaul duties as scheduled? In the airplane world...laws are put into place to ENSURE repair and overhaul schedules are respected...and even then...some aircraft are flown questionably...a lot less in North America and Europe as compared to some 3rd world Airline fliers...but it happens here too... Lest not forget that in the airplane industry...its VERY CLOSELY MONITORED... In the trucking industry...where I think will closely resemble how things will REALLY work with the autonomous thingy..much is left to be desired...
  22. When a car has an issue of some sort...how many hours does it sit in the garage decommissioned before it gets repaired? How long is it gonna take this bus to get back to work? How long before this plane flies the peeps around again? Remember...repair and overhaul for these autonomous pods will be crucial to OUR safety...these are gonna be machines...driven DAILY with hundreds of miles on them NON-STOP DAILY...accumulating HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS OF MILES WEEKLY BECAUSE WHOLE POPULATIONS (so the saying goes) WILL BE USING THEM BECAUSE NO OTHER CHOICES... And I suppose these centers wont be needed any more...for lubrication or systems check-ups and repairs and the like...
  23. All those are closed circuits. Even airplanes flying freely into the vast sky... Aircraft are flown with a very precise mapping system where the sky is a grid and computers use calculated vectors to get to their PRE-DETERMINED destination THAT WAS PRE-DETERMINED A LOOOOONG TIME AGO. Driving from point A to B is MOST of the time pre-determined too...but...humans also like to do things on a whim...driving to point C and D and F and then Z back to point C and THEN to Point B is a calculation that will NEVER be calculated fast enough because humans CHANGE THEIR MINDS INSTANTLY!!! Throw in Mother Nature and well...autonomous driving in an OPEN circuit is an IMPOSSIBILITY no matter HOW much smarter A.I.will be than humans as HUMANS CHANGE THEIR MINDS ON A WHIM AND CHANGE THEIR PLANS...NOW!!! Silicon Valley forgets that humans has this trait called....FREE WILL. THAT is what defines us...
  24. Its easy...right? Farming machines are being tested to be autonomous as we speak... The snow plows and trucks to get the snow and ice off the streets will ALSO be autonomous ALONGSIDE the autonomous cars, right? IN A SNOW STORM...what happens? All kinds of problems with THAT scenario that I dont have the energy to state... When roads freeze up WITHOUT any kind of storm...what happens then? Does the guvment call off ALL the pods OFF the road to de-ice ALL the streets? Because...mother nature is a lot more powerful than anybody I know...so...how does the economic body that will control autonomous cars will cope with NOBODY being driven meaning NO MONIES ARE BEING MADE... The way LUTZ describes this future...UBER type companies will control this... Will UBER type companies allow for no profits being made? If they do allow the peeps to move around...THERE WILL BE ACCIDENTS...HOW BIG WILL THE LAWSUITS BE? WILL PEOPLE ACCEPT BEING SHUT DOWN AND NOT BE DRIVEN? Yeah...UTOPIA!!! Yup! And like I ranted...when you throw snow and ice and extreme weather into the mix... Artificial intelligence or not...its still a machine...and machines break down MORE OFTEN than humans do...
