  1. So Casa, did you figure out how to post vids yet? Just in case you missed both of my messages. You just copy and paste the Youtube URL and drop it in the quote box...its embeds it automatically. Easy as pie. Nice shots of the Camaro. I cant believe how I went to hating the gen 5 with, a PASSION I might add to actually loving this 6 gen. I wanted to just kill it with fire , this 5th gen....now Im back as a Chevy guy again with the 6th gen....its weird how that worked out.
  2. I feel the Olds love from you guys. Ive found an internet home in these forums... Id probably choose the Regal over the Alero also...as a used car...3.8 liter V6...great engine... However...if we compare W-Bodies though...the Intrigue kicks Regal butt. @Drew Nice Toronado...Im assuming its in excellent condition. Cool emoticon...hey...its a Cutlass Supreme...I also loved that W-Body.
  3. What I was about to say was all but covered... I am neutral to a Cruze SS...because its hard for certain parts of America to choose a FWD pocket rocket over a RWD pony car. And now that a Camaro would be getting a turbo 4 cylinder of its own...it really is hard for GM to make a business case for it...especially when even the established brands of these "tuner" cars are not full steam ahead with them. Save for VW....sure Ford too. But here in Quebec, I think a Cruze SS, badge engineered to a tee from the Astra OPC in Europe would sell like hot cakes. The Verano sells in Quebec quite well...the Cruze also...Honda Civics are everywhere and the old Integras and RSXs as well...the VW GTI is a very good seller so is the Audi A3....just to gauge interest in a Cruze SS...and based on that...in my opinion...I think Quebec would be a GREAT market for a Cruze SS....especially since gas prices are very European like...unlike a place like Texas for instance...and that is why in Texas...huge pick-up trucks are king...and not in Quebec...where we are the small car capital of North America...because of said high gas prices...hell, even in Mexico, they drive bigger vehicles than Quebeckers drive...
  4. Yup...about the Cruze SS....and the kicker...Gm has got one it Europe all ready to go...via Opel , however...there is a thread today about GM's business case for something like this...Ill chiume in later in the afternoon for that chat as I cant continue now...flipping burgers is what I gotta do...see you folk later.
  5. Yup Casa, that would be another reason why I wouldnt need 700 HP...because you cant use it on the street...even if the street is empty...law enforcement is awaiting for you to give you a massive ticket...
  6. The thing is though...that spoof sales tactic...well..Cal used it... The thing is though...that cheesy Chavy salesmen sell Cadillacs... The thing is though...walk into a Porsche dealership...and you dont have that. The thing is though...walk even into a BMW deaship....and you dont have that... Yes...in 2015...a GM store is still full of cheese... Picture below...Cadillac is in the middle of that store...yet you have to walk by 4 Chevys...4 BLUE COLLAR Chevy sports cars... Picture below... Cadillac is on the right...with a cheesy Chevy style look... And Chevy sports car when you walk into dealership...and you walk into a Chevy discount store...before you walk into luxury? Yeah...that helps out with Cadillac being a top tier 1 luxury car maker... Picture below... This picture drives home the message You have the base cheap Chevy pick-up truck...with ugly black bumpers and plastic black grille greeting you on the way to buy yourself a very expensive car... Listen dude..if you cant see that the picture below could restore some luxury perception of Cadillac and help roll out more Cadillacs in the process...I cant help you... Look at BMW And this Cadillac dealership... Major difference from the pics above.... Plus... This is the lifestyle you want to sell...and you can do that in the stand alone dealership Look at the luxury Not this... Yeah I know...Older pic...but I gotta go to work to find a more recent pic...however...some dealerships have Cadillacs in between Chevys...Ive seen pics...recent pics... Think about that for awhile..and think about what it is to buy a dream....a luxury dream....not a "deal"...at a discount store...full of chessy salesmen lookin to sell a "deal" and not a "dream"...
  7. Acura has a stand alone dealership... If you cant tell that from my post...sorry...but I think the message was clear...maybe you got sidetracked...becasue Acura... Well...Acura...it DESTROYED Cadillac in the 1990s... Who cares if that spot of Ralph did not air...I am a Canuck... The thing is...cheesey sales tactics of Chevy showrooms is what is selling Cadillacs right now... If you cant see that...well, thank the lord its Johan in charge of Cadillac and not you...BTW...Johan did mention that some deaerships will be going the stand alone way...and more to come as the years go by... PS: Laugh at Acura...because the tone you gave me was that Acura is not a good way for Cadillac to learn how to sell luxury... Acura's problem is not with how they selll, but what they sell... Cadillac's problem is not exactly what they sell, as their current crop is fantastic...some improvements need to be made... But its HOW they sell them... Lack of marketing...and part of that marketing is the stores themselves... Kisten..I posted this message quite a bit. I dont want to sound like a broken record... Its just an opinion...take it or leave it. I know one thing...you wont convince me otherwise...
