  1. Well...I went to the Montreal Auto Show today. They had the new MKZ on display, on a pedestal. People could not get close to it, but admire it from afar. I must say, the new face is very attractive. It out-Jaguars Jaguar in my opinion. Very similar look, but I think the MKZ pulls that look better. At least from the front because from the back....YIKES! What Im trying to say is that the front end looks very classy. Now, I think the front end of the Continental will be that much more majestic than the MKZ. So, I could now at least imagine what journalists keep on saying that the Continental has presence. Based on looks alone, I think the Continental has nothing to worry about. People will admire it. And THAT is a HUGE step forward for Lincoln.
  2. Phew.... I thought maybe Ed was a long lost uncle or something, or worse, a family member being a victim... I dont know too much of the real story. Other than what one would normally find on the internet...wikipedia type information. I saw the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre sometime in the early 1980s on Beta. I rented the 2000s remake on DVD. I decided to google the movie sometime after I saw the remake...because the ending scared the bejesus out of me....the part where the officer enters the home and the narrator states that this is the only real footage of leatherface ever to be caught on camera...I had to really know if that was true... Yes I know, sometimes I could be gullible. Anyhoo, this is a thread about music...so let the music play... Another early to mid 1980s song I remember quite fondly.
  3. @ Balthazar Well, I know that pic of yours is of Ed Gein. And I know that is his farmhouse. And I also know that the movie was inspired by him. So...I thought that you might be a fan of the movie The Texas Chainsaw Massacre...original form the 1970s and the modern 2000s one. So...I thought I was being clever in what I posted, because I do find that particular song eerie in which I thought I was funny in making a connection with your avatar pic. Personal? As in you are somehow connected personally to that farmhouse? If you dont feel like answering that question, Ill understand, I mean, I wont know why and how, but I wont press my luck any further type deal.
  4. That is some very eerie stuff. The kind of music Id be listening to on that front porch right there Firin' up the 'ol chainsaw for some cuttin' of some sorts...
  5. This post was edited by me...and the song is directed towards me.. I got to know when to hold them, when to fold them, when to walk away and especially when to run... I know how to play the game...but in this game is when I keep my mouth shut!
  6. Yeah, I read it. Like you said. He worked hard on it. Very cool build indeed. I found his hard work entertaining in the fun irony of things in that the 4rth gen F-Body Camaro was canceled and was kinda replaced by the SSr...with a 5.3 liter V8 under the hood initially...and he took a 5.3 liter V8..from a Tahoe...and shoved it under the hood of the Camaro. Very cool indeed... But I did not catch the 6.0 part...Ill reread the thread again.
  7. Rene died...sorry Celine. Mes condoléances.
  8. 327 Camaro, anybody? This one is for Olds! I had to quote you to make sure you saw it. lol. http://www.bobistheoilguy.com/forums/ubbthreads.php/topics/3773462/1 In all seriousness, this guy put a lot of time and energy into this build and it's awesome. And yet..I still missed it!!! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w-YqaTDDCDM Yes Ray Charles...meaning IM BLIND!!!
  9. Italians and racketeering... Somehow, those go together like bread and butter. Somehow, you cant have one without the other.
  10. Stop the nonsense with the Azera taillights, guys... Some of you are hellbent to find problems with the Continental. The Continental taillights do NOT look like Azera headlights... Not in the least.... Why? Just because there is a similar feature that runs across the trunk? CMON GUYS!!! Its funny you see Azera, yet I see an evolution of this: Which in fact, that Mark VIII taillight treatment is in all new Lincoln products... and technically, the Continental wears its taillights flipped around from that MKC... So...cut it out with the nonsense... The Continental actually looks almost like the concept...the spy shots screwed up the visuals....but in production form, it surprisingly comes close to the concept.. Maybe the wheelbase has been compromised...I know one thing, I CANT WAIT TO SEE IT IN PERSON... In my honest opinion...Concept to Concept, the Continental looks 1000 times better than the Buick Avenir, and the Continental made it to production...so THAT SHOULD be a plus! I dont like the door handles though...I did not know how to describe them until a poster in this thread called them toilet paper fixtures...and BINGO! PERFECT description...
  11. Does anybody else HATE semantic driven arguments? So "several" means more than two...Hyper should have said "a couple of" instead of "several" Stew...it doesnt change the fact that Chryco was balied out in the late 1970s and with that money Chryco.'s Iacocca green lit the engineering of the K-Cars and the minivan that used the same underpinnings of said K Cars...which in turn saved Chryco which led them to be wildly successful in the 1990s. Yet, after the "merger of equals", Chryco. was back in the same predicament they were ion the 1970s... Hence the message that Hyper wanted to use as an example. Read the message Stew, the rest is irrelavant.
  12. Rest In Peace Mr. Bowie. Those are probably my top 3 favorite songs from Mr. Bowie. Great Artist and Performer. You will be missed!
