I saw a Volvo Polestar today! I didn't have time to snag a picture but it was black and I saw the sweet wheels and the blue Polestar square in the grille. How rare are THESE?!?! It looked just like this one.

OMG I didn't know that. I actually feel way better about that knowing it isn't just my eyes thinking the car sits higher than it actually does. I mean it still looks funny but at least it isn't a mind game. Do you know what kind of height difference they have?

XTS is the only thing in the Cadillac lineup that looks out of place to me. Everything else looks great and then there's this blob that shows no character to me... It also gives an impression that it sits higher off the ground than it does which looks awkward to me.

Always Always ALWAYS keep up on tire pressures and please, for the love of god... don't use the maximum tire pressure on the sidewall of the tire.

Sales: Sales Figure Ticker: November 2016

+1 +1 +1 +1 +1 to everything you posted. And throw the ZL1 in with the Shelby and Hellcat and I'd easily take that as well. I'd likely take a Chevy SS over a Charger Hellcat too.- 18 replies

1: Good for you, seriously. I loved my two sets of Continentals. I put DWS's on my C350 when I had it and loved them! Currently finishing up my ContiProContacts that are OEM on my Escape. They're a good tire. Not very good in snow, the car tends to push really bad at some pretty low speeds so I just have to be extra cautious. 2: Yes, I know this... But look at what was purchased. It wasn't a cheap beater car. If you expect to afford VW reliability you should also know that buying a car with 18 inch wheels will not be cheap. So don't do it if you cannot afford to. Blowouts happen. They're crappy and a part of life but they happen...

See, I'm also of the mindset that if you can't afford a set of tires for your car... you probably shouldn't have bought that car.

Sales: Sales Figure Ticker: November 2016

FCA blows, to me. They just don't make anything I would even consider right now. The Hellcats are suuuuper gnarly and all but that's about it. Everything seems old or the new stuff seems too Fiat. The new Alfa sedan looks beautiful but I doubt there is an Alfa dealership within 100 miles of me. Probably more like 250-300 miles north, around Chicago. Okay, check that. I'd consider a Grand Cherokee and the new Compass? Patriot? Whichever one was just shown off.- 18 replies

I am not a fan of cheap-o tires at all but if you're selling it back as soon as possible there is no point in overspending either. While I would never really want cheap tires like that on my vehicles there is a cost:value ratio you need to find to get you to your selling point. If you're just looking for safety to get you by, they will probably be wonderful. If you want performance, be it rain, snow, hot, cold, evasive maneuvers, stopping abruptly, you will want a different tire. Cheap tires aren't known to blow or anything like that but they sacrifice performance metrics for the money saved. OOPS I thought Horse posted this.. Well you're planning to keep your VW for awhile.. I would definitely not cheap out on tires. They effect too much on a car to go cheap on. I'm not saying splurge and get Michelin Pilot (enter letter/number/word here). But You could get a good set of Continentals, Pirellis, GoodYears without breaking the bank. If you're really only trying to get 3 months out of tires I would look for used one. There are some used tires with a very good amount of tread on them that you might only pay 100 for all 4(plus mount and balance...). You're in Ohio, right? Give this place a call and see if they have anything available in you're size. http://www.sandysusedtirescolumbus.com/

I want to clarify, they are 20k each, right? So 5 $20k vehicles?
-
OMG don't be "that guy" with 4 differently worn tires.. Replace the one you need to, have it put on the back, and when you can afford the other 3 put them all on and leave the "old" one on the back still until it comes time for a rotation. Used tires if you have to. There are places to find used decent tires that may have come off of a wrecked car or something. I'm going to be buying a set within the next few thousand miles most likely. Bye bye $1000.

I noticed that coloration as well.. Something looks off about it. Other than that though it is a great looking interior to me.

Cadillac News: Cadillac and Endurance Racing, Take Two!
ccap41 replied to William Maley's topic in Cadillac
NASCAR will only consider EV when they absolutely HAVE to. I just can't see them considering it before they need to just because the sport has always been around simplification and basic engine on a street car(I know it is nothing like that today as they have standardized bodies and engines so much for competition's sake) but in general, they are the most simple cars racing today. Yes, there are millions into R&D and testing to tweak suspensions and bodywork that they are allowed to. I'm not trying to say that it's cheap and easy for anybody to just field a car but I'm saying that in the grand scheme of racing, they are still the most simplistic cars out there(On the national/international level).- 22 replies

Prestige. When you have the money you want other people with money to know... you have money and an excess of it. Child games, really. But that's one reason the S Class is likely as pricey as it is...because they can.

Cadillac News: Cadillac and Endurance Racing, Take Two!
ccap41 replied to William Maley's topic in Cadillac
I agree that there isn't a set monetary value to advertising your brand through F1 but of all forms of racing F1 is the most costly with likely the least amount of return on said investment. It would definitely be a way to get their name out there in likely a great way but I don't think they are really set out to lose money when even the best teams still aren't making money. I don't know for fact but it just seems the way F1 is run that there are other forms of racing that Cadillac could benefit from entering. You're right, likely Audi didn't profit a dime from winning Le Mans but with a rich history in racing they still have a well known race program and can advertise their winnings even if it is just on pamphlets and signage. That alone just gives companies a little more cache and prestige in their products which Cadillac is greatly missing.- 22 replies

Cadillac News: Cadillac and Endurance Racing, Take Two!
ccap41 replied to William Maley's topic in Cadillac
Sadly.. I agree. US teams aren't known to be winning teams and it would be GREAT if GM/Ford could collaborate and send the best America has but the way F1 is ran... it would be insanity to try and field a team. There seems to be too many politics involved. That and the sport itself just isn't a great sport to watch. I used to love it but the competition just isn't there anymore. It seems every year there is 1 team that will win it all from week 1 and a second team trying to knock them down some. Basically, who spends the most in R&D in the of season, wins. For what it's worth though, HAAS F1 was very successful for their first season in F1 as an American team. They scored points in their first race ever, which is a very rare feat. Just look at how the teams are so close to each other and you can see where they consistently run every week. Mercedes 1-2, Ferrari/Redbull for 3-6, Ford India/Williams for 7-9, 11. They just need better competition when it comes to racing..like NASCAR. A lot of people think NASCAR is a lame and boring sport but it's the most competitive form of auto racing there is. 2016 F1 Standings- 22 replies

F1 is an absolute money pit from what I've read. The only reasons teams still do it is pride or some sh!t. At least the technology is finally coming down from them(KERS, small turbo motors). But that's about it.- 22 replies

Just because they're selling at higher prices doesn't mean they have inflated that much. That just means people are adding bullsht options to their cars. People added bullsht options in 2009 as well. Cars don't depreciate 80% in 3 years when they're brand new, taking the largest hit. Let alone when they're 10 years old aging to 13 years old. (Your $5000 to $1000 example). I agree that car prices have out paced economical growth and wage increases for far too long for there not to be a big hit at some point but I just think the numbers you used were very exaggerated over the period of time you used (3 years).