  8. I agree with his Preuninger's assessment that 700-800bhp calls for bigger brakes, sturdier suspension..it does gets heavier and heavier... My ideal muscle car...because I prefer muscle cars rather than sports cars like a Porsche 911... would be making 300 minimum-400 maximum horsepower ...torque would be in the same range. no need for more really...but here is the kicker... I wont want any large LCD screens...no need for wi-fi connections...no need for back-up cameras and every little elecronic nanny. Blind spot alert and all that jazz...just a modern suspension set-up for cruising and for taking turns...nothing too soft...nothing too hard...but no electronic suspension set-ups that lets you choose...none of that crap...a just a plain ol'radio...with 4 speakers...and a USB port though...because I cant go back to CDs...or worse yet...cassettes...the only electronic nanny I welcome are ABS brakes amnd a mild traction control system so it could save my ass from monumental mistakes...but like I said...300-400 HP and torque...aint that much to begin with...and the weight...because muscle car...the size of a Challenger...a tad bigger...maybe max weight 3500/3600 lbs... With out any luxury features...and electronic crap....I think that is possible...maybe the mandatory safety stuff like au=irbags might hinder that... OK...I think its time for me to sleep as I am just speaking in circles...
  9. Product? maybe a lack of it. Marketing? maybe a lack of it. Lack of a strong dealership network? Possibly an independant stand alone dealership network? Definitely. Speaks volumes when Johan is telling and EXPLAINING to its Cadillac dealership network that there should be NO cash back incentives and that they should brace for WORSE times ahead....and it speaks volumes that some of these dealerships cant comprehend that...and it speaks volumes that some of these dealerships dont have the patience to go forward with that thinking...and want results...NOW...with cheesy cash back solutions..to get volume back... Volume will come...when the luxury buyer feels the need for Cadillacs...when the perception is their...like when you arrived to an event in a Cadillac...it meant you had...arrived... Again...in 2015...actually...when the Japanese started peddling luxury cars in the late 1980s...is when the stand alone luxury dealership took precedence...must we continue to think that the Japanese dont make luxury cars? Lexus sure will disagree. Hell...even Acura might want to argue that...OK...they have faltered...Acura that is...but...Acura does seem to have a strong stand alone deaership network...its their dull product offerings that are not so luxurious...but they seem to sell a boatload of MDXs though...
  10. Yeah...Super, It probably will be a great little car. But its a big yuck for me in the looks department. I much prefer the new gen Volt. (I think I will do blue colour for my posts....just to stand out...you know...its not as if Im an extrovert or anything...)
  11. Yeah...most luxury car sales ARE illusions...that is why they usually arent sales...but leases. That is why I dont view a 3/4 Series BMW as a 'luxury' car...because in Europe...for so ,ong...the 3 Series was an econobox...in the 1980s...the base 3 Series Bimmer was on a level BELOW Cavaliers...everybody gave crap to GM/Cadillac for the Cimarron...but with the same marketing...BMW is regarded as a top flight luxury car maker... Listen...a luxury car is about...luxury... Luxury...well...it dont come cheap... Luxury means you have to fork over the dough. That means....no incentives...(hidden incentives as to not upset the luxury mindset) Because this: and this from Cal...yeah..even a Canuck from Quebec has heard of Cal... wont work anymore... Cadillac needs to get away from this...and some Chevy/Buick/GMC stores are exactly like this...still today...in 2015... but I maybe wrong...maybe Cadillac does not need to become like a boutique car company...same ole, same ole cheesy American land yachts is what they should continue peddling with carsalesmen smoking their cheap cigarillos hanging from the side of their mouths begging for customers to buy a Fleetwood with 5-6-7 thousand dollars off the hood because...well "because its you, baby"
  12. BMW X7 fullsize? With rumored V12? Sounds like that they mean business. It could pose a problem for Cadillac. Cadillac has got to get their brand cachet rolling... As far as the female buying power and this Jag SUV...good point....I failed to see that. But, as far as I know, women like their X3s. They also like their M-Bs...and....their Escalades. Where I live...in Montreal...gas prices are high...so Escalades are kinda rare now-a-days...but I see plenty of them with some sexy soccer moms driving them. Actually, most that I see are women driven. So...either a Jag SUV will be a hit with the women, or they will continue on with the status quo. But point very well taken.