  13. Actually Frisky...MY BAD! I took a wrong turn on an image I had clicked when I was searching for it...I dont know what I was looking at now that you mentioned it!!! After reading your post, I clicked on MT's webpage to see it there better... And Ill retract what I said... I LOVE THIS THING!!! The only negative thing I could think of...is that it came out in 2016...4 years later...but its still stunning!
  14. The LF-LC was mentioned....but alas, this is NOT the LF-LC I fell in love with. Sure it has some little details that remind us this is the production version of the LF-LC... Im afraid its the usual case with concepts and reality....too little, too late. Still a good looking car though, but I dont lust for it the way I did for the LF-LC back in 2012.
  15. I did not see the hit. Im off of the NFL until the Superbowl comes along. And NO, it aint because of the commercials... I HAVE ALWAYS WATCHED THE SUPERBOWL FOR THE GAME!!! Besides, the commercials have been shyte the last decade or so! Anyhoo, I wish I could have seen the hit (I know, I know. I could see it...internet is our good friend...my bestest friend IS youtube afterall... ) What I wanted to say is that Im glad that the NHL so far this season has been clean. Nothing scandalous with how the players have bodychecked each other...so far that is... That is of course nothing scandalous happened during the time I took off from watching the NHL too...Im not aware of anything... Yeah..CCAP...I quit on our Dallas Cowboys early...I usually dont do that, but I couldnt stomach it this year. The Bruins were also crap, so I couldnt bare BOTH of my teams losing. PS: Not that I have high hopes for the Bruins either. Im suprised that they win as much as they do...
  16. I had to think long and hard....not about this Buick..I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS THING! For posting in here... Anyhoo, life continues and I understand reasons. This thing is GREAT. This makes the ATS coupe (and it dont matter if V Series is included) OBSOLETE! This makes ANY BMW coupe in 2 and 4 Series trim OBSOLETE! The Audi A5, which was a beauty itself, has made the A5 look like an average joe. Yes Casa, how does Cadillac top this???!!! Well...this is definitely a good thing for Cadillac as good 'ol fashioned INTERNAL competition is a good thing! Just as how it was in the "good 'ol days". Both brands could feed off each other. As for naming this car goes. 1. I DON'T want Grand National or GN or GNX or GS or GSX...the Avista is PONY CAR sized, not MIDSIZED muscle 2. This is NOT a Riviera. Someone else pointed out that a Riviera was a PERSONAL LUXURY COUPE....that suggests a BIGGER car. 3. I dont even want Wildcat, although Wildcat might fot this car perfectly. Why I dont want Wildcat? Because Buick has revived itself quite successfully in North America with new nameplates. Enclave, Verano, Encore are all new names that enjoy HUUUUGE success. Lacrosse is a luke warm success as Lacrosse debuted during the "old GM" era. So has Enclave, but the Enclave was part of the "new GM" before going bankrupt while the Lacrosse was a W-Body... Regal...not quite successful... So...I see a pattern. An old name glorifying the past may not be the answer. A new name BLASTING TOWARDS the FUTURE making a FUTURE legend in my opinion is the way to go. Wildcat was a GREAT car...back in the 1960s...I think its time for Buick to recreate a new legend. With the exception of Riviera...the name Riviera should be kept...because the name also oozes cool and ritziness and...European...notice how Verano also has an air of Euroness to it?... Come to think of it, Avenir is a French word for future... I dont like the name Avista though.
  17. No. You need something. You want something. Its your gosh darned right to choose what you want. Lamba SUV, like a Saturn Outlook. 2006, 2007, 2008... Then there is the Saturn LS Station Wagon from the early 2000s.
  18. Honey and warm milk, Suave.
  19. OK...my first post was a humorous one because I dont fare too well with advice like this...but a 1990s GM B-Body wagon? Buick Roadmaster or Caprice station wagon? If you could find one in good condition that has not been drag raced to death. Too old? What about a used first gen 2010 Ford Transit Connect?
  20. An ESCALADE is UNTOUCHABLE in the realm of cachet, and NO AMOUNT OF BMW X6M HORSEPOWER comes close to that Cadillac in cachet... Like I said... Porsche, M-B, Cadillac, Bentley, Rolls Royce, Land Rover, Jaguar and others HAVE A SAY HOW SUVs WILL be MARKETED... And the X6M will BE LOST in that whirlwind of SUV madness... BMW was the one to DICTATE what is a LUXURY SPORT SEDAN...but with SUVs...BMW is NO WHERE NEAR the BENCH MARK!!!