  13. About the luxury car buying experience... You wanna bet that they dont look at that? Besides...luxury car buying AINT about the "deal". Sure...everybody looks for a deal, everybody WANTS a deal. But the luxury car buying public also want their butts to be kissed. You aint gonna get that with the 20 year car salesman with squeezing every commission dime out of the customer, and the back and forth useless haggling game...with the fake talks to the "manager"... A stand alone dealership is much more than Italian marble floors and Picasso paintings on the wall... Its also about expert carsalesmen, yes, with the same 20 year experience, but with a customer frst attitude. Complimentary lattes is a plus. Italian marble flooring is another plus. And I dont want to quote directly as to not single out anybody...because Im still new here, and enemies I dont want to make...however...to the poster who said that if he will NEVER walk into an expensive dealership because he knows no deals will be had...well that is the thing...Cadillac does not need this type of customer...that is the type of customer Cadillac had from the late 1970s up until today...THAT is the image and customer that Cadillac needs to walk away from...scratch that...run like hell away from... Just drop the Yuotube link in the regular quote box...it embeds it automatically. Easy as pie. What I said...and this.
  14. Cadillac definitely needs 1 or 2 crossovers. But really, is that the most important thing for perception? Either at Jag or at Cadillac? I dont think Jag will improve on its sales with this thing. Its ugly. OK...the bMW X1 and X3 are ugly too. The X6 is kinda cool. I hate it...but its cool lookin', but BMW sells well in the crossover segment because their cars primarily have cachet. Jag does not have ANY cachet. They are WORSE off than Cadillac is. At least Cadillac has the Escalade. Speaking of which...its the Escalade that BMW wants...they have the Escalade mojo in the X6...but in no way does an X6 steal any Escalade thunder. At least the ATS-V has BMW worried in the performance cred if not in the sales department...but then again...BMW still sells 3 Series BImmers in Europe like econoboxes...they way they did back in the 70s and 80s...heck...in the 90s too. Back to the Jag SUV... I dont think this SUV will help Jag sell more vehicles...and I think this is the main point to this crossover. I think the XE and new XF will sell in nice enough numbers all within the merits of the cars themselves...I dont think this SUV is what will draw in the people to the dealerships. I think the XE and the XF will sell this SUV... "Oh...Jag makes an SUV...honey...our daughter will need a good SUV to keep her safe...when its time...maybe we will give this a try...OK...about the XF"
  15. Thanx. It was a GLS. Black with Beige leather seats... Limo tints in the back and 3/4 windows and legal the front 2 windows... It was a beautiful car. It still is a nice car...the Alero aged well. The only thing I was less entused about was that stupid pushrod 3.4 liter V6. Not the pushrod part. The fact that GM forced Oldsmobile to use that 3.4 "value" engine. It was a great engine when new. But it became a dog later. I wish the Alero was offered with that sweet Shortstar...the Alero would have been a rocket...and a REAL competitor to the foreign makes that GM was tooting for Oldsmobile in 1996 or 1997... Its nice to see Buick pick up where Oldsmobile left off though. But I aint a Buick guy. Im an Olds guy...
  16. Im a little late to this party...but it is an interesting topic. Ive read most of all posts in this thread, some of it I agree with...and obviously, some of it I dont. I'll just give my two cents of why Johan should be left alone to do his thing. First of all, he just got there. Second of all, product development BEFORE he got there just hit the showroom...aka new gen CTS, ATS and soon CT6. He made adjustments to the CT6. He ressurected and green lit dead projects due to the bankruptcy. The naming scheme can be discussed further if flop or success, but it is too early for that...however, his naming scheme has lots of logic to it. All this Audi talk about him...well, Audi is reaping the benefits from his leadership as we speak. Infiniti? That would be on Nissan or Renault or both...not on Johan... OK...here is my two cents on why it will get worse before it will get better...using Johan's words. STAND ALONE Cadillac dealerships....Cadillac needs those. Forget the value buyers....Cadillac SHOULD NOT be chasing those guys. Therefore prices should remain where they are...if not higher than they are...however...a REAL luxury stand alone dealership is necessary to impress the "former" BMW, Mercedes, Lexus buyers. Perception is part of Cadillac's problem...I agree...that is why price maybe a factor...because potential buyers dont view Cadillac as top tier 1 just yet...but part of that perception problem could be rectified with....stand alone deaerships. 1. Unique buying experience...especially compared to a regular GM store. 2. Cadillac could re-invent the dealership experience...to gain some luxury points too. 3. Cadillac needs EXPERT salespeople that KNOW the Cadillac...from engine to software to what kind of cow was used for the leather...and they need this type of salesperson to identify key buyer wants and needs...the LUXURY buyer that is... 4. A REAL stand alone LUXURY dealership also becomes a more personalized buying experience...with all the froo froo brown nosing techniques that luxury buyers EXPECT... 5. This applies at the service department as well....ESPECIALLY at the service department...How can a pampered stuck up luxury buyer feel rich and important when joe blow has his Cruze serviced at the same bloody dealership?
  17. My name speaks volumes about my love affair with Oldsmobiles. I owned a 1985 Oldsmobile Delta 88. I bought it used in the mid-1990s. It was a beater but oh...what I wonderful time I had with it. I bought a brand new 1999 Olds Alero. I dont have it anymore. I dont miss it all that much today...but I do miss the Alero's profile and silhouette. It reminded me of my utmost favorite car of all time...a 1969 or 1970 Oldsmobile Cutlass. Hurst Olds for a 1969 Cutlass and a 442 for a 1970 Cutlass. Here is my Alero.
  18. No need to say anything...usually...we have similar thoughts and ideas. This here is no different. I am a smallish guy..at 5'6 1/2 " tall, I fit comfortably in just about anything. I usually find the perfect driving position almost immediately in any vehicle. Even huge Ford F-350s.
  19. I saw my first Chevy Colorado live in the wild yesrterday.... My My...it is a strikingly good looking truck. I saw it at the auto show...it looked huge...but in the wild...it looked like a perfect sized pick-up truck for the avergae joe that needs to haul around stuff. Im not a truck guy...so my opinion of this shall remain neutral and void of any criticism or praise. When I posted my remark on this...I did not see your post. My thoughts exactly.
  20. Is it really necessary to have 6 way power seats? 8 way? Unlimited? I get it...we should be comfortable when we drive...but even with a so called cheap 4 way...surely we could find a reasonably comfortable driving seating position... OMG...first world problems.... Not too rag on you...I dont know you well enough to rag on you...I just want to show you where I stand on non-issues...
  21. The Camaro isn't really in competition with the 4-series, someone before posted about the Camaro being an M4 killer. I am not a BMW fan boy, but I wouldn't under estimate the M3/M4. But again they aren't really in competition, one is a luxury car, one is not. Yeah I am constantly perplexed why people cross-compare these cars when they are not cross-shopped. I love GM. I love Chevy and Cadillac, but I have no desire or delusions that a Camaro would be cross shopped with a BMW, Cadillac, Benz, or Lexus. I do, however, believe that the Camaro will perform as well as many of the similar HP/Handling cars from those makers. Why?? Its a Pony car for the 21st century. It has technology that blurs the lines between it and the perceived luxury car.. but so does my Impala.. so doe the Cruze, or Sonic. I am not talking about the Camaro being cross shopped against the BMW...4 Series or otherwise.... I am talking about pure performance criteria. I am talking about driving feel. I am talking about driving dynamics. I am talking about handling...you know...Bimmers are known to have this magical formula that puts the driver in a daze of driving extasy... Well...because the Cadillac ATS has shown to out-BMW iat BMW's own game, logically, the Camaro shouts as well. And, because the Alpha plaform Camaro is closer to what a BMW 2 door 3 Series coupe was all about in the 1980s....I find this comparo more pleasing then the ATS comparo versus a BMW 4 Series. Again...Camaro Turbo 4 versus base 4 Series BMW...
  22. Im also excited with the turbo 4... Almost giddy about it. Knowing that it will be light on its feet...Im mostly curious to see how it fairs with BMWs...the base turbo 4 Camaro against a base 4 Series Bimmer... Chevy/GM is really taking it to the Germans and BMW...with the Camaro and Cadillac... Here is me being giddy about it... Yeah...like a little girl...but I assure you folk of Cheers and Gears....Im a most manly of men...the manliest...
  23. Yeah...I made it. Im getting used to the lay out. I even double posted by accident. At least it was from my own doing... Hey look...no software shenanigans... Dont worry Casa...I will find a way...by myslef. Practice...I think I succeded... Tough luck Casa... II wonder if there is a direct youtube link in here? Dont worry...Ill figure it out.
  24. When the 5th Gen Camaro turned up in renderings...BEFORE the cartoon movie came out...I was like WOW! But then I just fell outta love with that Camaro...thanx in part to the movie...I was more in love with the ragedy 1977 Camaro than the brand new POS...partly because sellout...partly because the performance numbers were less than satisfactory. It has been for the longest time for me...like you... 1. Challenger 2. Mustang 3. Kevin Morgan Trans Am....and I did not like that one either because I KNEW it was a clunky Camaro underneath...sure... REAL Trans Ams were always Camaros underneath...but Pontiac never the less...400 cubic inches.. 4............ In 2014 though...I respect the performnce cred of the Camaro...ZL-1 and Z/28... But...the 6th generation Camaro...Im slowly falling in love with it. Because the performance cred promises to blow EVERYTHING outta the water...including German muscle...ESPECIALLY that BMW M4...I cant wait to see the numbers...in all categories...I bet it will SHAME a BMW M4 at its own game... Also...because Chevy smoothed out the clumsy lines of the 5th gen...my order is now... 1. Challenger/Camaro 2...ONLY the Mustang GT350......Ford could kiss my butt for ALWAYS pushing ecoboost...