  21. Yes, but Frisky... Catering to the enthusiast is WHAT BMW IS ALL ABOUT!!! Right now, they are catering to the everyday Average Joe... Like I keep on saying...in the not so distant future...BMW will be an also-ran. Like I said...Porsche and M-B and Cadillac and Bentley and Jaguar and Rolls Royce and Buick and Lincoln and Genesis and Toyota/Lexus will ALL be selling SUVs...mojo induced SUVs. The BMW X6 aint out Porsching Porsche...the X6 is just SAVing the BMW lingo...the Acura ZDX copied and failed...nobody else is answering that question...and it does look like BMW has carved out a nice little niche for itself there....but like I said...the X6 is NOT enough to carry a brand through... And the X5 did carve out this SAV niche, but tis the X6 that is carrying the flame, the X5 has becoming a soccer mom car. No different than a boring Lexus RX...and...the X5 has lost itself with the countless of other so called luxury SUVs out there from the various other SUV peddlers. And to boot...the Grand Cherokee from Jeep and its SRT version is the enthusiast SUV people lust for more so than an X5M... Like I said...BMW is fast becoming irrelevant with the folk that make brands legendary in nature...and that is THE ENTHUSIAST...all for FAST MONEY... BMW is falling in a pitfall...and I DO understand the business aspect of it...but it is a pitfall non the less that has at least some consequence to it... Porsche is still putting fire and emotion to their car that represents them the most...the 911. Remember Frisky, that Porsche is dialing down the tech, the power, the weight, the AWD in at least one trim of the 911 because they realized that they have muddled the identity of it...and a REAL MANUAL TRANSMISSION WILL ALSO BE STANDARD... So...BMW if they dont act fast, they will do damage to that image they have....and that is all Im saying.
  22. Another used car shopping endeavor? Howza 'bout a Mitsubishi Endeavor for your used car endeavor? If I were you, Id leave it up to these nonsensical coincidences of life and buy that Mitsu.... to fulfill your endeavor with an Endeavor. But if your budget permits, Id go for this Endeavor instead. This way, you could actually take a trip and visit Vader's tombstone and really fulfill your destiny...with Kylo Ren. And since you are good with your hands, maybe you could tinker with it and make it do the kessel run in 11 parsecs beating the Falcon.
  23. So I guess...its a good thing for BMW to have their original bread and butter car...the 3 Series...lose ground to the X3... And...today...the 3 Series aint even the 3 Series...its the 2 Series...but even that model is not carrying the flame of BMW's mantra, the Ultimate Driving Machine, the very essence and rasion d'etre of BMW. Frisky...please... BMW's bread and butter was the 3 Series. BMW's soul..was the 3 Series. It was and still is (the past generation 3 Series cars) a CULT CLASSIC. The 3 Series is the stuff that legends are made of. Its what propelled BMW into a luxury giant. In 2015/2016, its soccer mom vehicles. MAINSTREAM soccer mom vehicles that drive the image If you dont think that will be a detriment in the not so distant future, I cant help you. It's not necessarily a good or bad thing. It's bad for their image, and I don't like it. But it's good for their profit margins and that's why businesses exist. The 3 Series has grown in size, like all cars. It has gotten a bit too soft, especially in base form, and I hold that against BMW. It appears they took measures to at least partially rectify this with the F30 LCI. And knock it all you wan't but at least BMW still offers a proper manual across the board, along with numerous other options and accessories for enthusiasts. As for the 2 Series, I have no idea why BMW hasn't used that platform to capitalize on the recent explosion of entry level luxury vehicles. It'd be the only proper RWD sedan in the game, after all. But that's neither here nor there. BMW has seen sales drop in their core models mostly on account of competition within BMW's own lineup with SUV's. It sucks, but that's what the market is shifting towards. But it should be neither surprising, nor a criticism to be levied. I share ALL of your feelings in this post, Frisky. With one exception. The last sentence: "But it should be neither surprising, nor a criticism to be levied." It is NOT a surprise...its a sound business judgement to go the SUV route...THAT is where the money is. However, it SHOULD be a criticism when BMW has apparently took their eye off the ball. Using YOUR OWN observations: - The 3 Series has grown in size, like all cars. - As for the 2 Series, I have no idea why BMW hasn't used that platform to capitalize on the recent explosion of entry level luxury vehicles. It'd be the only proper RWD sedan in the game, after all. But that's neither here nor there. Ill repeat Frisky, in the not-so-distant future, if BMW does NOT rectify and offer cars that have stuff that legends are made of...then BMW will just be another run of the mill SUV company. A BMW X6M just does NOT pass muster. Especially since Porsche and M-B and Cadillac all have their say in how luxury SUVs are to be marketed. NOT to mention Jaguar and Bentley and Rolls Royce...and NOT forgetting the SUV and CUV pioneers in GMC and Jeep and Toyota/Lexus. And new commers in Buick, Lincoln and quite possibly Genesis. In the 1980s and 1990s...it was BMW that DICTATED to the world what a sport coupe and sedan is and how it should be.
